If Abeo was expecting him to be like before in terms of ability, chances were she'd get hit by the blazing ball of light he sent her way as he moved towards the burning buildings. It should be strong enough to at least knock her into the ocean. She was not going to get in his way if he could help it.
He had already closed the distance between himself and the flames.
The light he put to attack them was designed to be like fire as well, but he wasn't letting his burn the buildings any further than the corrupted portions. He surrounded the demonic fire with it to hedge off, and burn away the blackened flames. It seemed to be working too, searing away the darkness as well as light should.

The ball of light came for her, and though she had her guard up, Abeo took the hit which knocked her into the air. Lightly and delicately, however, the halfling landed gracefully back on her feet with an excited smile. “HAHAHAHA, YES! Seems you can entertain me after all!” she shouted in her glee, the fire on her hands growing once again as she set another nearby building ablaze.
Faster than average fire, the black flames began to roast the three neighboring buildings as well. “But can you keep up, Glitter Man?” she laughed, a devious grin on her facial features. “Let’s see how long you will last~”
Her fires of corruption would stoke the negativity in everyone close enough to feel the heat. Hatred, sadness, despair, fear, anger, rage… it would be fueled, and she wanted to taste it all.

As if she would be allowed to just set things aflame while he was putting out the existing fires. Malik didn't just stop paying attention to her just because he was combating the fires.
Sudden streaks of light shot across her path, as one measure to prevent her getting near any of the other buildings, and if she tried to get close enough again, she would likely find her way blocked as well.
If he could keep her busy long enough to end the current fires, he could engage with her more directly. Until then, he'd be multitasking, which had its own downsides.

The cruel grin on Abeo's face widened as Malik aimed to stop her with his power. Taking a large flying leap, the half-Daemon gracefully landed atop the building she had just set ablaze, and with her red eyes fixed on Malik, she set the building behind her aflame.
Followed by her directing her hand forward, she channeled pitch black lightning to be sent just over Malik's head, in order the strike the building behind him- charging it with her corruption.
Sandwiched between the two corrupt buildings, she once more exerted her aura, which targeted Malik. She was prepared to fight. To fight and destroy. Chaos.

His mobility was far higher than it had once been, and his power such that it was hard to believe how much he had been struggling in even the recent past, yet things weren't quite working out. She was fast too, and the fire faster. Keeping up with both simultaneously was getting more difficult.
To make matters worse were the raised voices of the locals. Tempers were high, and though they weren't trying to lynch him yet, Malik feared that he might be blamed for much of this trouble if he didn't do something about it fast.
He reclaimed what energy he could out of what wasn't spent fighting the fires, and shot away from the flames. He had a new plan to try. He would need more than spot-control at this point with all the burning.
He found a civilian who he knew could work some magic and spells who was trying to fight the fires. "Dude, you can make it rain right?"
"I'm a mage not a miracle worker. Water's not workin on this fire." The mage was obviously a bit short tempered at this point, and had no clue what Malik had in mind. There wasn't much time to explain. Malik might be able to do a lot, but controlling the weather wasn't one of those, and he needed some help for his ideas.
"Just..."
He barely avoided the spell aimed at him. "Get out of the way foreigner. I'm trying to fix things here."
Malik hadn't been friends specifically with this native, but he'd been involved with Delmarsh long enough, that the words were as much of a blow as the spell was. So much for collaboration. If Maximillion or Tempest were here, they'd be able to make a difference, but it was no good wishing for things which weren't. Malik would have to try and implement his solution on his own, or hope that the mage would have a change of heart.
A deep breath, and the seconds began to feel longer. He wasn't out of options yet. He'd need to be doing two things at once again, and ignoring the fire for a bit. Hopefully the result made up for it.
He flung himself up above the rooftops, for all purposes standing on thin air. He attacked her with another sphere of light, expecting her to try and dodge it. He didn't need it to hit. He needed to keep her busy.

The holy being was not the only one who could multitask. While Malik was speaking to the civilian, Abeo had already set another building ablaze, and was running off on her own to an area that had yet to be affected, leaping from rooftop to rooftop. It was then that the airborne Malik had fired a sphere of light her way, which she gladly dodged. Hopefully, dodging it would allow it to smash the roof she had just been standing on.
She maintained her gleeful grin, and chuckled as yet another building was alight. People were crowding into the streets in fear, rescuing their families from the dark blazes. Fear and anxiety, as well as anger and stress, were heightened. The energies in the air only strengthened the demonic side of the soul-eating Daemon-- a side that fed on it.
With the next building she had jumped to set aflame, Abeo turned to face the levitating Malik with a low chuckle. “You don’t even look like you’re breaking a sweat yet. That’s good…” she said, smirking. In the meantime, her entire body was coated in a dark aura that took on the shape of black flames. Without even lifting a finger, a black lightning bolt protruded from the aura and homed in on Malik. Her fire was spreading-- if he were distracted with her, her corruption would do the work for her. “Just like old times, right, Glitter Man? At least now you won’t be so much of a bore~”

The light wasn't out of control once he released it. No, it circled around in almost boomerang fashion, to keep the demonic being on her toes. He had a follow up attack going too, more of a whip in his hands, that could easily coil around her if she stayed still for too long. He wasn't going to give her much time to stand around talking, even as he deflected the black lightning with a short lived shield.

The light to move around and return hit the half-Daemon, which sent a flash of pain through her. However, her spiritual body was quick to kill off the light, however, and before the whip could make contact with her, Abeo had vanished; gone within the blink of an eye.
But not for long.
The Daemon would instantly reappear behind Malik, high in the air, with her arms wrapping gently around him. A simple embrace, while her aura of corruption would fight off any light that came from physical contact with him. “That’s more like it. A bit of action is always fun. It’s such a shame it’s all holy power, though. You’d be such a dazzling demon, given the chance,” she whispered softly, while trying to use her aura to enshroud him, and temporarily keep him from moving. The aura would attempt to provoke negative emotions of any sort-- anything that it could touch.
The corrupting heat from her black fires was spreading, and hopefully would fuel her aura as she tried to withstand the light of the holy being, and provoke any inner darkness it could.

