A peaceful day, one would think, as the weather and the land seemed stable in the land of Sanctuary, with few accidents to report, at least for that hour. Blake Acciaio sat in his office, sipping tea, as one might expect. Usually, his tea was flavored with many different types of serums, all meant for enhancing him. Immunities to mental powers, physical strength and speed, durability against elemental or magic attacks, he had them all, in a lovely tea, made just for him.
However, this time the Director of the Sanctuary Authorities chose to drink standard earl grey; black tea with a hint of bergamot, with a teaspoon and a half of refined sugar. Though he now wished for chamomile tea to keep him calm while sifting through paperwork, the black-haired young man did not mind the drink as it was.
If only the day could have continued so peaceful, mildly boring, as is was now… Sirens began to blare in the building; not the kind of loud siren that would alert him of an intruder, but one that alerted everyone of an emergency elsewhere.
Standing up and leaving his prized tea, Blake dashed for one of the operator rooms, monitoring cameras and sensors around the Capital City. “What’s going on!?” he demanded. The operators in the room, fellow Enforcers began to explain the ‘tragedy’ and ‘devastation’.
This was none other than the hard truth that the continent had been severed, just like that. The ‘rifts’ they had been monitoring and shutting off public access to had been growing increasingly unstable. And now? One had escaped their attention, and that incompetence would cost them.
The communications with the rest of Sanctuary had faded. Reports and videos and photos were coming in by the second, showing the new beaches, cliffs, and ridges that had been cause. One small town had even been cut in half, friends and families separated. It did not end there, however.
Demons, similar to the imps and evil spirits and fallen angels they had fought before were emerging once again, this time in far greater numbers; almost as if they had been banished from their homeland all at once. Some were reported to be dazed and confused, while others ready to shed blood and destroy the land. “Deploy the entire army, if we have to! Use every resource we have!” Blake demanded, gripping the hilt of the rapier sheathed at his side.
“Sir, there’s something coming up on our scanner! Another land mass has appeared to the northwest, one we have never seen before. The magic energy coming from this place is immense!” a lower-ranked Enforcer reported, their voice urgent.
“Take care of the demons first, but set up a watch on that land. If anything comes our way from that direction, take them out,” Blake Acciaio ordered, beginning to storm out of the room and building, ready to join the fray. He had a durable ear monitor to listen for more reports and to continue giving orders, but there was no way he planned to sit this out. Their entire lifestyle was at stake!

A loud, impressed whistle came from the lips of the young teen with many warm colored feathers in her long white hair. The Phoenix in human’s skin had not expected the sudden appearance of land to wake her from her nap. From what Desiree's keen red eyes could see, this was very new, land that had yet to be explored.
So why was she waiting here?
The Eokians had to explore, and she wanted to be among the first of the brave adventurers. Leaping off of the tree from where she had settled down to perch for the afternoon, the girl transformed into a brightly colored Vermillion Bird, with a few flames and sparks lacing the fringe of her feathers. Onto discover new lands! Who else would follow her across the small stretch of sea to explore the anomaly before them?

