It was wet but not rainy. The sun shone but large puddles had gathered in every dip along the road, leaving small pools of water wherever one turned. The ground itself was very damp and soft, where grass roods created a filter to sift out the mud, it gathered in small puddles with every footstep. Everywhere else, it was mud.
The small cat sized creature ran ahead, jumping in the puddles with the occasional squeal. Hate as she might larger bodies of liquid, the small puddles were good for play. Usually they were not too deep and the cool water felt good when she was the one doing the splashing rather than being splashed.
All was good until the dull purple mammal jumped into a puddle who's depth she'd misjudged. The mud underneath was too shifty, and she sunk in deeper than her chest fur.
The resulting upset squeal was deafening as fun quickly became terror. Though not quicksand, the mud had a suction to it that made the furry winged child panic in fear.
We're coming, we're coming. Hold still the child's companion mentally projected to the trapped child. Winding over the ground, more careful to avoid the puddles was the two headed snake most usually by Shiren's side. Usually if shiren wanted to play, they let her play her own way. It had been nice to see her able to play a game deemed normal for a child of her mental age. Yet often these blips happened. If not handled well any small thing could end up with an extremely upset Shiren. Lucky the snake was good at handling these better than most due to keeping a mental link with the child. ninjasoilder Willow

Taige was outside with the others when the rain stopped. While it was warm inside, he knew that he couldn't stay in there forever. When everyone else came outside, he followed too. His fur wasn't fully built for the chilly wind, but he didn't complain about it. He was keeping an eye on the weird child he heard about from the snake. He was able to keep an eye on her, but with a lapse of judgement, he saw that she sunk into a mud puddle. "Hold on!" He shouted as he tried to run to her, but had trouble finding her.

The child wasn't far, and the snake had reached her by now, so locating Shiren in a dip in the ground should really be not problematic. The conjoined twins slid to where the child could see them.
"don't do anything from behind" Sevaan warned. The twins knew that even if vocal warning was issued, an unexpected touch from somewhere the child could not see at the time was like asking the child to make trouble. It would not be welcome, no matter how good the intentions might be.
"we are going to pull you out." the snake stated, speaking to the child aloud not for her sake, but so the others would know that there was a plan. They had to say more to shiren mentally on the matter, for in order to prevent her from lashing out at them, they had to outline the steps required slowly, so she wasn't surprised by them, each before an action could take pace.
We are going to wrap our tail around your waist was the first step to be explained. It was not hard for the snake to get their body under the child even though there was some mud since they were so narrow.
