NOIRA I fired the sphere out at the Angel, which he so rudely avoided on the spot. But that's okay it's what I wanted after all.
Just as he was preparing to charge once more the sphere rebounded, zooming at him once more. Predictably, he sensed it coming and fired another wave of energy, probably thinking I'd be dumb enough to try out the same thing twice.
But that's not what happened. Instead the sphere seemed to grow bigger as it flew at him, and boy did his eyes almost pop out when he saw this.
He quickly flew up, desperate to avoid the sphere as it tailed after him, but it was too late. I stretched my hand out, a smirk on my face as I held my hand as if it was a gun, aiming at the angel. "Bang," I muttered before firing out another, smaller and faster, sphere at him.
I didn't stop there, I couldn't after all. Instead I fired a quick round of similar dark spheres at him and while he was good at dodging them, it couldn't last.
Eventually they hit their mark, with many of the spheres piercing through his wings and limbs, but the best of all was the one that pierced right through his head, leaving him in a permanent state of shock as his hole filled body began to fall.
It was a shame he decided to both face and understimate me...or so I thought.
"That was a good trick, demon woman," I heard his voice behind me after I had turned around. I turned back to him, my face shocked when I saw him flying in front of me, the holes in his body regenerating. "But it'll take more than some erasing trick to defeat me!" he yelled out, thrusting his spear at me.
I quickly warped away, going higher and higher as he follow, stabbing at me and firing beams of whit energy. One of them pierced me without me noticing, causing me to wince in pain as it burned through my skin.
Damn it, my plan was supposed to be perfect, I was supposed to just kill off a bunch of demon nobodies and make my way up the ladder, maybe even get to meet the queen herself. Now I was pathetically being pushed back by a smug asshole who thought wearing feathers on his back made him cool.
Fuck, I got distracted.
The Angel was already in front of my face by the time I gathered my thoughts and was quick to pierce me with his spear, making me bite my lilps in an attempt to hold my screams.
But I still had an ace up my sleeve. One of the spheres from earlier quickly zoomed at us, blowing through the middle of the spear that acted as a bridge between him and me, freeing me. "What?" he said in shock, staring at the remains of his spear while I took the rest out.
What the asshole didn't know was that this particular type of shadows wasn't some kind of super powerful erasing magic, I wish it were that cool. All I did was condense the portals to my shadow realm into sphere and fire them out, allowing them to essentially absorb anything they blew past, though the bigger they were also made them slower.
Either way, I needed a way to get rid of this guy quick. I knew he wouldn't fall for a large one of those, and it would be too much of a risk to take him to my Shadow Realm.
That's when I remembered, the midget from before, the one that had sucked everyone into himself. Granted, I would have rather avoided him altogether, plus he was kind of creepy...but I was in a pinch.
With that I quickly warped away, leaving the angel altogether, though I knew he'd find me soon enough.
I began to search for the small demon not too far from where I am, quickly warping above him. "Hey, buddy," I stated, trying to sound as polite as ever. "Care to help a damsel in distress?"

With my head tilted upward, I watched the battles in the sky quietly. Despite the chaos falling around me, despite the chaos of demons tearing each other to bits, I just wasn't into it. Stuff just isn't as fun as it ought to be right now. Demons seemed completely edible and completely weak, or completely inedible and protected. I haven't been able to see a middle ground, though I haven't been looking very hard. Its too much work.
I've decided to engage if someone's coming at me, but right now that's it. I'm not even interested that much in the shadow swordswoman nearby, though I haven't forgotten her presence just in case. We both just seemed to be parallel observers for a little while.
It didn't stay that way for long. The sky opened up with a terrible sound. True light uncommon here, poured in from the beings who thought to call us all lords of destruction. I didn't even get much sway in this place being a thing who ought to be in the physical realm, and they thought they would? It was kind of funny.
But... If they were from outside, then they probably wouldn't have the same protections that the greater demons and the landscape seemed to have against me. No one could see it with me stuck in a shadowform, but I was able to smile at this hope.
Some of the demons had turned to fight them, others were more keen on fighting their own battles until they got a reality check from some angel's bolt of light. The swordlady who'd been near was already up the fighting too but still I was cool with staying on the ground, staying out of it.
but there was this itch, a curiosity buzzing in my awareness. These fights interested me far more than the ones against demon kind. I might even join in.
I stepped forward, but stopped soon after as that warping lady came back. Looked like she'd taken a few hits by now.
and she was asking for 'help'
why was I always so popular with the ladies?
"don't kid me, I'm just after the free chicken wings." I almost laugh. I know she's no damsel. I'm no knight in shining armor either, but I know one thing. I was planning to engage with the angels anyway, at least to see if they happened to be edible.
There was little time to negotiate. The angel might not warp here, but he could move fast, making up the distance in far less time than it took to talk.
A high speed dodgeball of raw light energy streaked near. It had been aimed at her, but it was possible for even an angel to miss once in a while. As it came close to me, the course of the projectile began to bend a bit orbiting back around in a wide arc to fly off in an unintended direction. That was a very good sign. My gravitational force could affect their light.
Of course the angel was fast incoming with a closer attack with a newly formed spear to replace the ones which had been broken. He looked pretty upset too. What had she done to piss him off like that?
I decided I might as well come in between her and that attack. I pushed space around me, to end up at her back. It was easier and faster than to bother with old tricks I used to rely on.
The angel's weapon met no resistance. It was not stopped when the spear ran past the edge of my darkness. I could feel it from there. The weapon, possibly the whole angel housed powerful condensed energy no matter how physical it looked, and I could actually take it in. Even when the angel gained the wherewithal to pull back, and to reform what he'd lost, it was clear he wasn't all there. I Think this is going to be a better fight than I thought. flaze