Pink bill parting in a wide yawn, the southern fulmar blinked bleary eyes against the light of the sun. While she had been dozing on the wing, it seemed as though the clouds had disappeared, and now the late summer sun was beating down upon her white feathers.
The light glared harshly against the rolling waves and thin mist below; the fulmar angled one wing down, turning herself so that she wouldn't be facing the sun. Dark eyes stared down, noting the edges of two landmasses that she hadn't yet seen before. Hm, perhaps one held that promise she sought...but which one to choose?
As she pondered it over, a wave of heat rushed over her. The bird's head instantly snapped around, watching as the sun seemed to soar overhead, flap its wings and...wait--what?
The fulmar blinked, watching as a bright red bird made way for one of the shorelines, flames and sparks flying at its feathertips. Was she dreaming?
The bird squawked when something hit her across the head, sending her spiraling down towards the water.
She flapped hard to bring herself just short of a cresting wave, webbed feet skimming the bubbles and foam as she rose away from the surface --and just in time, too, as something reared its ugly head out from beneath the misty waves, its body curled in arcing coils as it swam through the ocean. With a head like a frilled lizard and more than ten times as large, it opened its massive jaws and let loose a cacophonous roar.
The feathers rose all along the fulmar's spine, and she wasted no time at all on returning to the proper out-of-reach altitude. As she stared down at the enormous beast, another shadow came into view, and the fulmar hurriedly swung herself out of the way as yet another strange thing came dashing past her.
Raising her eyes, she could see a black mass of airborne animals heading her way. Offering only a confused call, the bird began flapping her wings in haste, rushed to stay ahead or otherwise get out of the way.
He came riding in on a black stallion, blue flames in its mane and a skull of bone. The skeletal horse stampeded ahead of the demon horde, a bright orange dot resting in one of its empty eye sockets.
The little woodland jumping mouse huffed and puffed as he sat in the narrow-floored hole, tail flying wildly in the air, and watched as the sky turned from crimson and flesh back to a bright blue, the daylight sun blinding his dark-attuned eyes in the moments thereafter. He grabbed at his eyes with a shout and rubbed them vigorously, blinking the spots away as he peered around in this new light.
He was hungry, tired, and worn from his rampage in the rotting realm, and oh, how glorious the cloud-spattered sky was! He didn't know how it had happened, but he was finally out of that enormous cavern, and he could breathe a sigh of relief knowing that he would no longer have to subsist on bloody berries and bitter thorns alone.
Nestling himself into the crook of the socket, the mouse folded his arms behind his head and let himself rest his eyes, assured that a panicking horse would have no reason to turn and face the crowd.

The headmaster had been reaching with a tool used to tweek the screws on his school's universiscope; a astronomy device that acted as a planetarium and more, when he felt a sensation run down the side of his arm. There. That prickle on the back of his hand was a power stone in a chain of them vanishing in the northern isles. The itch on his foot, a gap in the barrier to the south, breached this very moment. That twinge in his side, that was an ancient tree with a soul, breathing its last. There were many more, coming into a cacophony of sensation that for a moment caused the ageless man to freeze on the spot.
Gently, the pale man set aside his tools. The delicate task at hand must be ignored. The astrology students could finish it. In the face of such news from many sides meant that he had work regarding something far more vital than his duties at the academy, an issue on continental if not global scale.
The buzzing by his ear was a guardian of the eastern sea trench, sending a telepathic message of distress. The news was cut off uncomfortably short. Something had happened to the guardian there.
With deliberate intentionality the ageless one began to swell, becoming more and more intangible as the deity took an inhuman form, and stepped through and away from the astrology tower and his beloved city. He would investigate the east.
The creature which reached the eastern shore was more than gigantic, but so close to transparent that it looked like less than a shadow against the sky. What he saw was not good news. The barrier was down, and the land beyond uncomfortably close. Not close enough to swim for mankind, but he wouldn't put it against those who were resourceful to find a way across, by boat or by plane. So much for keeping out the anti-magic world. With the barrier down, chances were high that the war of old would start anew. It would take an effort from the pantheon together to restore the sea gap and put up a new barrier, but until then, there were other questions to be dealt with.
A clear bugle set the magic in the land in motion, reconfiguring the lay lines and setting in motion spells built in to the very air. Those who lived in the magical lands and were sensitive enough to it, might just sense these shifts.
A sudden change in the magical atmosphere ruined an already fitful sleep, yet at a glance nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Her body was sore. No surprise there. She had taken hard hits from one of the small scale otherworldly leaks leading up to this point. Carefully the slender dragon pulled herself to her feet, and looked around. It was rather dark wherever she was, but it didn't feel like a bad place to be, until she heard the howls. A wave of fear struck her for a moment. They sounded like those other times, like that day when a ancient dragon she had known from her earliest childhood memories had met his end. kagome

