Today was a great day, as to say it was merely a good day would discount the fact that every day which I lived under the grace of the Lord was a good day. The reason why today was great was that I was being sent out to do the job that the Lord had thrice-blessed me so that I could achieve it, I was to protect another one of his Chosen, often referred to as Mages, as they did their work. This is what I lived and trained for, the thing that I excelled at due to the gifts placed upon be by the Lord my God. As such, I had woken up early today so that I could prepare myself for the day ahead. A good meal, with Grace said of course, ablutions to purify myself, a trip to confession to rid myself of even the most minor of sins, and time to prepare my ritual implements and practice my stances so that I would not be even the slightest bit rusty. After all, from what I had been told about my assignment, it would all be necessary to keep my charge alive. Hence why they had called me to do it, after all, I was the best option for bodyguarding thanks to the immortality rendered onto me from God.
I left rather early, and thanks to my fitness and the fact that nobody really wanted to question or get in the way of a nun in full habit with rosary and all i made it to the place where I was supposed to meet my charge relatively early. It was a rather nice day in the park that we were supposed to meet at, so I decided to say a bit of a prayer and pull a loaf of bread out of my pack, one that most would assume was just there but I had most definitely conjured up, and begin to feed it to the birds that were there while I thought about the job that we were being sent to do. I only really paid attention to what was relevant to me however, as the other part was utterly inconsequential. After all, it had to do with the dreaded devil boxes that I so loathed, and it did not have to deal with destroying them, so I was rather not involved in the actual meat of the mission.
The mission in question was that I was to escort a member of the Virtual Adepts as they infiltrated their way into a stronghold for them, and then sabotaged their devil box system with whatever magics could deal with such blasted technology. I wasn't sure exactly how they were supposed to do that or whatever other things they were supposed to do while they were in there, but again, that really did not concern me. All I needed to do was make sure she didn't end up full of bullets, fried, or otherwise killed by the security forces there. And that was something I could most definitely handle, especially with the weapon I had concealed under my habit and the powerful blessings that my Lord had rendered upon me. So with that review done, I just waited for the person that I was to protect, and continued to feed the birds while I waited.

So the itinerary for today was to meet with a strange mage from the church, be escorted through a guarded facility full of Russian separatists to the local garrison commander's personal computer and do her thing. Maybe that last bit was too vague but the Virtual Adepts had never very much been in the business of telling her how to do her job and honestly she was still sifting through a few options but maybe she would take the option to make the Russian's turn on their local allies in the Donestk Oblast region. Maybe a keylogger do collect some useful information, an altered version of AFKcat just to fuck with them, and oh of course the single most important part of installing a rootkit onto as many computers as she physically could.
Veronika rolled from her bed in the bomb shelter turned personal safe house with a groan, still fully dressed from the night before and looking as amazing as she usually did. A hand through the hair here, a swish of mouthwash there and she was ready for the day before a half-hour had even broke. Of course seeing as she had woken up late by a half-hour already she was already late by a good bit of time. One last check to make sure she had her trinary smartphone, her headphones, an ever so important USB stick, and of course some programs already loaded up for whenever she met this other mage.
Apparently they were supposed to meet in a local park before moving onto the mission area so she had informed her contact to the VAs to send the other to Park Shcherbakova which was almost exactly in the center of the city of Donestk and wouldn't be a giant pain in the ass to get for to her and would also be quite the beautiful little location for someone to wait when a second-party was disgustingly late. The chill that ran across her exposed skin was none too helpful for moving through the urban sprawl, squeezing between alleys and some of the more slummy areas to make it before her partner would have to wait for more than an hour at this point.
Now one would assume that meeting someone you had been given no descriptor of besides them being a member of the Hermetics would make it difficult to find said person but Veronika had a secret she knew. Mages were weird fucks. Thus when she spotted a woman feeding ducks decked out with a cross and rosary, oh and the silver hair on someone who looks no more than a few years older than herself at best of course. "Привіт, вибачте за те, що чекаєш." She said in her native tongue naturally before realizing the other girl probably had no clue what she was saying.
