Amitiel "Human and angel within you, in particular, are not different," Amitiel simply stated. "Think of it like a soup, individual ingredients that make one solid dish."
The angel pointed their finger at Malik. "Don't use your power as something distinct. Use it as a biological part of your nature." archAngel neutral good | ageless | sexless Loner。

A slight smile graced his face, in slight amusement, and not in a denying way. "Easier said than done." He pointed out. "Usually it really feels like theres two different things" There was a constant awareness of the non-human energy in his body, and he was sure he couldn't just drop the sense it was too acute to ignore when he was at his strongest or most agitated but...
Malik froze. He hadn't realized consciously until this moment. There wasn't any of that feeling right now. The sense of duality and tension between his physical self and his abilities wasn't there.
This observation raised other questions. How'd he managed as well as he had during his venture into Necropolis? How'd he done, without thinking twice about them, things that were without doubt humanly impossible? Why'd it all seem to become more difficult as soon as he started thinking about what he happened to be doing?
The more he considered it the more it definitely seemed that it was the flesh and blood part that complicated things, followed by inhibitions some of which he'd honestly set on himself, plus way too much thinking.
"But... dude you're seriously on to something." Malik admitted. He was close to something with that train of thought. It made sense. Just applying it here or more importantly in the normal way he was used to living didn't seem clear. Jay

Dude Dude was sure that Malik had the power to use his abilities naturally. After all, the only thing, at least in the former's mind, that was blocking the Nephilim was his own inexperience.
And, yet, that was the deciding factor, wasn't it? No matter how intrinsic trait, if you don't have the experience, you might as well not have it. It would take a while for this to be as easy as breathing, much like it was for the Archangel.
So, the angel said something that they never thought they would be able to say in all of eternity.

"Yes."
Malik's voice flared with hope. Thats what he'd been trying to do by all the other means, to figure things out and learn and gain experience. He didn't want to waste any chance he got to learn from someone who actually had the credentials. Jay

"By doing." Malik stated. He'd already tried meditation. It was useful for self control but didn't provide much new information. Spoken or written means of learning provided head smarts, but even with all the books he'd scoured, it didn't bridge the gap between concept and application. that's where the missing piece probably was. "stuff makes more sense when it's hands on." When he didn't have a choice in the matter, or when it was tactile, or when he could see what he was doing, thats when he at least knew for sure that he was making progress in an area. Jay

Amitiel Amitiel's expression didn't change. "Very well," they said to Malik.
In the very next instant, forces whipped around the body of the shapeshifted angel, and launched themselves at Malik.
For anything else, this would have been an unseen attack; for Malik, this would be something he could sense by virtue of being celestial in makeup.

It was faster than any of his sparing on earth. Malik braced himself, the very consistency of his spiritual body changing to better take the expected blow. He didn't know how hard it would be. Jay

Amitiel The blow was indeed fierce, but Malik's minor adjustment kept him standing. Amitiel was pleased to see that; his body was reacting on its own to combat a familiar source of energy.
"Next volley," said the angel, and the moment the second word left their mouth, more force began to muster. This time, it solidified into orbs of light and sound, resonating harmoniously in the song of the plane they were standing in.
Then, those orbs of musical light were hurled toward Malik. They weren't deadly, no, but it would send the fight into its next phase. angel neutral Good | Ageless | Sexless Loner。

He hadn't expected to hold his ground so well. A pace or so lost in absorbing a blow was nothing compared to being sent flying smack into a wall. He felt that the breath should have been knocked out of him, but it hadn't, since the action of breathing in this state was a habit not a need.
The angel's next attack was both dangerous and beautiful, in perfect harmony with this plane. Malik didn't have much opportunity to question and observe how they'd been made. They were coming right at him.
He flung up a barrier, a technique he'd known nearly from the beginning, nearly dropping it as he'd actually gotten a glimpse of the barrier taking form. There were parts of the process that he'd simply never seen before. The orbs left a dissonate chord as they hit, requiring a significant amount of effort to deflect. Jay