Behind him. Bad choice. It was easy to weaponize the light which came from his shoulders and back. They came like a solid shell of spikes, fending off corrosion from the demonic aura, and making it dangerous for her to try and be clingy. From there he spun in mid air, one of his wings, becoming like a solid fist to punch her with. The fires might keep burning for now, but soon, he hoped to have them out too, just keep her busy for a little while longer.

Abeo had taken the hit head on, slightly surprised by his quick evolution into some sort of angelic holy being. She went skidding across the air, and had sustained wounds, with a black energy bleeding from them. Slowly, however, they would begin to regenerate.
"Not bad," she commented through a clenched smile. "Guess that means I'll have to get serious too. But... what fun is there in that?"
With a laugh, the half-Daemon dove towards the ground. "Catch me if you can~!" She challenged, beginning to race through the street below. Each building she passed, if it was not already on fire, was quickly set ablaze, too, by her corrupt aura. It did not end here; she was looking for something. And it would not be too hard to find.

He didn't pursue her.
It hadn't the visible spectrum. He hadn't weaponized it, but Malik had infused a good amount of his light through the air around him by now.
At his will it became visible and came down like holy rain, beating the fires into nonexistence, making it hard for more to kindle, and purifying the surroundings of much of the ambient corruption. It would likely be painful or weakening to Abeo as well, a thing he was hoping on since he wasn't giving chase.
There were a few downsides. He couldn't purify the corruption in human hearts set on holding onto it, a thing humans were often wont to do. Malik also had needed to use more energy on this than he had desired due to the fact that he hadn't been able to use water as a carrier. He wouldn't be able reclaim the energy spent to neutralize the flames either. This rain was a one shot attempt to put an end to the spread of the corruption quickly.

This guy was such a bore. Not even giving chase-- only seriously fighting when he had to. Well, she would need to change that. The light rain came down suddenly, however, making Abeo clench her teeth as the holy light from the rain painfully clashed with the darkness of the energy within. She was a Daemon-- she had the chance to pick and choose what type of souls to consume and steal the power from. She had chosen corrupt souls, mostly because they were more convenient and easier to stumble upon. Because her spirit was not balanced, holy energy was painful when she came into contact with it.
Finally ready to go to extremes, and seeing her black fires die down, a more solemn expression came over the tiny Daemon's face. Casually, she entered a half-roasted house-- what she needed would be in here. And finally after a few seconds, the corrupt spirit exited, holding a small seemingly human child by the neck with clawed hands. They were small enough that despite her being vertically challenged, the kid was held off of the ground. "Alright, Glitter Man, you want me to be serious? Here we go~" she said, tightening her hand around the child's throat.
She had chosen to be a demon of darkness. Almost nothing was beneath her.

Deep breaths helped Malik focus what energy of his remained.
Where was that... troublemaker. He'd expected another attack aimed at him, or to find her weakened enough by the rain to end this, but it didn't seem to be going that way. Despite his efforts, she'd avoided a lot of critical damage so far. It was frustrating.
And she appeared holding hostage a child. Now that was too far, not just for him but for nearby witnesses who knew that kid and its family even better than Malik did. Way to unite the town against her. No mother would leave a child that age alone in a crisis. She'd be the first and closest to attack. Pretty predictable with a cast iron cooking pot from behind, but she certainly had strong arms from all the house and childrearing she'd done over the years.
And then there were others coming to arms. That was the Delmarsh Malik knew. The people were fighters, hardy through and through.
Malik wasn't idle either. He closed the distance quickly. His light became a blade in an attempt to sever her arm, and no, it would not cut the child if he missed. He was making sure of that.
Between him and the citizens of Delmarsh who were starting to mobilize in a more unified way now, hopefully this could be ended soon.

Abeo chuckled as she felt the nearby souls provoked by her actions, and influenced by her corruption. She noticed the mother standing behind her, ready to defend the child. And as mothers were supposed to-- she would defend her kid with her life. That was how it should be, right?
If only she had ever known such kindness. A large spike of darkness jutted out from her hazy black aura, and ran itself right through the mother. Whether it was a killing strike or simply a severe injury, Abeo knew not, nor did she care.
She leaped high into the air as the others closed distance, as did the holy being. The light of the blade grazed her, but she was prepared for retaliation. She landed high in the air, as if she were idly walking on it like one would an invisible platform. The child was still in her hand, struggling for breath as he dangled over the city. “Now, now, that’s not the way to do it, to save this kid,” she snickered, gazing down at Malik with her crimson eyes. She kept her guard up, preparing for him to attack again.
“It wouldn’t take much for me to break this one’s neck, or to claim or consume his soul, y’know?” Abeo pointed out in a carefree manner. “There’s only one way to save him~”

Not all strong emotions were by themselves corrupt. There was such a thing as righteous anger among others. It felt totally different than such driven by something darker, though it wasn't always easy to see the difference when faced with such an emotion. Malik's feelings stemmed from pure intentions, hopefully.
Time spent talking was time wasted acting. He wasn't going to listen to Abeo, in fact he might not be actively listening to her words at all. He was more focused on fighting for the child.
His light shot upwards in another cutting attempt, which if it missed, transformed into barriers to prevent Abeo from getting too far. Malik was moving too, closing in through the air as he tightened those wall. He tried to tackle the kid, and pull him from her grasp. From there he'd focus on remedial healing if necessary, make sure there wasn't any lasting damage.