"Ah sorry I have no clue what you speak so I'll default to english. Nice to meetcha, you seem super early."

As I was on my third or fourth loaf of bread, I had lost track at this point as it seemed that I had been waiting for quite a while already, I spotted someone coming out to meet me. Nobody had as much as given me the time of day up until now, just ignoring me as I spread bread and the good word to the animals of this place. I mostly got strange looks as I did so, but I ignored them. After all, Saint Francis, the first person to be blessed with the Stigmata of Christ, had once preached to the birds, so it only made sense to me that I should follow his example. The animals were also Creations of my Lord who had blessed me so, and as such they ought to have the good word spread to them. I did so in Latin, as that was the language that I defaulted to when I was praying and doing other faith related activities. After all, that was the language of the land through which my Lord had decided to spread the word of his Son through so that it may reach the entire world. As such, it was a language that was indeed apt for both prayer and the enactment of miracles.
In any case, this woman came up to me as I was offering a prayer over the birds and passing out more bread, and spoke to me first in Russian, which I absolutely did not understand, before switching over to a much more intelligible English. It wasn't my first or even my second language, but I indeed know it as it was important for studying the tomes that I studied in my time with the Hermetics. I smiled and greeted her with a gift of bread saying, "And peace be upon you as well, my sister in the Lord. Some might consider me early, but I believe that I arrived at the time that I did so that I could do the Lord's work here while I waited for you." Whether or not she took the bread, I would stand up before giving one last blessing to the birds and smiling to them, telling them to go in the name of Christ and spread the word to their brethren in Latin. They left quite quickly, and I turned back to the woman that I was supposed to meet here so that we could complete our mission.
"It is a pleasure to meet you as well, my name is Michela Vicario. May I ask your name? All I was given was a rough description and your association, I assume the same goes for you though," I said, giving her a smile before hiking my backpack over my shoulders and walking up closer to her, obviously waiting for her to lead the way. I did not even really comment on the fact that she was late for the meeting time, such things were unimportant, as it gave me the opportunity to spread the word of the Lord while I waited. "I shall leave the guiding to you, my sister. After all, you definitely know these parts far better than I do," I said, giving the smaller girl a smile as I waited, and would follow her should she begin to walk off.

Had she been preaching to the ducks at the park? It certainly seemed suspicious that she had been speaking in some form of latin while feeding the ducks breads and from the amount of crumbs spread across the grounds she had a feeling that there was more than enough spent to convert all of the ducks of this lake. Veronika wasn't one to comment on quirks of other people but maybe she should note this down for the future, it would be something to see someone preach to animals as if they could understand. Still she could work with this on some level it wasn't as if this Michela was a total nutjob or anything and with some luck she would actually be useful during this mission. "Right. Do you Lord's work and all that."
"My name's Veronika Semenov. I like Medovukha with my Chicken Kiev and I'm never against a good bottle or two of vodka. Ukranian born and raised and the current pain in the ass for the separatists in this city." She gave her short introduction to the other girl while turning on her heel and walking back towards the entrance of the park. Their destination was near enough that grabbing a vehicle wouldn't but far enough away that if the two put off walking any longer then they would end up in the middle of a compound full of Russian separatists and and Spetsnaz rather than just Ukrainian traitors. Maybe she should take longer to see how efficient this girl was at wholesale slaughter? Not like she had any mercy left for those supporting chronic terrorism in her city.
"Right so I'm guessing they just told you to look for a VA and didn't actually give you a rundown on what you're doing? Don't worry about it that's just a symptom of having almost no hierarchy to work with." She turns her head back to shoot the other woman a grin, there is a sharpness to it as she reminisces over the difficulties she had encountered in getting this little escort going in the first place. "I won't bore you with the nitty gritty though. I just need a meatshield that can cut up anything in my way. I could probably do this alone but I'd rather not have to use anything vulgar and risk being turned inside out. My body is not ready for that." she joked softly as the two entered once more into the tightly packed alleys of the inner-city.
