Choushin was sitting by himself within a library in the city of Eokia, his kitsune ears and tail showing, knowing how this town was more welcoming of supernatural beings. He had been coming here quite a bit lately because there was something he was wanting to learn more about. With a decision he made that seemed good at first, but now he was starting to want it reversed, he was trying his best to find information on that. Whether it be at the library, or within other realms. However, he never got the answer he was looking for, and he didn't have comparatively to him, all the time in the world to find an answer. He had a pile of books around him, about topics about the soul, seeing if he could find anything useful in here. That or someone to hopefully come along to assist him with the topic.

The large library in Akuzeth, one of the large, multi-cultural eokian cities, was well acclaimed for the amount of information that it stored. There were huge sections on everything from numerology, to astrology, to divination, to fiction, so Brush could always find something new to look at. The dragon could get lost for hours in a reading alcove with books scrolls, and more surrounding her when she visited most days, but today she was looking for something quite specific.
A map, a map, but not just any map. She was looking for a map of the dreaming realms. Of course dreaming wasn't far off from spiritology and spirituality. There were quite a few places where lore intersected across multiple topics. The quadrupedal dragon walked past, the outer edge of one of the shelves, after which there happened to be a few tables and chairs, (where a certain fox was sitting), looking up at the titles of tomes on the higher shelves to see if she could find what she was looking for up there. Instead the subject was changing, far more into soul-lore, and far less into spirit-lore, and yes there was a difference between the two.

Choushin was looking over a book when he heard something approach him. His ears twisted a bit to listen better, as he heard footsteps, but not the kind that come from two feet. He figured it was a four legged creature walking by him. He then saw what looked like a dragon come around the corner and look at some of the shelves near where he was sitting. He didn't think much of them at first, going back into his reading.
Then a thought came into his head: What if they knew something about a being's soul, and how to possibly go about removing the hold another being would have on it. It certainly wouldn't hurt him to ask, and that's what he was going to do. Setting his book down after he set a small piece of paper as a bookmark in it, he looked at the dragon. He was just going to try an ice-breaker of sorts right now, just to see if they were friendly or not.
"Salutations. Are you perhaps looking for something in particular here? I've been coming here quite a bit myself, despite that others think a library is boring." Choushin said to her, a kind tone and smile as he spoke. This would tell him if they would be willing to chat with him so he could ask his question.

< walked into the library, indigo eyes taking in the vast nature of the building's display.
"Amazing," the relation muttered to himself.
Stepping across the marble floor, the blue sandhill crane tilted his head to take in the domed atrium, watching how the light played across the bookshelves. Gradually his gaze fell with the rays, and the avian directed his bill to the books themselves.
It reminded him of the Library of Babel, only a lot more lavishly decorated, and a lot less strictly ordered in geometric proportions and numerical count. As a plus, it was probably not filled to the brim with nonsense tomes and increasingly minute variations between texts.
If only he could actually read.
Unfortunately the array of knowledge was not arranged by the Dewey Decimal Classification, and the languages portrayed in signage were not ones that he could read. The crane walked for a while in silence, scanning the titles of books he could not parse, until his wandering gaze crossed over a pair of fellow visitors.
One sat at a table with a pile of books clustered around him, behind whom the other was staring at the bookshelves. His footsteps paused as one of them became vocal, the words filtering through his head. He could understand it.
Slowly, smoothly he slid into a corridor between two nearby bookshelves, pretending to look over the spines while listening in to whatever conversation might crop up.

Long ears tracked the sound of an unexpected voice. The young dragon turned to see who had spoken, surprised to notice an unfamiliar humanoid fox. "Well they're missing out." The furry dragon stated regarding those who might find a library boring. There were worlds to find in a library when one took the time to discover them.
"I'm looking for some things for my own knowledge. Dream cartography. Nothing big." She replied considering her search far from urgent. "What about you?" Night-blue eyes glanced over the titles of books on the table. Soul lore. A heavy topic.