A great battle was occurring in the harbor. While many ships already were or had set sail for the sea where they could fight at full force, others didn't have the chance to cast off.
Some ships had been sabotaged, pirates fighting against the light of fires and tromping across the docks
Pirates fought each other as they did out on the open ocean, sabotaging each other's ships or trying to move their vessels to more advantageous positions. Besides each other they had other demons to contend with, and, most recently, a flock of invaders upon the plane itself. Many bodies fell or were thrown into the waters.
The giant fish remained unaware of and uncaring for all the squabbling in the air and the land; all he wanted was the dying. He swam slowly, his pressure sense going off every time a ship began to split apart, its sound sending ripples through the ocean, or another body plopped beneath the foam. An oil spill in depths of ink, thin tendrils of shining mercury trailing from his wounds, he kept his mouth ajar, filter-feeding among the dead.
Although some bodies had become bloated enough to sink (or were simply naturally dense), many more floated upon the surface. Slowly he rose until his back began to crest the dark waves, moving in the languid arcs and swerves characteristic of many such sea serpents.
He didn't bother with the ships; there was no need to with so many bodies already drifting. He ignored any stray attacks that scratched his hide; when something hurt more than it itched he simply submerged for a few minutes, waiting for whatever it was to pass over.
Apparently not everything was so keen on ignoring him as he was of them.
A crest of light dove down beneath the waves, shining brightly through the murk like the beam of a lantern. Amber eyes turned to stare at the haunting glow as it bobbed and weaved among the currents like a dust mote against glass.
Whatever it was, it was clearly not suited to swimming. He began to swim towards it, but it had already kicked out, popping out of the ocean.
Seconds later and he was twisting against searing pain. Columns of bubbles roared out from his gills, the serpent turning immediately and snapping his jaws at the [relatively] tiny offender. He managed to catch a chunk of marble and a tooth clustered with feathers.
A line of light slid back out of sight, but a bright foreign glow remained in his back, golden instead of the silver of his blood. He twisted around, nosing at the wound while mercury poured out of it, its own dim glow dashed by what had been scraped and then shoved into his flesh.
The frilled shark pulled his mouth around the shining spear, gripping it with his strangely shaped teeth. He jerked back when the object touched his jaws, the light burning his maw.
A flicker of motion, light, and pressure alerted the serpent. He swerved out of the way, and the ray of light sped past him, down into the darkness.
The serpent swirled, rotated his body into a spiral, pinching his sides together into a tight, coiled loop. He expected that whatever was making the light to have its buoyancy bounce it back up as it had seemed to do before, and kept himself tense, ready to snap out like a spring let loose. Instead the ray shrunk into a sphere of light and the darkness slowly began to close back in around him. The dot began to sink.
Perplexed, the serpent relaxed his muscles, and slowly began to dive after the object. Second by second the light started to fade, the eel closing the distance between them.
A few bright lights knocked him across the face and the fish reeled back against the pain, swinging out with his tail. The light went flying and then it blinked out entirely.
The animal writhed in the water until the pain began to subside, whereupon he started to search for what had done it. A faint chemical trail led him deep to where the waters of the bright and the waters of the dark met, the stony body caught sinking between the two deepest points of each, its rollings and tumblings egged on by shifting currents.
Tentatively he nosed it, and when he felt no pain the serpent swallowed the carved marble. Then he spun about once more, searching his back. The light there had also faded, little more than a stone spear stuck in his spine.
He left it alone and returned to the surface of the darksky, gills fluttering as his head poked out above the waves. After snapping at a bat that flew too close he resumed feeding on the drowned, the sounds of conflict that traveled through sky muffled to a beast so at home in the sea.

