A female gorilla, bright eyes full of intelligence, graciously accepts the cookie: "Thank you", she says.
She offers a banana in exchange for the cookie: "My name is Zara".

The narrator blinks. It sees me, he thinks; the character sees me.
A snail, black of slime and white of shell, is on the banana. Perhaps it has always been there, or perhaps it's just the fastest snail in the world.
The narrator takes the banana, while the snail begins waggling its eye-stalks about, shouting in fury about its greatness. Remaining silent (and trying to pretend he's not there), he hands the banana over to Loner the one who holds the syrup gun, while the snail yells, "Fear me!"

I casually regard the snail on the banana.
gross but not scary that's for sure.
I toss the banana with snail in tow towards the remaining pigs.
They will probably appreciate it more than I,
maybe even call it high food art.

The snail yodels as the banana is tossed, and this apparently wards off the pigs from taking the unsuspecting fruitcake. They seem perplexed as they look around at each other, bagels bouncing off of their squared brows.

I decide to seek shelter, finding a lean-to made of candy canes. I wait there, wondering if the pastry rain will ever abate, while keeping an eye out for the gorilla.

The gorilla is late. Everything is late. Even the rain is late...in stopping.
Hopefully that message of import does not have an expiration date.
You might notice the pigs from before walk past your lean-to, holding high on a plump purple pillow the banana with the yodeling snail. They soon disappear, the rain drowning out the snail's singing.
The barrage of bakery produce continues, storming into a series of baguettes that rattle across your candy cane lean-to. When the wind picks up and heads sideways, you have to be careful to not get knocked out cold by the hard-packed bread passing under the lean-to's roof. Eventually, however, the rain eases into a soft shower of rainbow sprinkles.
