The number gave a careless shrug, less than ambivalent about the chosen denomination. It had a nice ring to it, and was far from the worse nickname it had ever been challenged for--er...given. Honestly, though, it would never understand why some reals were so intent on not using numbers for names! Why, just imagine all the [English] puns that could be had with "one" alone!
Pushing the rest of the doughnut down its empty gullet, the number leaned forward, its body stretching around the circle's protective dome (and causing sparks along the way as it bumped into it and skimmed the surface) as the human reached for something else. More doughnuts? The pattern had been broken, so perhaps there were other extras....
Some container, but what the human said did not speak doughnuts. The shadow sprung back into its original sitting position, staring blindly.
"Awesome," it commented, and a moment of silence was offered. A finger was poked into a nose that was not there and twisted around. "And?"

Choushin nodded his head. "Yup, that can work! Just look out for me sitting around somewhere in the city. I'll be in an obvious spot." He said with a grin and a chuckle.

”Hmm.” Hekate made the slight sound, taking another sip of her tea before setting the cup down on a coaster that rode upon the table. She didn’t give even a wave of her hand as the teapot from the cabinet showed up on its tray in front of her. Hekate took the teapot, and began to pour herself more of a browner liquid.
”So many of the other Gods fail when it comes to good tea making. That’s why I don’t use my divine powers to brew it.” She said. ”I wonder if she has any beastiaries that I don’t have. I know all of the supernatural creatures with that beastiary of my own up in my memories, but I’m always needing to build my library for the Cult.” She thought to herself. Perhaps one day a creature would surprise her, whether it be one of mundane nature or magic in nature, but so far that hasn’t happened.
”The simpler things can be better at times. Sometimes they’re also relaxing.” Hekate nodded. She looked up to Kanessa with an amused smile when she spoke again.
”Likable? I don’t always have problems with being likable, Planeswalker.” She said, ”I am the way I am. Sometimes I’m in a different mood, so I may act different, but I believe we are going to be able to overlook each other’s problems. In the future, at least.” Hekate said.
”The bookstore could still help you. It has nearly any book you could imagine. There are also creatures in Eokia that will teach you things that you might have trouble finding in books. Just be careful about which ones you talk to.” A warning about some of the things in Eokia should suffice. If it didn’t imbue caution, however, those coins of blessing could come in handy for either danger or the need to bribe some kind of being, so all should be fine.

The abrasive spirit entity just laughed and laughed, a horrid electric cackle that was sure to be grating on the ears, while performing a number of maddening flips. The somewhat animal like shape didn't remain, but took to constantly shifting, the forms of multiple creatures, were visible at any moment, intertwined into one chaotic whole.
"No no NO!" He howled in a way that sounded more distressed than upset, like the scream of a tortured person wanting the torture to stop. "That is not sacrificsssssse. It is tokens easy found easy lost. Worth notsssies." He pointed out in a snake like hiss. the value a person placed on the thing they were giving up, that really mattered in its worth to him. "Use the little cranium you want to keep so badly."
Actually chances were high that he had some token that Shagul actually might value enough to talk, but it definitely couldn't be something he could easily get a hold of himself.

Kenessa Choushin "Obvious spot. Got it," she responded. "Well, I guess that- oh shit, you need somethin... uh..." She looked around herself, but then settled on a charm. "Oh, there's uh... this? It's a charm from the spiritual plane. Lots of latent magic in it?"Hekate A little reading never hurt. "Good to know," the planeswalker simply responded, writing in her journal. "So, I'm gonna guess that you come from some pantheon. And, I might have to deal with that at point if I have to... interact with you for extended periods."The name of this Goddess would dawn on her sooner or later. Shagul "My cranium's telling me you don't know what you want," Kenessa's response was very instinctual. "I'm not your local burger joint; make another choice or get out of the line."0 "It's a connection," Kenessa answered. She tossed two more doughnuts to the Number before continuing, "That... sounds like somethin magic relies on. You mentioned math and that kinda..."
She moved her hand around her head. "-did me a light, ya know? This thing's like an inverse equation; makes something different or opposite."
She was starting to ramble now, but it was clear that she had a train of thought that she wasn't completely sharing. Planeswalking human True Neutral | 31 | Female ninjasoilder Loner。 0 hekate