"Don't touch anything computery when we get in there, alright? I'll open any doors we encounter if we can stay silent or we can just blow them off their hinges somehow and hope it looks like C4. I'm pretty good at being blatant so we shouldn't have much trouble." She gave another command to the other girl. Veronika hoped she wasn't seeming too rude but it was a rather important bit of mission in a long line of attacks she had been taking against the Russian forces and having it screwed to hell by a newbie would piss her off more than some would believe possible.
The portion of the city the two had entered felt oppressive in its atmosphere as the once open and relatively happy looking people were replaced by brick and mortar hounded by miscreants or those recruiters that would take anyone who wanted a little bit of pay to transport their materials. This was where the Separatists had been hiding from the Ukrainian defense forces for all these months among the dirt and the worms.

I smiled as the girl introduced herself, glad to be introduced to my charge. "It is a pleasure to meet you then, Veronika. We will have to go have a celebration after this is over where we partake in such delights. I will have to pass on the Vodka, however. Alcohol doesn't really agree with my constitution very much, I can't even take regular communion wine without tweaking it a bit with my blessings to make it non-alcoholic," I said, giving her an apologetic smile as I walked along with her. It was always a bit of a hassle in this day and age to be unable to partake in alcohol, but I did not mind too much. In excess, alcohol was a path to greater vice and lasciviousness that makes people stray off the path to the Lord our God. I did however decide that I should probably caution her on her language however, "I will say though that you would seem a lot more ladylike if you refrained from cursing like that. It detracts from the natural beauty that God has given you that shines through the roughness no doubt caused by the trials of this place that have made you who you are."
I nodded as I walked around behind her, though I did again find myself a bit saddened by her rather crass use of language. Naturally, someone chosen by the Lord ought to use their intellect in a way that allowed them to be an example for others, and as such I figured I should correct her on that later if we had time. "I was told about my mission, though the details did escape me since I am not familiar with...I believe you would call them computers. I do know that my job is to protect you and to eliminate anyone who seeks to harm you or stop you in your endeavors to finish your part of the mission," I smiled gently as I said that before adding a bit of a joke at the end, "Though I do believe you have been quite vulgar already, so one might say that your body was quite obviously ready for it." I wasn't sure if that would be funny to her, but it amused me a bit, and I honestly needed a bit of that when I was subjected to someone chosen by the lord not acting as a good example for others.
"There is no need to blow them off the hinges, with a proper applications of the gifts the Lord has given me, allowing us to pass through a wall would be easy, though rather against the laws of what man believes is possible," I said, giving her another option instead of blowing doors off of their hinges. I was not afraid of the backlash reality might drop on me for performing the miracles through the keys given to me by God. His other blessings kept me safe from them being anything more than a test of my will and strength after all. "I will however avoid the...computers without any need for you to tell me to do so. I do not get along very well with them or what they are connected to. It just doesn't really work for me even though I can handle most technology pretty fine," I said, a bit glad to know that I would not be forced to interact with those infernal things.
I looked around the area that we were in, and it seemed like we were where we needed to be. Turning to Veronika I asked, "What is the plan for getting in? I can use some of my magic to make us invisible and give us a distraction so that we can sneak in undetected, unless you have something already in mind for getting in?"

Ladylike? Natural god-gifted beauty? She had certainly gotten a prize among prizes with this one hadn't she? A religious nut who seemed to take offense at her use of swears as if she could help it. Rough people called for rough language and if she was honest it felt nice to relieve some tension with a good long list of curses sometimes. She had even shot down the lovely idea of simply blowing their way through the building until they hit the objective! The nerve of her to reject such a brilliant scheme while commenting that Veronika was vulgar enough. Not that she would be in the market to contest such a thing but the point stood it was rude if kinda funny.