A large skeletal looking head in the shape of an equine lifted away from a pile of carrion he had just recently come across. The continuous mist that surrounds his legs thicken to a denser fog as Andante notices the shift in atmosphere. Eerily glowing eyes turn skyward as a whole new world opens up before his very eyes. It was a strange sight indeed, and the strange chimera horse like dragon wished to gain new knowledge of this area he had yet to explore. Unfolding his leathery wings he stretched them out and gave them a light flap to warm up. Although they were worn with holes and tears from battle he was still very much capable of flight. The runes that tattooed his membrane glowed a brighter hue as he gained a running head start. Leaping near the end of his gallop Andante took flight, coasting on the winds and heading towards the city in the distance, the blaring alarms acting as a sirens call. That is until he recognized a very familiar face down below. Banking towards his left he descended, landing upon the ground with a trot to carry out the rest of his body's momentum. Miss Brush, I did not expect to see you near all of this commotion. Do you plan on gathering knowledge from this strange land as well? The hybrid questioned. Prim and proper as always despite the severity of the situation at hand.

A expression of confusion crossed the furry female's features. It was rare of her but she did not know what was going on quite yet. Yet the dragon's eyes lit up when she saw who had found her. She brushed her forehead against his neck in an expression of relief. "You're alive thank goodness." She'd thought Andante had ended up killed in one way or another. A lot of near deadly events had happened, that had begun by sounding this terrible.
"I... Don't know whats happened yet, but if its anything like last time, It would be better for me to get away." She pulled away slightly, lowering her neck. "I can hear fighting, and I've never exactly been hardy." Brush was trying to not draw attention to it, but she was still recovering from wounds she had recived not very long ago. It would probably be safer for her to wait until the novelty wore of for others, and the sounds of demons could not be heard. kagome

Her sense of relief caused the chimera to release an echoing chuckle. "But of course. I might have had my nose buried in a good book all the time but I am certainly not ignorant to the scent of danger." And even if he had been, his ability to phase through animate and inanimate object would have saved him from the cold grasps of death. His gaze dropped to give her a look over and nodded his head a tad. "I am glad to see that you are in fine health," His voice trailed off as his nostrils picked up on the smell of fresh flesh, indicating a healing wound...somewhere. Of course he was not the type to draw attention towards things that did not want attention. Therefore he opted to acting oblivious to the flesh wound, unless Brush decided to bring it up later. The sounds of batter did not detour him away though. It reminded him of an old lullaby, familiar in its sound. It soothed the chimera in an odd sort of way. Perhaps because it was all his war torn tribe had ever known. Titling his head to the side inquisitively, Andante spoke up once more. "Would you like me to escort you to a more...sheltered place, or perhaps since you are curious we could walk through the city together? If you do not mind being part ghost, that is..." Though it would drain much of his energy he could put Brush into a state where she would be virtually untouchable. Though it would leave him susceptible to attacks.

"I rather stay safe Andante." Brush pointed out. "I've been doing interplanar travel for ages now, and exploring a place too different from your own, that's not something to take lightly." This wasn't interplanar travel exactly, but the sheer difference in the style of the city looming across the water to the west compared to little brush had ever seen. The places she favored were organic, close to nature, connected in invisible ways to the magic and energy of the land.
Just by looking, even at this distance, she could not see a place that held that kind of reverence.
But she would gladly want to explore it after doing her research and on a day where demonkind and airborn creations of man were not swarming the sky like flies in the distance. This already was bringing back too many bad memories for her to willingly go into that fray. kagome

"There is nothing wrong with that." If safety was the wingless dragon's concern then so be it. Craning his neck a little higher Andante's seemingly pupiless gaze watched as the crowds of demons and other entities began to thicken by the minute. Both sets of his ears gave a subtle twitch as Brush began talking once more. Removing his gaze from the skies he glanced at her, nodding in a slow fashion. "Hmm...that is true. Well then, lead on miss Brush. The least I could do is make sure to fall to no harm while seeking out your place of refuge." The chimera uttered.