The number caught the doughnuts, and they remained as it stared at the human, attention rapt. When at first it did not care, the more she tried to explain it, the more interested it became.
An inverse equation....
Its face lit up, the head flashing like a light bulb before returning to shadows.
The silhouette popped to its feet, the doughnuts dropping from its hands, although they didn't drop so much as float in place, just as something might do in the lesser gravity of outer space. "That sounds amazing!" it said in what may have been too loud of a voice, hopping up-and-down like an overexcited child; with each bounce it lost some of its structured form, quickly returning to a cloud of smoke jiggling in place.
Then it stopped, drifting. A tendril reached out and retrieved the doughnuts, pulling one inside it, while the other was held close. There was still something it didn't quite understand. "But why are you showing it to me?"
It wasn't a line of questioning. Was there something about it that she wanted to ask? It seemed as though she already knew what it was, and it should have been made clear by now that the number would hardly know anything more itself.

Choushin chuckled. "Yeah, an offering is needed, or else I would hold your soul ransom until you got me something to replace it, though it seems like you were prepared. Not that I would have done anything bad to your soul. Probably would have done a good thing to it." He said with a mischievous wink and grin, holding out his paw for the offering.

"Hmmmm...."
"How about your knuckle bones. They won't be difficult to surgically remove." Shagul teased knowing that if he wanted a piece of her body mind or soul he'd have to track her down and forcibly take it in person.
It was that or be 'nice' and hope that his meddling with her spell from this side would actually work to extract a share of mental-spiritual pain when she finally closed the spell.
"Nah, if I wanted a burger I might actually pay for it like a regular person." He hypothesized, though there was more chance of him taking a violent means and then using the burger joint to serve the victims to unknowing consumers.
"But aside from your glorious wonderful pain You're right. Its like trying to find gourmet steak at a burger joint."

Kenessa Choushin "Yikes," that was the correct response for something like that. "Alright, got it. Here, take the charm then," I said to the kitsune. I pushed the charm through the dimensional wall, and it would end where the kitsune sat. It was now in their possession, and firmly out of mine. Good riddance. I hated souls and all soul-y things. It was time to bid Choushin farewell. "Thanks for your help. I'll be seeing you soon?"Shagul And now he was giving me lip. This creature was a nightmarish entity of pure malice, and he was also sassy. Two combinations, by themselves, that would have been manageable. Together, they formed something I could barely tolerate. "You like sacrifices, bud? Find your own," What I was about to do was probably going to land me in more trouble than it was worth. But I was vindictive enough to not care at the moment. "You ain't gettin' shit from me."I just denied a spiritual entity an offering for their time. Usually, that led to some bad stuff. 0 "I'm thinkin... I've got a theory..." I rubbed the back of my head. "Magic's called magic for us mortals cause we don't get it. It don't follow natural laws, yeah?"
I lifted another doughnut, and tossed it to the Number. "But, like... what if it's all just... interfacing. Ya know? Like, it's not necessarily breaking a law. But, like, what if it's, uh..." I was definitely having some trouble putting it into words. "It's like a series of differentials. It's all about the change in the basic interactions we see. It's not breaking a law, so much as its interacting in a way we don't see..."
Yeah, even I could tell this wasn't making a lot of sense. I struggled to find the words, but I knew I was on to something, at least. Planeswalking human True Neutral | 31 | Female ninjasoilder Loner。 0

Choushin nodded his head. "Yes. If you don't forget about it, that is." He said with a light laugh as he took her charm in his paw. It really didn't matter what the gift was. He just wanted to have some fun, and will with her in the future if he sees her again.

The number idly twirled the doughnut it held while listening, catching another of the pastries right in the face. A puff of frosting was tossed quietly up into the air, scattering across the cloud until those particles, too, disappeared.
It didn't make all that much sense to the number, but it did give the mathematical object an idea. A flicker of returning memory, perhaps.
"Ah, like changing the number which a variable equals, thus shifting the structure of an equation?" it posited. "Or rearranging molecules until you've altered the atom." It briefly recalled these magicians from a clockwork world...wearing goggles that allowed for microscopic sight, and wielding pincers that were but tweezers that did just that--poking at chemical elements in a very precise, if slow, form of matter manipulation.
It wasn't sure if this was what the human was trying to get at it, and, even if it was, it had no idea what this had to do with the box that she bore.

A cheshire smile appeared as the entity reformed into an ever shifting chaos. "You know what, I'll do that." Thats what he usually did anyway. "See you on the other side."
Like liquid he vanished. His meddling with her magic was as in place as it was going to be. Hopefully it would work once she tried to end the spell on her side. If not, oh well. He knew how to find her.