"I'm ladylike enough thank you very much, but this isn't exactly the kind of place that cares very much whether you act proper or not and I don't have the time to care." She said somewhat petulantly, a frown on her face before she grinned at what she hoped was the joke about her vulgarity. It was a bit of a proud spot for her that she had the ability to perform so many of her feats out in the open and have such convincing lies to cover them up and adapt to the local reality, "Haha yes very funny. Truly a master of wit has graced me her presence." she replied with heavy sarcasm of course.
"Invisibility eh? Well I've never seen any magic outside of my own so I don't see why not. Kinda hard to imagine someone performing without the proper tools to go past the metacode but whatever I shouldn't be questioning things like magic so much." Finally the two stop at the end of another alley with the same dirty look as the ones to come and the ones they had passed. The only reason she knew this was the entrance to their local headquarters at all was thanks to a small amount of pre-work she had done to scout of the territory and pinpoint their I.Ps coming from the building.
The entrance in question was a steel grey door sitting under a yellow light with a card identifier lock positioned right next to it. It was anonymous and blank and one of dozens in other alleys and certainly not the main entrance to the building which made it perfect for sneaking through. With a wink to the other girl and a flick of her finger against the smartphone that had been pulled from one of many pockets the red light of the card read flicked green and the deadbolted door unlatched.
"I had some time to prepare for all this. So getting in won't be a problem. Though you can do you magic now or we can find somewhere inside, it won't be heavily patrolled until we get a bit deeper in seeing as they assumed that door was safe but rfid is surprisingly easy to copy when you have a trinary computer and access to some magic." She couldn't help but ramble as she thought of all the new toys she had used to get access to the base. Locks such as those were rare in these areas and to get to crack one open had been despairingly easy but still a new experience for the hacker.

I sighed and shook my head, unable to keep a bit of a frown off of my face as she acted so petulantly to a bit of advice about how to be a better example of a representative chosen by God to hold the keys of the universe. I supposed such a thing was a long term goal, and just another one of the trials that the Lord had set before me. I would not be surprised if I somehow ended up with this girl for the long haul, it seemed that she very much needed guidance and the Lord did indeed work in the most mysterious of ways. After all, the wielding of the Keys of the universe happened in so many different ways, including ones that seemed rather adverse to the teachings that the Church had put out. However, I could not complain, after all, it was His Will. I supposed it was simply a case of Man misinterpreting the ways that things ought to be done or people abusing the keys they had been giving, probably a mix of the two. I did, however, leave that be. I did not want to get into a petty squabble over such things when a mission was at hand.
"People wield their keys to the universe in many different ways, Veronika. I simply have chosen a line that interacts in a different way than your own," I said with a smile as I watched her work her magic through the technology that she seemed to have far more affinity for than I did. Now that she was done and we seemed to be preparing to enter the building, I enacted my Will upon the world through the symbols and inscriptions that had been woven into my clothing so that I could use them at any time that I pleased, and with a short prayer in Latin the effect came about. My nun's habit changed, becoming something more apt for fighting, with pads of armor plating across my upper chest and shoulders with a long skirt that still provided easy mobility. Seve daggers and my sword hung from my waist, out of hiding now that I had changed my clothing and more symbols and inscriptions could be seen across them and the armor if one looked.
I smiled at her and reached my hand out to place it on my head, before moving on to the invisibility effect. Combining my knowledge of Life, Correspondence, and Forces I wove the spell through my words and prayers, incanting the phrases four times in order to take advantage of the great power that laid in the numbers granted to us by the Lord. Light bent and warped around us as this occurred, and soon enough we found ourselves invisible but able to see, soundless but able to hear and speak to one another. "That should do for us now, I hope you can lead the way through the facility? I assume you know more about it's layout than I do by far."

