❖ SHADOW
(In response to This Attack, and a request in This Thread)
It was quiet here, too quiet, with a distinct lack of small animals, as well as people.
The town was a mess, with roofs torn off of buildings, and the contents savagely destroyed leaving empty shells.
It was clear that whoever had been here had come to feast. There was blood in gallons spread out dried on the floors and the smashed furniture, but carcasses were distinctly absent in this out of the way, Southern Hemisphere town.
What was present was an unusual amount of ash-like dust, caught in the blood, or in crevices like snow though nothing seemed to have been burned, bashed, broken, blooded, but not burned.
Shadow's nostrils flared as he took in the surrounding scents, gathering a wealth of information which told things which could not be observed by sight.
The dragon wasn't sure if his companion was as sensitive as he. The man had certainly proven himself observant when he chose to pay attention to the details.
"There's an odd lack of enemy scent here. I mentioned there was some a while back, but its weaker here despite the increased destruction." The dragon observed grimly. The armored mammal-like quadrupedal warrior stepped forward, bending his somewhat canid-like head down towards the wooden floor of one of the torn up houses. There were very few signs of obvious struggle from the victims in the rubble. An Ambush? It would make sense.
The whole village seemed similarly upset, with blood but no bodies, and a distinct lack of the enemy.
They had encountered body parts earlier, severed limbs and chunks of rotting flesh which did not seem to have come from any beast of which shadow had known, mixed in with half eaten victims who had clearly died fighting for their lives.
This place was closer to what shadow thought was the locus of the attack, Yet this place was more empty than the other. What had changed to prompt such a difference? Maximillion B. VonMitternacht