NOIRA There weren't enough words to describe the smile that went through my face when I saw the smaller demon being able to block, no, absorb, the angel's attacks. He was just what I needed.
"Why thank you," I said to him with a grin as the Angel retreated a bit. "In that case, I'll let you have some high grade wings, just wait for my signal," I whispered to him before vanishing into the shadows.
I appeared in front of the angel, taking him by surprise as I attacked with my shadow scythe. He managed to barely avoid it, but fell for a blast of my shadow attack, which sent him flying back.
I quickly warped next to him, landing a kick straight to his face as shadows emerged from the floor and wrapped around his legs and arms, keeping him in place.
"Now!" I yelled at Sem.
"Enough!" the angel screamed, having lost every shred of superiority he had and letting his rage shine through as he blasted the shadows away.
But...that was exactly what I wanted.
I lashed my hands out, creating a pair of spinning disks made with the same types of shadows as the spheres from before. I moved quickly and before he could react slashed his body in half, cutting him from the waist down. The general shock from this, if taken advantage of would be enough for my ally to absorb him without any resistance.
Of course, I warped out of the way just to make sure not to get caught up in it. SHADOW DANCER CHAOTIC NEUTRAL | 200 | female

Very well.
I shifted myself out of the way of the fight and waited.
But I wasn't allowed to remain idle as I got hit from above by another angel's insanely bright attack.
I could absorb quite a lot, but this was well chosen: Matter-annihilating, or at least intended to be. The structure of the attack didn't hold up well enough against my gravity to do much damage, but it certainly knocked my awareness back towards the primordial for a few moments. I almost missed the demon lady's call to action because of how much it limited my senses.
The new angel didn't look pleased as I pulled my back into humanoid shape from the large gravity sphere I'd nearly been reduced to. "That...should have worked." She complained, shaken in the fact that her calculations had gone awry. This kind of surprise made her slow. Slow meant an opportunity. I wasn't planning to exchange in banter when I could try to catch her.
I closed the distance the same way I'd moved to take the pinned one's spear attack. She zipped out of the way fast enough that my own portal placed where she'd been moments before grabbed nothing but necropoleptian air. Oh well. Maybe on the come back.
Instead of pursuing her, I dove at her shadow-pinned realm-mate. Tendrils of light crisscrossed the halves of his body. He was trying to mend the damage after the lady's disembowling blows. Had I let myself be distracted by the other angel, he might have found a way to break free before I could have gotten to him. As I came, I could see him trying to draw up energy into some kind of defense but by then I was closing my darkness around him. There was very little fight from him after that.
The process of consuming him, near instantaneous as it was, was not yet complete by the time the other angel brought about some new attack at me. Between four hands there were twelve ribbon-like light whips. Six had been skillfully extended to try to wrap around me. Six were coming around as a follow up. This time the energy had been modified to resist my nature. I could end up trapped as the ribbons refused to sink past my dark edges. flaze

Lords of rot and destruction, aye? How dramatic... Angels were not alien to Kevven. The celestials existed on his home world as well. In many different variations and forms, but all just as pretentious. Naturally, as the pack of angelic beings descended on the warring citizens, Kevven slipped into the nearby shadows and hid perfectly as they flew overhead. There were plenty of others for the angels to have their conflict with. Safely within the shadows, he reached into a small pouch hanging off from his belt and pulled out a green apple from within.
After leaning against a shadow covered wall, he took a big chomp out of the fruit. The crunch from the apple would be loud enough to give away his position to anyone skilled enough to pick it up over all the fighting. But Kevven was happy to just sit back. And why shouldn’t he be? This world was all new to him, he didn’t know anything about anyone around him. And to him, both sides seemed like a gaggle of assholes. And if they weren't, they were like him. Stuck in the middle of this fighting. It was better not to jump into unknown dangers, he told himself.
Self defense was all he was fighting for to begin with. The young rogue told himself that he would watch this thing go down, and maybe he could learn a thing or two in the process. One of the talented fighters(Sem) had initially caught his eye. Mostly in fear that the lad might need some help. But it quickly became clear that he could handle himself, maybe even better than Kevven could. He watched Sem and Noira’s battle intently. In his days, he had seen many powerful beings. But never anything quite like Sem.