Right so that was apparently a thing where weird mages were able to just change their clothing at will. Veronika was stuck between being impressed with the fact that such magic existed and calling bullshit on this her whole paradigm and system seeing as she was apparently a living closet with armory included as her clothing rippled and reshaped itself to what she hoped was Michela's whim and not those of another. Veronika nodded along while continuing to stare at the magic she had just witnessed before her partner performed another miracle of magic and the two became invisible. Was it really that easy to affect reality without the use of her own tools? No it was like the annoying nun had said, they only used different lines of the same thread.
"Right, well that was strange, wonderful, and interesting all at once and I'm not sure how I quite feel about that." She scratched under her chin as she processed the new tradition she had witnessed before shrugging and turning on a heel towards the door, for now it was probably best to not worry too much over the implications of such radically different ways resulting in such similar phenom. Rather what was relevant was getting through this base without being caught or shot full of a million small pieces of metal. "So I may not know the full layout of the base. I also may not know the exact room the computer I need to access is, but I do know the floor and the general vicinity! So as long as we survive until we get within spitting distance of it we should be fine."
So she should have done so more research on the building, sue her. Yeah the city blueprints would have been easy to get and of course she could have accessed the security cameras to get a crude layout but that would have meant taking time away from other projects which she felt were just as important if not more so. As Veronika entered the building she came face to face with a rather putrid smell as a large compact machine in the corner of the room gave off the stench of old food and decay. It made sense why she had never seen anyone leave from this way but it also brought into question why they would have such a terrible smelling trash compactor.
"Fuck me, well it could have been worse and we could have walked into a patrol." she whispered to Michela while pushing further into the room and spying through a door to the left side a concrete hallway with signs attending to watch for spills but little else of note. "Right maybe you should take the lead? I'm not exactly equipped for close combat and all we need to do is find the stairs up."

I smiled at her as she seemed to be rather in awe of the miracles that I performed, which seemed a bit odd but it was obvious that she was not familiar with the magic of the traditions so I could not blame her. "Such is the normal reaction to the miracles I create with the keys given to me by the Lord. You too are capable of such feats, one must simply realize that they are capable of using their keys in a certain way and that way becomes possible," I said, giving her a smile that she could only see since the magic I had woven made us still visible to each other through the bridge woven between our spaces with the powers of Correspondence. As to what she said next, I ended up simply sighing and shaking my head with a bit of a sad look, she really ought to be more prepared, that much was for sure. "When we get inside I will try to remedy that, I know a thing or two about sensing forces and matter from a distance so looking for the patterns that exist in those...things you like so much might yield us the rooms which have more of those than usual and lower the amount of places we have to look through," I said, giving her a quick fix to the issue that she seemed to have.
The rancid smell so disagreed with my senses that I simply could not take it, and with a quick prayer I shut off my ability to smell anything so that I could be released from that rancid odor. It was quite good that such a thing was easy for me, nobody could tell and it was a pretty easy feat to do, and as such it came quite immediately to bear when I offered up the correct words. I nodded when she said to take the lead, and drew my blade as I chanted a few more words so that I could expand my senses, looking for the places where silicon and electricity were running together, laying upon my eyes glowing points that represented any electronic devices in the facility. Some of them I assumed were not computers from their size, and it had the added benefit of giving me an idea of where guards were given the fact that I could see the electronics they were carrying moving around. I couldn't rule out that some didn't have any or that we would run into some that would be unable to be bypassed, but it did help immensely.
"This way, follow me," I said to Veronika as I gestured for her to follow me as we moved through the hallways, staying on guard for anyone who may be able to see through our invisibility or detect us in different ways. That would be quite annoying if it happened, but it would be a test that I was ready for. I was never hesitant to rise to the challenge to protect my charges, after all.

It seemed that the nun had a trick or two saved up her sleeve to make things easier, or at least Veronika assumed so once she saw the other woman stop and pray before moving on. She had refrained from using magic most of this time so as to not build up any paradox effect, and to limit how much she relied on her ability to hack the metacode but she supposed it would be useful for the two of them if she muddled around a bit with probability to make it less like the two would be seen on their way to the objective. Veronika once more began to scroll along the surface of her phone, looking through applications and program files before coming onto what she needed.