Accounts fluctuated and reports were coming from all over the map, but none of it was good news. Despite the clusterfuck that communications had become, civilian police response was remarkably quick. It had to be; public opinion was low after the previous month, and the chief was apparently riding everyone to perform. Not my concern -- I was just a tool, after all. Given the immediateness of the situation, the APC was left to other units, and the rapid response team lifted off in a cargo helicopter. All things considered, it seemed appropriate that the "rapid response team" currently consisted of only one member. I was lucky that the copter was already prepped for training maneuvers, or it would have taken far longer. The city was in utter chaos. As we flew over, it became quickly apparent that there was little organization to the enemy's assault; they were showing up all around, with no rhyme nor reason. A quick satellite scan of the area indicated a decent place to drop to -- one with a fair concentration of trouble to shoot at. There was no signal, no demands; I simply stepped out into nothing and dropped straight down. Even as I fell my CPU was calculating the most appropriate weaponry. Considerable interference kept communications in and out of static constantly, meaning there was little in the way of orders. Essentially that meant that there were no limitations; anything that moved could potentially be a target. Final load-out fixed -- one arm being a plasma cannon, the other a proper riot shield -- I braced for impact, which was considerable; three hundred kilograms hitting the ground at near-terminal velocity shattered concrete and left a considerable dent in the pavement. Recovery took only moments, and I acquired my first target. Something large, bulky, and armed with horns, only now recognizing (too late) that I was nearby; it didn't have time to fight back as its head exploded, unspent plasma and crisped gore spraying behind it. For some reason, I felt that some kind of music to stream through my circuits might be appropriate for the occasion... Perfect. Murasaki

In this case brush didn't truly wish to lead, but chances were high that the knew the immediate area a bit better than Andante. The slender dragoness turned an eye to the sky but dipped her head low, watching in case any demons grew attracted once she began to move.
She chose to walk rather than run or fly, despite her sense of urgency. She didn't want to aggravate the healing wound. If it bled it would probably attract trouble.
Suddenly brush froze. She thought she saw... Her heart twisted at the sight of the phantom which she thought she saw among the demons.
She knew full well that Draco was dead, that he'd died months earlier. Her memory must be playing tricks on her.
She began to jog, hoping to put some more distance between the necropolis denizens and herself before she started seeing too much of the past in these new attacks. kagome