Choushin yawned. "Ah. That is something I'm not sure I'm familiar with. As for why I'm here, let's just say I'm trying to find out how to break a contract one has on a soul. Just to see if it's possible and how to go about doing so. After all, people do say that rules were meant to be broken." He said as he looked around once more. He heard something else approach them, and kept an ear tilted towards their direction, ready to react if they moved. "And yet it seems like we have more to our little party here." He said in an absentminded tone.

Feathers bristled briefly from atop his shoulders, the crane quickly glancing down the aisle of bookshelves, away from the conversing duo. Apparently his move wasn't as subtle as he had tried to make it seem.
After a moment the bird removed himself from between the shelves, stepping back out into the open. A meek grin creased the corners of his bill as a wing was lifted, brushing against the back of his head.
"Sorry, sorry," he said with a laugh, hoping to ease any tension. "I don't mean to eavesdrop, I only...." Actually, he didn't have a good excuse; he had simply been curious.
The avian cleared his throat, apologized again, and pulled at the feathers of his chest with the primaries of his wings, as though he were straightening the lapel of a suit.
"Perhaps I can help?" he offered as an amendment to his misstep. He wouldn't mind in the least; quite the contrary, he'd be delighted to offer his assistance. Yet, for all he knew, the library possessed the knowledge which the two sought, and his offer was far from necessary.
"I possess private scrolls charting the geometry of various dreams, and books relating operands and operations." Dreamscapes tended to be very shifty and unpredictable places, and yet patterns in the permutations weren't entirely uncommon. Unfortunately the way he worded it made it sound more like he was talking specifically about mathematics, or only mathematically based dreams.
"And I'm sure I have a page buried somewhere for what you seek," he continued, turning towards the child with beastly ears and tail. He didn't know much about souls himself, but he had always liked to collect odds and ends when it came to disciplines besides the subjects he specialized in; there was some likelihood that he had something on the matter somewhere. In fact, he thought that he could recall reading something similar before while rifling through his pile of gathered documents...but had it been on soul contracts, or was it instead on crooked contracts?
There was a pause before he added, "But I could also tell you that you should simply find the one with whom you've drawn up the contract. Better to dissolve it mutually than risk breaking it and ruining yourself in the process. It would be such a waste."

Brush didn't think of anyone else being near as odd. It was a library. There was no reason why there wouldn't be other persons around be they eavesdroppers or not. There was nothing especially secret about these conversations usually as well. Brush didn't feel bothered or even aware of someone listening till Choshin pointed it out.
A bird. Sometimes she'd heard that the owner of this place took the form of a bird, but not a kind such as this. "I'm sorry, do you work here?" the dragon asked, guessing that the crane might just be an employee of sorts given the way he was speaking.
The dragon pushed the matter of the dreaming for later, not even giving it another mention as that search could wait for latter. With a light breeze she pulled out a title from one of the upper shelve and gently brought it down to eye level. The book hovered in front of her a she perused the index to see if Choshin's topic might come up.
The bird's talk of contracts and private documents reminded her of something. "Actually soul stuff like that might be in the private records." The public section of the library didn't have all the information the library housed. "Contracts and bindings are pretty sensitive topics. but yeah, in stories, the heroes usually end up needing to confront the person who bound them, or retrace their steps somehow to break it." Not all stories of course held accurate information.

Choushin nodded his head. "I guess I'm going to have to play hide and seek with the one with a claim on my soul, then. Given that they're not easy to find and I can't summon them at will, but I would still like to be prepared to beat them at their own game first. As for dreams, I know that I can manipulate others minds with illusions, mind control, or possession, but I've never tried dreams before. Might have to try that at some point." He said, covering both of those such topics that were covered in the discussion. He checked his pockets, and everything that needed to be in there was in there.
He then yawned. "We can either now share life experiences, chat, play a game, or just read, I guess." He said as he looked back at the pile of books he would have to put back.