It was difficult sometimes to perform magic for her seeing as she needed so many instruments to act in tandem at once but with the use of her Brain/computer interface and a single command phrase the trinary smarthphone launched the program she had designed specifically for this. Tapping into the aspect of Entropy around the two of them to affect the probability of either of the two running into misfortune such as tripping or missing a vital detail significantly less likely and for the general events surrounding the two to be focused more on positive outcomes. She had no experience in the Life sphere but Entropy alone would work for long enough to finish this mission. There was no need to weave it into their code.
"Such a reliable nun, already knows her way around the dark, evil enemy base." she commented as the two continued forward into the base. At the far end of the next hallway the two turned into was a set of dimly lit stairs. On either side of the hall were unmarked wooden doors with no windows inside and no noise escaping. Veronika thought little of it as with both her Entropic aid and their invisibility it would be extremely unlikely for any regular human to find them, "Up we go." she tapped Michela on the back lightly as she hurried her forward, sure they couldn't see her but that didn't mean she was exactly interested in coming face to face with enemy soldiers.

I didn't really pay too much attention to what Veronika was doing on her phone, I had to work on trying to figure out where we were going since she had failed to work out an exact route beforehand. I was led to believe in my briefing that she would be the one doing that, but I supposed miscommunication happened quite a lot between the different traditions. This was not the first time I had arrived at a mission and my partner had been woefully underprepared for the mission at hand. Such was the state of the other traditions besides the Hermetics, I supposed. No wonder that they were the most influential and powerful throughout the ages, and that they had found me before the Choristers could have tried to bring me into their fold. I was quite glad that they had come to me first, it seemed to be a much better fit for me considering they were far more organized and structured, and above all, were the most disciplined of the different orders. I needed those things and expected them of others as I was raised rather strictly in the convent. It did take a while to get used to the magic of the hermetics, but it made enough sense when it was explained to me in terms that I could understand.
"I simply am using a bit of magick to sense for things that should be close to our target. It is nothing special really, even an amateur at Forces, Matter, and Correspondence could do something like this," I said, responding to her praise with a simple statement of fact. It was nothing to be proud of, it was rather simple magick after all. I made sure that nobody on either side of the stairs seemed to be coming close to the doors and with that I nodded and carefully advanced up the stairs and up to the next floor, keeping an eye out for enemies all the while. It seemed however that the security was tighter on the second floor, as it became obvious that a lot of the equipment was shielded from magic, as I could see things that appeared to be electronics with my eyes, but were quite dark to my magical senses. I motioned for her to stay back and said, "It's technocrat tech from here on in. A lot of it is shielded from magic with Primium and likely other techniques, so I can't track guards and computers as easily. Be on your guard, we might get ambushed. I recommend you be ready to put me between you and the bullets when they fly." With that, I began to slowly advance forward, ready to strike at whatever was coming my way and protect my charge.

Well la-di-da the Hermetic mage with her fancy magic and being able to expand her senses with the use of basic spheres. Sure Veronika could have done something similar just as easily and she knew fully well that if she applied herself with any manner of effort she could locate the computer she needed to access and the surveillance cameras she was sure dotted some part of the building to better map it out and predict patrols with her Entropy sphere. "I'll remember to piss you off more for sure." she whispered to herself while rolling her eyes and following Michela up the stairs. A quick glance to my phone showed certain portions of the local system shrouded in darkness, unable to be affected by my tech.
Those shithead technocrats were really beginning to get on Veronika's nerves with all the issues they were causing. First they decided that by some divine will they were allowed to exist at the same time as her and be an insult with their very nooby existence then they had apparently decided to team up with the Russian separatists who were also beginning to become a bigger pain in the ass then she had originally expected. Want to sneak into an enemy base easily with no one detecting you thanks to invisibility and the laws of probability themselves bending to you? Sure now all you have to do is contend with the one group that hates you the most.