The Platinum Blonde-haired female human scientist, with orange eyes, caucasian-looking skin and an odd futuristic-looking steel-colored labcoat with gold trim, was currently in her secret lab underneath one of the city parks, designing schematics for one of her new androids. Her lab was a more recent one, finished some time in the last few years, after the forty year old scientist who looked to be twenty-five had finally, through hard work, preserverance, and much clever sneakiness, made herself a fully trusted Sanctuary scientist, with access to Sanctuary tech. That access in itself had been a blessing, especially since it meant she could more easily circumvent Sanctuary technology.
Having been accidentally teleported twenty years ago from her lab that was located on the central island of the Dominion of Superior Science, Dominus, to the Sanctuary countryside, Anastasia Grammer had not had an easy first few years. But, now, 'Anna Markelle' was a respected Sanctuary scientist, responsible for introducing a few improvements to Sanctuary tech herself. Although, she made sure that the improvements weren't perfect, including the occasional blind spot. She wanted an opportunity to overthrow Sanctuary's government, after all. The populace would be much better off, after their society had thrown off their shackles, and embraced true, unadulterated, science, without the blemish of inane secrecy.
And, wouldn't you know it? The time had come. As the alert blared inside her lab, she quickly stopped what she was doing, and checked one of her monitors. Wow. Not only were they being invaded by demons-again, possibly thanks to her one of her blind spots-but, an island was approaching them, and, from the readings she was getting, they were clearly magical. A smirk formed on her mouth, chuckling slightly. "No second chances for you, Sanctuary. You really should have been more careful~" She activated a comm for a secure frequency. "Kramer, exit your containment, and begin dispatching every magical creature that you can find. I want a good demonstration for the citizens of this boring country, before I begin my little speech~"
-----
In the park above, in a 'tree' that was actually a hologram, with a hardlight outer layer most of the time, a twenty-one year-old looking male casually stepped out, wearing a black hoodie, white sleeveless shirt, black pants, and a fancy pair of white and bright orange sneaks. He appeared to be caucasian, but, had not only silver hair, but, as he opened his eyes, in place of his irises and pupils, was an odd, artificial glowing bright blue. Taking his hands out of his pockets, he stretched out his arms, yawning a bit. "Mmmmmmm, bout time, Doc. Was starting to get bored." He reaches his arms directly out to the left and right of him, fancy modern looking pistol, with steel colors and orange fiery accents, appearing not only in his hands, but, levitating above his arms, ten of the heavily advanced pistols in total. "...Oh, wait, forgetting something." All of a sudden, an odd egg-shaped drone appeared with the same color and accents of his pistols. He grinned. "There we go~" With that, he began running out in search of targets, the eight floating pistols and camera drone following behind him.

Amitiel "They're back."
The dark powers that once more permeated the lands were not a surprise to Amitiel. No, they had been expecting the Fores of Darkness to jump at the chance to attack once more.
Ever since the ascension of the Queen, and now the newest King - news that the angel had gathered on their own as part of a recon effort - the demonic hordes were bolstered.
The celestial heavens that they founded alongside Vessa were beginning to fill. Beings and ghosts of many kinds flocked to it; now, they would have to save those on the Earth.
Yet, even with that being the case, the angel found hesitation. The images of Mohanchor's death still dominated their mind; something they never told Vessa. They wanted to keep it secret.
That wouldn't be the case for much longer, though. Even now, the energy around them began to experience unrest.

Her partner's unease could be easily read. A touch of questioning worry passed through the atmosphere in concern for the powerful angel. Vessa knew that neither Amitiel nor herself were infallible. This was why it was so important to communicate and work together to be effective in the greater universe.
"we've known it would come." The Astral being reminded with quiet resignation. She wished to comfort the Angel, but there was no denying that until an ultimate restoration, there would always be evils coming into the world. "you are agitated, what's clinging to you? Time will wait for us." She probed. She could find out if she wanted. All she had to do was look into the flow of time around Amitiel, but she trusted her partner more than that.
Time would wait for them. They could exist outside of time after all, and some into the scene below during any point they might will. Jay

Amitiel Vessa's voice was calming for the angel. They directed their attention to her, and let out a sound that resembled a sigh. Definitely something they picked up from the mortal plane.
"I'm... moments like these induce something within me. A feeling I am not familiar with..." They answered her.
The feeling they were talking about was regret; reminisce. They longed for something, and wanted badly to achieve that something. They wanted to help, but a deeper feeling was blocking them from accurately talking about their feelings.
"What is this, Vessa...? I'm confused," Amitiel asked, holding up their hand to look at it. Angel neutral good | ageless | sexless Loner。

Vessa could see it, since Amitiel was willing to show her the damage. It tugged at her own heart as it reminded her of feelings she had gone through while she had been only a flesh and blood dragon. "Regret." she placed. "the desire to redo something that did not turn out well, to perhaps even go back and mend it. And shame. That it happened for a being of your status, is hard to even admit." It was hard even without status, sometimes even relationally crippeling. The path to resolving this would not be an easy one. "tell me what exactly has triggered this feeling." If Amitiel was willing to embark into this painful part of the past, it would be possible to come out of it. Jay