<'s eyes trailed back over to the large quadruped.
"No, no," he said with a shake of his head, "I am merely a visitor." He was no employee of the library, although...such work wouldn't be a bad secondary job, he reflected, IF he could read the darn books. He might have to give it some thought--later. "I speak of my personal stores."
While the beast brought down a book with some manner of magic, the crane straightened a few buoyant feathers upon his body, listening to the kemonomimi.
The last sentence brought a smile to the avian's face. Ah, children...a rather well-spoken child, but still.
"Would either of you be kind enough to point me towards the mathematics section?" he queried, not too interested in the other options that had been brought up. Although he knew he probably wouldn't be able to read the books, perhaps he might still be able to recognize whatever mathematical notation these languages used.

Not very promising.
Brush put the book back and summoned out another tome checking over its contents the same as the last one. If choushin was paying attention, he might notice that the dragon put up some mental barriers as soon as he mentioned his powers to manipulate such things. It wasn't something she was keen to participate with nor end up a victim of. She valued her mental autonomy.
The dragon answered the avian first. "Math is down a floor. There's a door to a stairway in a wall on the right side of the building." Brush explained nearly without thought. She knew the library well enough to know the general sections. "After that you'll need to head to the east wing there's usually some writing boards over there for people who like to fiddle with figures." Libraries could often look a lot the same in different sections so Brush was glad there was something to point out as a landmarker.
This book seemed more likely to have something useful so she set it open on the table. The chapter title the book was flipped to read 'The soul: what it is and isn't'. Her attention turned back to the shelved titles as she finally answered the fox, choosing to ignore some of the topics. She was still keen on the original problem proposed. She did not want to veer off into dreams or chat or games. "Don't drop the hunt too soon." She chided. "You'll need to find out as much as you can about that person and your situation." Brush began focusing on the matter of the one who'd laid claim on him. "The nature of his powers, the nature of the contract. If you have it on a document you can scour it for loopholes. you can research the species too." She didn't think that choushin would be as likely to succeed if he let himself be distracted too easily.
She plopped down another book on soul lore leaving it open to a page of diagrams.

Choushin yawned. "Well, do either of you know a lot about Daemons? One of them has invaded themselves into my soul, and if what you two are saying about this whole thing is true, then I'll need to be one prepared feline to chase the crafty invasive species out of my soul." He said, now thinking that he needed to find books about Daemons, so he could come prepared to drive Alice out of the claim she has so he could be himself fully again.

The bird logged the directions in his mind with a quiet thanks. He started off, but paused as another book was blown from the shelves. A gust of wind flipped the pages over, the quadruped chiding the child.
A slight smile creased the corners of his bill once more, the avian taking a few steps back to glance curiously over the pages of the book. The diagram was only mildly familiar with some specific geometrical structure, but misaligned in such a way that it was a little too off.
Even without being able to read the labels, he could tell that the subject was once more nothing he recognized very well; he best leave it to the teacher who was obviously far better suited to this task than he was.
He looked up when another question was poised by the child. "Daemon?" he said, the puzzlement clear in his tone. "Do you mean the physical incarnations of human souls?" Even as he said it, it didn't sound quite right.
The avian shook his head and stepped back, giving room while the dragon pulled another book down and plopped it onto the table. The mammal might know more, so he decided to stick around, if only for a little while longer, hovering behind the pair as he listened in. The math books could wait; here was a chance to learn something new.

The fox's talk had changed, adding new information which seemed inconsistent with some of the things he'd either said or implied with his previous words. "I thought you said you couldn't find him." Brush pointed out, dutifully plopping a new book on the table. This one about spiritual invasive species. "Look in there to see if you can find anything about daemons." Brush couldn't play knowledgeable on such a species. "If its a soul invasion there should be some sort of way to contact him through your own soul. The books may also tell you other answers better than I could too."

Choushin shrugged. "How should I know. I know that she makes deals with others for their souls. They told me that directly. As for the question on finding her, it ain't like I can call her to me. As far as I know, she wants to stay hidden from me, which means I need to get creative to find her again. Either that, or learn enough about Daemons that I can force her to do one thing I wish for her to do." He said. He picked up the book and began to flip through it, not sure if he would find something new in it. "And if she would try to destroy my soul, I can keep it in another dimension she can't reach." He added, jotting down some notes as to what he found in the book so far.