NOIRA Things just can't go my way can they? Just when I thought everything had gone smoothly in capturing the angel another one of those pesky bird brained idiots to come sweeping in and mess it up. Thankfully the angel that had been bothering me was gotten rid of easily.
That led me with another issue, now that he had helped me, should I help the little guy in exchange. A more chivalrous person would've done it, but I've never considered myself as someone in that particular type.
But at the same time. This guy's power was pretty useful, and while I wouldn't want him on my bad side, if I could keep him around then he might make things a lot easier for me.
So without a second thought I threw the disks I had materialized forward, using them to cut through the strings and free my partner in crime. "Need a hand?" I asked cheekily. SHADOW DANCER CHAOTIC NEUTRAL | 200 | female

A certain nuisance might think that i'm stupid at best and incompetent at worst but in this I'd have found a way to manage. Fortunately I didn't have to get out of the angel's grasp on my own. Shadow lady came to the rescue with her portal-blades. These did their job. The ribbons snapped. As the ribbons weakened, gravity claimed the broken halves. Only the angel's will had kept them inedible in the first place.
"Thanks lady." I'd have been grinnig if I had a face to show it, but the problem of the new angel wasn't over yet.
The angel adjusted her attack. A slight shift and the whips shot towards the shadow lady instead of me, twisting into a potentially binding set of restraints. These were followed up by a storm of bladed feathers plentiful as stinging rain. The shadow lady's position compared to mine made it difficult for me to cover the distance to defend her in time before I too had to fight aganst the feather storm. She was on her own to deal with the attack.
But I was also looking for openings. If I got a chance to get close enough, I could send that angel on a one way trip to her friend's grave. flaze

NOIRA "Bothersome," Noira pointed out with a smirk as she vanished from the moment the whips reached her. She quickly appeared behind the woman a smirk in her face as she threw her right arm forward, creating a spear of shadows to pierce through the woman's chest.
The angel gritted her teeth at being pierce, only for the shadows to stretch out and slash her body in multiple pieces. "Sweet dreams!" Noira yelled out as she started slashing around, relentlessly cutting up the angel and not giving her an inch to regenerate.
Once she felt she had cut her victim down enough she turned towards Sem. "Here, your second course." She presented with a slight courtsey. SHADOW DANCER CHAOTIC NEUTRAL | 200 | female

Aww. She found an opening before I did. I didn't need the angel cut down that much,(I hoped) but good food was good food. I gladly took the opportunity.
Enveloping her was easy now. I could feel the resistance of her will even though her body could not keep up any longer. Even when she was well trapped within my edges I could tell she was fighting feebly, trying to keep herself together. Naturally, it wasn't working.
Angels were never meant to be vulnerable to singularities but somehow I'd swallowed two. The feeling of having all that power succumb to my gravity a great change compared to the boredom I usually had with meals. I'd like a little more effort in the hunt on my part, but otherwise I was having fun for the first time in ages. I wanted it to continue.
"thanks! I'm going after more. Wanna help?" I bid, before dashing off down the way. Why wait to be fed when maybe next time I can take a more proactive stance? I kept an eye out for angels who were already engaged and distracted. I had a hunch that those might be the easiest to overpower even if they were more in tact than the first two.

NOIRA Noira glanced at Sem as he began moving away. One part of her wanted to go back to the way she was doing things, but with his powers he could certainly prove to be an useful ally.
However, she did have her eyes set on someone, someone higher. She glanced upwards, looking at the Angel that had started it all, their leader. "You know. We can keep going after small fry...or," she turned to Sem with a smirk.
She vanished and reappeared before him once more, a grin on her face. "We could go after the big fish. He's the one that ruined my fun and we can't really let him just hang around there," that and she figured the Queen would really approve of her if she helped take down a high level angel. I stopped once she appeared back before me. Well I couldn't go forward now could I, if she was going to get in the way. I was tempted to tell her to move but she clearly had ideas that were more lofty than my goals.
The big angel. I looked upwards. He didn't look nearly as easy as the others had been, but it was certainly tempting. "Lets do it." I decided after a moment. I'd proven myself pretty hardy already. I didn't mind trying to be fishbait.
I shifted myself closer to the big guy, pushing time and space around me to make the movement quick. Charging forward, I tried to latch on to the guy in a hug around any one of his limbs. I'd probably be only a small annoyance, but fishbait wasn't supposed to cause the most damage, just get the fish biting.