Amitiel The next attack came directly afterward. Malik holding his ground had been expected - the barrier, however, hadn't been. Amitiel was becoming steadily more impressed by the boy as the battle went on.
The angel's next attack was far more human; a punch aimed squarely at the barrier. This punch, naturally, came from a celestial being, so it wasn't entirely normal. It was done to test the barrier.
Solid. Good.
Amitiel jumped back from the blow, spinning in the sky of the plane as they did. Whips of light grew from their rotating body, lashing out at the barrier to begin attempting to tear it apart. angel neutral Good | Ageless | Sexless Loner。

He held on to the barrier as long as he could, but every blow threatened to break the glowing citrine shield. When it came apart it broke completely, ribbons of star-pointed light fading away like an after image experienced from looking at a bright light. Not a photon of it remained solid enough to stop a blow.
As it was torn apart, Malik stopped trying to hold the barrier in place. Ribbons of Amitiel's light cut into the nephilim's raised arms as he jumped backwards, trying to establish some distance between himself and the onslaught. At least it didn't hurt like normal pain. The sensation faded quickly as his form repaired itself.
Though far faster than a human could ever be, Malik's movements probably seemed slow in comparison to the angel's. Malik was still operating on somewhat human-physical concept of locomotion. The ground was a baseline. The sky, beautiful as it was, hard to reach. Jay

Amitiel The whips dissipated, wrapping around me in a whirl of light. A holy chorus of sound resounded very briefly, before I launched myself at the Malik.
He was durable - very much so. Even at their weakest, an Archangel's power was still enough to overwhelm nearly anything. This boy had taken my attacks not only in stride, but actively defended against them.
He was talented.
That thought guided my next attack; as the distance closed between us, I took in the light, and began to spin again. This time, it covered my body, and I was sent soaring like a bullet toward him.
A tornado of holy energy, directed right at him. I had no doubts that Malik could deal with an onslaught like this. He would learn to read these energies soon - I could feel it. angel neutral Good | Ageless | Sexless Loner。

Eyes widened briefly for a moment before Malik dove out of the way. He'd sensed he couldn't block this one, definitely not head on. The amount of power the angel was using seemed to be increasing. Since the angel had already cut through one of his barriers, he couldn't bet on a new one being able to stop the incoming momentum.
He was still too slow.
Although he avoided the hit head on, it still made enough contact to knock him off his feet and worse. For a moment he didn't know which way was up. The sensation of being hit by that incredible amount of power flooded his awareness, overpowering every other sense. It was comparable to the times when he was flesh and blood and his own powers overwhelmed him, but more agonizing.
Yet it faded quickly. He could still feel the effects, but he wasn't nearly as overwhelmed by them as his spirit adjusted to compensate in a way his physical body couldn't have done. This was aided by this realm. It wasn't even 'his' heaven, but he was compatible enough that the reflexive preservation response was less work than it might have been in some other places.
Enough with the defense only strategy.
He stepped forward, light flaring from his back in a loosely wing like structure. He bent one portion in front of him, aiming to bash into the angel with the bunt blow. He'd tried something similar before in sparring with Maximillion and practicing on his own since his energy liked to form that shape but this time felt different, like something he actually owned instead of an unruly force ready to force its way out of his control.
Maybe this was part of what Amitiel had meant earlier. Jay

Amitiel The shock of the hit seemed to be much briefer than the last direct contacts. Good. He was getting the hang of it. This plane was also doing its job, giving him the sense of direction he'd needed to move forward.
I came from my whirl of power, and turned to face the boy. I saw, in that instant, that his strategy had changed. He was going to attack - and the attack, while very avoidable, was different than I had expected. It was reflexive, seemingly more powerful than what I would have imagined a Nephilim was capable of.
Instead of moving out of the way of the attack as soon as it came at me, I opted to let the energy hit me. I almost began to regret it, as I felt myself nearly lifted from my feet by it. While only skating back on my heels, the force was enough to displace me.
Yes. Yes! He was starting to channel his power!
My expression turned into a small smile, then I lifted a hand. Closing my fist, projections of my wings sprung from my back. They were not in their truest form; merely shadows of my angelic form, but it was still my power coming to the forefront. I wanted to show Malik the same courtesy he showed me, after all.
This would be my final clash with the boy. angel neutral Good | Ageless | Sexless Loner。