"Of course it is. Can never be easy can it? Always somefuckingthing." she cursed quietly while taking a closer position to Michela. If need be she had some tricks of her own to get out of trouble and with any luck her partner could handle the situation. It of course wasn't that she was prone to abandoning allies in the heat of battle or particularly disliked Michela enough to do such a thing but it was best if she were able to get to a neutral place to attack from with her magic rather than be a burden in the middle of a firefight. The sharp sounds of boots slapping against concrete sounded behind them as a small patrol came from the floor above, soon to turn on the two while stationary sentry in the middle of the floor continued to scan the area with uncanny alertness.

I could tell where they were coming from, and I knew that they were coming with a purpose. Their technology was not completely shielded, a watch here, a walkie talkie there. I noticed a distinct lack of other things on them though, and as such I decided that for now the best thing to do would be to turn off my magic. The vision faded and I focused in on the situation at hand and I knew that I had a little bit of time before the patrol would be there. As such, I took the opportunity to enhance my body and my blade with the Primal energies of the universe. First, my body. With a short prayer I suffused my body with the primal essences of reality, finding my body invigorated and able to shrug off the worst of wounds with it's vitality, and the invigoration made me feel more alive than I could have ever felt otherwise. I knew that no matter how badly I was hurt, it would keep me going and I would be in no danger thanks to the Blessings laid upon me by the Lord my God. Next game my blade, and I quickly drew it across the palm of my hand, covering it in the same prime suffused blood that flowed through me, making it better and more capable of dealing severe damage to my foes. This was good, I was ready for them with only seconds to spare before they came barrelling down the stairs.
I knew that they could see me, their eyes obviously covered with some sort of technology. That and the fact that they were looking straight at me, and just as they started to fire their guns I dashed towards them, moving at speeds that would probably have made me seem more like an olympic runner than a nun in what appeared to be decently heavy armor. They opened fire with their powerful automatic rifles, and while many of them missed out of the surprise at my speed and being unable to adjust, a few of the bullets hit their mark in a couple different places of my body. However, none of it managed to harm me seriously, a few of the bullets bounced harmlessly off of my armor and one even found itself flattened against my forehead. I grinned wildly as I got into combat, the thrill of it sending shivers down my spine. I was doing the Lord's work, fighting His enemies with the gifts that He gave me, so it was only natural for me to enjoy such a thing. These beings were defying His Will by oppressing those who turned the keys to the universe after turning their back on Him and the Traditions.
With a brief incantation and a swing of my blade inscribed with the proper inscriptions, I launched my attack on the enemies at hand. My target was the one who seemed to be the captain of this arrangement, and as such I decided to take him out myself. They seemed to be sleepers accustomed to technomagic they have been given to see through my magic, so working on Coincidence with my blade was likely the best arrangement that I could do. There were fancier things, but this would do quite well. I enhanced the force of my swing with my Forces, striking out at the enemy at speeds that were barely within what one might think a human could accomplish. For a second, the man did not know what had hit them, and then his head came flying off as I rolled back out behind the wall to get some cover between myself and the shooters for a second to take advantage of the chaos that had just occurred. I hoped Veronika would have something to add to this firefight, but I would be preparing my finishing attack in the meantime, chanting while they tried to reorganize with their leader down. If I was to finish, I would need them to be distracted a bit longer than I thought they would, which meant that I was relying on my partner right now. If not, well I would have to continue the fight the old fashioned way.

Veronika took a moment, or two, or three, to observe the situation before her while the pad of her thumb rested against a hotkey on her phone. While it wasn't exactly the smartest move to make with performing a feat of time determinism out of nowhere she was relatively sure that as long as she stayed still during this process than the vulgarity would only be weighed against the force of time and she had so rarely used magic she was sure there was leeway to be had. Funnily enough the program she had devised for this had only been completed a few days prior so the fact it worked was nice. She would probably have to do something about the noise, and make sure the guard down the hall wasn't too aware of the fight taking place.
