The tiny floating island had little to offer in ways of entertainment; it was too far away from the main towns to get many travelers. Only those that were lost or looking for treasure stopped in Esperanza for supplies. Meera had finished her errands, yet there was still too much time to call it a night and wait for the next day. So instead she'd found herself in the only tavern in town. She wasn't quite drunk yet, but still had her face plastered against the wooden counter. The place was dead, only two other patrons far away in another booth, while the bartender slowly polished a mug. The separation from Liam, no her companions (she had to correct herself each time at the thought), weighed on her. She'd found an interesting location but had never attempted a raid herself. "...'Ey. You're that pirate, ain't cha?" The bartender spoke lowly. "Who-me?" Meera half-lifted her head, blinking, before realizing wow she was being recognized! Propping herself in a more presentable position, the sour expression disappearing off her face at the thought of glory. "Yeah, isn't your name... Kenessa?" "Yes!" Meera answered so quickly she nearly cut off the name. Wait. She frowned. "Er, no. Maybe you just got the name wrong?" "Mm the pirate who steals from other dimensions, even the gods an' spirits themselves. Pretty sure it was Kenessa." "No, not me," she sighed. Although that sounded like quite the feat... She'd have to steal that idea later. Never mind that she had no idea how to even get into another plane. She'd worry about that later. Jay

Kenessa "I have to say, the greatest feeling is recognition," said the woman in question.
Kenessa stepped over to the counter, having heard her name said when she entered the tavern. Not surprising - people around these parts knew of her exploits; thieves tended to know one another, after all.
Esperanza was a place she'd discovered after one of her major heists from a Spirit of War - the arrow head of a celestial soldier that could 'reflect the light of the sun'. Naturally, she kept that to herself, and settled on pawning off the lesser things like jewels she found when she got there.
Taking a seat near Meera, she gave the woman a smile. "I can see why there's a mix-up; she's a beauty, she is," Kenessa said to her. "Give 'er a drink, on me."
While it might not have been acutely clear to most, Kenessa wasn't sober at the moment. She found something rather relaxing from a local dealer, and now she was on top of the world. Planeswalking human True Neutral | 31 | Female Meera

Meera was about to get to know the counter a little better again when the voice spoke up. Wait, being recognized?! She sat up sharply, spellbound like the rest of the patrons. The spell broke when the bartender went to retrieve the requested drinks, the duo in the corner returning to their own machinations, leaving Meera staring wide-eyed an awkward amount of extra seconds. "Eh?" She realized the mistake far too late, quickly shifting her gaze back to her friend the counter. "Oh, you're the pirate he was talking about?" Of course she was. Meera nearly facepalmed at herself, the sound of something clacking distracted her to realize the bartender had brought the drink. She gripped the mug's handle, taking ahold of herself as well, finally snapping out of her surprise. "I'm Meera. Not quite at the point where I'm robbing interdimensional worlds but ... I'm working on it. I'll take what I can get, for now. Although I have to admit, if you're here, does that mean there's treasure nearby too?" She grinned, starting to think coming out here hadn't been a waste of time after all. Okay, maybe she shouldn't start some kind of treasure hunting rivalry, but she couldn't help it. Meera took a sip from the mug, realizing a bit late that she'd skipped a step. Probably a few steps. "Oh, and uh, thanks," she gestured with the mug. "I would have asked for your name, if I didn't have it already."Jay

Kenessa "Aye, Kenessa is what they call me," the auburn-haired treasure hunter said.
Even in her less-than-sober state, Kenessa could tell that Meera was quite excited about the prospect of treasure. Of course, telling her that there was loot to be had nearby wouldn't be the smartest course of action.
But, she was also high out of her mind, so she opted to meet in the middle.
"Nope. Nothin' of interest at all, I'm afraid," Kenessa said, winking at Meera. She hoped the pirate would understand that gesture. "It's looking to be a slow month."

Meera slapped her hand over her mouth, peeking at the bartender who'd already shifted across the room. She'd said that all rather loudly, but it didn't look like anyone was paying attention, at least. They'd probably be smart enough not to tip it off immediately, though. "Oh, right. Exploring's also a great pursuit. We're not too far from uncharted areas." Lightly Meera coughed, before casually returning to her drink. "I've got a lot more free time than I expected, right now. My crew ended up parting ways, so I'm all alone. It's very lonely."

Kenessa Kenessa raised a curious eyebrow at Meera's story. "Left you, huh?" she asked. Perhaps a falling out happened? Disagreements on who got what share? Things like that were pretty much a guarantee for any crew of hunters.
Then again, Kenessa only knew from primary and secondary sources. She, herself, had only been in a group of three at max, and that was for a single job.
She took a sip of her drink before leaning in to whisper to Meera. "What were they like; your old crew?" Planeswalking human True Neutral | 31 | Female Meera
