Her talking would be cut short, which was a shame, considering she loved the sound of her own voice. Another round of cutting light would be sent her way, but it required only a sidestep to avoid it at the range she was at.
“So, that’s your answer...” she murmured under her breath, her smile dropping while the barrier was forming and Malik was racing up towards her.
If that were the case, she had an answer too. The child screamed as an eerie darkness began to overtake him in a split second. As it did so, he went silent while the energy returned to Abeo, having absorbed the kid’s soul.
Just in time.
Abeo allowed Malik to tackle and take the kid’s now-lifeless body, her expression now grim as she narrowed her eyes at the holy being. There was little chance of him being brought back, with his soul infused with the Daemon’s. A small rush of the kid’s memories struck the tiny half-Daemon, but she did her best to brush them off while she kept her guard up around Malik.
“It’s too bad, really~” she said without her usual smile, shrugging. “You could’ve saved ‘em, too.”

The mother would be devastated. He would be devastated if he let himself think beyond the moments at hand, but he didn't yet. He was not going to let such emotions take hold at a critical time like this.
One thing was for sure. Abeo wasn't getting anyone else. The barriers remained up and remained strong. They would remain an effective buffer between Abeo and anyone else for as long as Malik could hold them.
The nephilim released the body, and lowered it gently down on a portion of his light, his solemn handling like a prayer. Only Abeo and himself would remain, closed off from the rest of the universe for now. There was not going to be a second time on his watch.

“Gonna just keep me here, a little bird trapped in a cage?” Abeo asked with a sneer, putting a hand on her hip and cruelly grinning once again. “How long can you last? A half-baked angelic being… you won’t last forever.”
She could probably use some sort of teleportation to remove herself from the barriers, but why bother with that now? The Daemon finally had the attention of the interesting former human. And as his power was draining, she would continue poking at his spirit with her aura, looking for any sort of opening she could find. How long would he last exposed to her corrupting presence?

Malik didn't respond to her, not verbally nor physically. Even though he remained aware of her, he didn't even bother looking at her. His blazing blue eyes seemed to be focused outside of the barrier's bright edges. Still he'd know if she tried something with time enough to defend himself.

Abeo’s expression darkened once more; this was no fun, and Glitter Man was being all serious again. She had just about enough of this.
Instantly, the Daemon would charge up her energy of corruption once more, and begin to break the barriers slowly. The angelic being should be running out of energy by now, so all she had to do was strengthen her own. Bored expression on her face, she simply stared at Malik in a dull manner, allowing her aura to do the work for her.

Malik was careful with his control of energy, recycling as much as he could salvage back into the barriers. He didn't need to hold out forever. He only needed to hold out long enough.
They were moving. Malik was trying to get himself and Abeo as far away as possible, to somewhere where there wouldn't be any more casualties human or otherwise. The Nephilim wracked his brain for places where he could be assured of a lack of any further collateral damage.
If only you could kill her. It'd certainly be easier.
The thought slipped through unbidden and nagging. He shuddered at the thought. Malik knew there was danger there. Even if he could pack enough power to end her right now, it probably wouldn't work. If he did succeed well...He didn't think he'd end up unscathed. Either she'd fight back and he'd take a serious hit or...the very act of killing could do something to him, set him on a path he wasn't ready to go on. His imagination was being very active in showing him a fate from such a choice that he wanted nothing of.
But what can I do?
Silently, wordlessly, barely even conscious of the fact that he was doing so, he reached out towards a higher power. He didn't have the capacity to make this judgement call. He recognized that no matter what he wanted, he could not be assured that it was the right choice. Someone higher could make the right choice. Someone higher had the experience and knowledge to both know what was right and act on it. If only he could reach them. Transport between realms was no easy matter, and not one he'd succeeded in doing physically yet. He didn't think...no He knew that his current energy levels wouldn't be sufficient to get him safely there let alone anyone else.
He didn't have to rely only on himself. A heaven was willing to reach back to him. The sudden shift in power helped Malik to breath easier. He didn't have to be so focused on keeping the barriers up because another hand was helping.