The moment time resumed it's normal grace and the nun shot forward, Veronika flew through the programs attached to her phone with her brain/computer interface and activated her magic just as the bullets were fired. Usually she would be a bit worried this would seem vulgar but the only people aware of what was happening was the patrol about to be murdered and the two mages. A simple use of her forces sphere allowed her to dampen the sound made by the automatic weapons firing. Rather than drain the energy from them she simply had the sound travel as far as her before rebounding. Sure it would be loud as hell but the only people to hear it would be them. The bullets on the other hand simply flew by her and she severely doubted the sentry would notice the silent pieces of metal pass him by near instantly.
So it seemed that the nun with all the answers was also secretly a superhero on her downtime who had decided to moonlight as a mage because Veronika was ninety percent sure that what she just saw was either a drug-fueled hallucination of a woman tanking bullets or the world of magic was grander than she had originally understood which was actually much more likely. It was actually sort of incredible to watch happen as the woman spun out her magick enhanced blade and cleanly sliced through the man's neck, which strangely took him a few seconds to realize had happened and if the two hadn't had such a bad start Veronika would have seriously wonder if Michela had done that to impress her with a meme. She would have to compliment the other girl again after this barring there were no more surprises for the two of them.
Thought it seemed like the nun was taking a break behind cover and the patrol had still not taken notice of her more than likely thanks to her entropic field. Well it seemed like she would have to put some actual work into this. She cancelled the program running the file of her entropic field and ran another file immediately. This one wasn't as precise as most others and rather it was simply something she had developed after being in so many firefights to cause the quick decay of gunpowder within a localized area. Was it entirely safe? No seeing as it would only stop the gun from completely firing and not actually help her but that was purely coincidental and not magic, and Entropy and Time together were rather hard to discover. With that she kicked the wall and brought the remaining two's attention to her and hoped that the nun got her shit together before they realized their guns wouldn't work and they had to cut her open.

Good, it seemed that whatever Veronika had done before had kept the other guard down the hall from noticing what just had happened. And she seemed to have something in mind to keep them distracted as she booted the wall, getting their attention just about as I was going to come into sight, keeping me out of their vision. I had been concentrating and chanting for quite a while now, magical energy building up through me and my form as I threw every ounce of magical might I had into the spell that I had been focusing. Sparks of lightning began to jump off me, hitting the surroundings and leaving miniature scorch marks as they continued to try to fire at her, but with no avail. They quickly realized that they ought to switch to their knives and charge her, but they had made the realization far too late. My chant finished, and with a final slice across my hand with my blade, my body became lightning. Not that it pulsed with lightning, not that I had donned an armor of lightning, but my entire body had been transmuted into the element that had long been a killer of men.
I was not done, not by a long shot. Faster than anyone could think, my form shot first through the guard closest to me and made it's way through him. It was not a process that any human being would have wanted to go through, his skin burning immediately, his blood boiling within his veins and his eyeballs popping from the sheer energy coursing through his veins as his body simply burst from the energies that he had failed to contain. I darted back and through the chest of the other man, the same thing happening to him as I left the grisly scene behind and darted down the hallway to the lone guard on the other side. He was even more unfortunate than the others, as I had lost a little bit of energy by the time that I reached him. As such, he did not so much explode as slowly boil from the inside, leaving behind a charred corpse that would have smelled like burnt flesh had I still had a nose. A fitting punishment for men who defied the Lord's Will and persecuted his Chosen with the harnessed power of the heathen Gods of old. They were destroyed with the power of their own hubris.
Using the last of my power I threw myself back to the junction of the hallways where I had left the corpses of the men who were the most immediate threat to Veronika and reformed my body, everything back to the way it was before the miracle I had just performed with the Keys given to me by the Lord. "Are you okay, Veronika? I hope that didn't give you too much of a scare. I do think we should probably get on our way before the reinforcements show up however, this way," I said, gesturing along to follow me as I continued to chase the energy signitures that indicated a large amount of or an extremely powerful devil box.
