*no human/humanoid characters in this thread please, only creatures.
The beat of wings and the shadow on the ground in the fading light indicated the landing of a creature from the sky to the ground. The landing was heavy, but the stature of the creature was small, no longer than a yard, and no thicker than a water bottle, except for the wings. the bat like wings were huge. After the awkward landing, these were instantly folded up, to be out of the way, and act like arms, for the long creature had no arms but this one pair of wings, and no legs either. Except for the wings and two heads, they were like any snake.
Both heads turned to look behind them at the child who had made it this far on foot. though the furry kid had wings as well, the conjoined twins had yet to see them used for flight. If both flew they could travel faster, but the child had made a good effort to keep up. "Good job kid. we'll look for a place to stop now." one of the snake's heads spoke in a intellectual, and gentle voice. whether the kid understood or not, she did not say anything. she simply kept walking forward till she caught up with the snake, and after that just kept walking as if she'd gone into automatic.
The winged snake hooked the child and pulled her back with their tail. "slow down." the same head who had spoken before encouraged. "we're going that way." It has not started yet, but the wind was beginning to pick up and the humidity in the air hinted at a storm coming through. Exploring could not happen now. maybe Another day.
As the snake herded the child through the grass, the wind picked up, pulling at the wings of the two creatures and bringing the rain in torrents. It was a good thing the conjoined twins had landed when they did or they might have been at the mercy of the wind. It was very lucky that they found a old building towering in the dark, for by the time they reached the place both creatures were soaked and chilled to the bone.
The little furry four legged child squawked in protest as the snake pushed her towards the door. she hated doors but the need for a dry place won out over the dislike, and the snake succeeded in pushing her inside. The building was uninhabited by humans for a long time, and it was leaky, but many parts were dry.
The child shook like a dog to get rid of all the rain on her pelt. This left her longish fur sticking out in all directions. The child stood where she was after that, looking pretty miserable.
The snake actually took some time to look around, for they sensed something warm already here and that meant there was probably a living creature.

Inside the building was Taige. He had come in here in order to get out of the rain, and once he knew it was clear of humans, he had come in. He knew that humans hadn't been here in a long time, considering he didn't catch scent of them at all. While the building had leaks in it, it was mostly dry so he could stay out of the rain until it passes over so he can get back to exploring.
The building wasn't something he had seen, so his curious side got to the best of him and he began to poke around to find something useful or entertaining. Eventually, he found himself a vase. He didn't know it was a vase, but he knew that it wobbled back and forth as he pawed at it. Smiling, he continued to paw at it, until he heard the door open. This caused a lapse in judgement from him, and made the vase fall over, but he was able to cushion the fall with a gust of wind so it wouldn't break. He hopped down from where he was and moved to investigate the new wet scents that came in.

She had smelt the rain on the wind, yet, for some reason, she had ignored the need to look for cover early on. So absorbed in her self-taught flying lesson, she paid less attention to the gathering storm clothes and more so to her lack of form as she launched off the ground again and again, only to come crashing back down to the earth. Thankfully, her ruffled gray and brown coat managed to make the dirt and dust gathering in her pelt from rough landings less visible.
By the time she realized the rushing wind was more than a simple strong breeze, it was too late to find a suitable hiding place. The rain was soon pouring down in torrents, battering Auru as she raced out of the open and between the trees that offered little relief from the storm. Her thick coat and feathers soaked through, she shivered from the cold rain, her pale eyes narrowed and searching desperately for any place that could shelter her.
She didn't need to look long before the shadow of what appeared to be a building was visible through the stinging curtains of rain. Despite the uneasy feeling in her stomach as she approached the foreign structure, it was better than the alternative.
Wings raised and tilted to slightly shield her head from the wind gusts, she walked to the opening that lead to the shadowed interior, her nose twitching as new scents reached it and causing her to freeze even though she was more than half-way out of the building itself. Her body shook involuntarily, dispelling water from her pelt against the doorway, and she cautiously took another couple steps inside, eyes adjusting to the darkness and picking out two strange-looking forms already settled inside.
“... Hello?”

A crash which never came was predicted, while movement also served to show that someone was in this place. Twin forked tongues tasted the air to tell. Feline, a familiar sent to the conjoined twins who had long lived side by side with cats and canines. Almost on their tail, a gust of wind entered, bringing more rain and a canine scent. There now were at least five, if the conjoined twins counted as two. One voice called hello, and nearly splashed the snake and the child with frigid water droplets. The snake didn't respond, but the fluffy child yipped and ran away from the door, not waiting to find out who or what had been the cause. The twins didn't blame her for being skittish. Strangers were one of the many difficult situations to manage when the child was around. It was best to let her hide under the couch, or whichever place she found, for a little while before trying to break the ice.
Just because they would not bother introducing child to the mammals did not mean the snake would be so inhospitable. One of the mammals had said hello already. the other probably could see them already. Though the snake had two heads, only one voice spoke. Though snakes were known for hissing, the tone of voice had none of that, being more of an intellectual masculine purr. "Hello, I suppose. Though I do not wish to be rude, I must insist on seeing if there is anything here from which to build a fire. Certainly it would serve to banish any lingering chill from the rain." Of course introductions would be proper and lovely, but for the snake, warmth was needed more. These old buildings were prone to have a fireplace of some sort, and there had to be something dry they could burn. Hopefully the other animals were not afraid of such a thing, for it could provide heat and light.

Taige heard voices near the entrance of the building. Making his way closer to the door, the scents became stronger, and so did the scent of rain. Once he reached the front door area, Taige hopped up somewhere high. Might as well have height advantage for this. Looking down, he saw a two headed snake at least was here. He heard their question about heat and shrugged. "I'm sure there's stuff we can burn in here if need be." He said.

"I'm sure you'll find it better, than having wet reptile wrapped around, the driest, warmest Mammal in the room." The snake mentioned, in a tone akin to telling a joke. Not all creatures feared snakes, but the potential for them to be venomous tended to be enough for animals who had a healthy knowledge of replies to usually prefer keeping some distance. Perhaps the comment would even convince Taige to help in finding things to burn, but the twin who had spoken could not bet on such. Stretching their wings, the twins indicated that they at least would be beginning a firewood search about the room. Already they saw one burnable thing, though some larger being might need to break the lamp table they'd spotted thanks to Taige into burnable bits.

"As tempting as it is to do that to keep myself warm as well, I think I'll pass. I would rather keep my spine how it is." Taige said, joking back at the snake as he hopped down from where he was at. "I know I saw some broken pieces of wood in a room, as well as what looked like pieces of paper with paint on them." He said, not knowing what a painting was.

Dripping wet at the entrance to the building, her hello had not gone unanswered. After the scurrying of another being into the depths of the structure caused her to jump slightly in surprise, she turned to face the remaining shadowed form, reluctant to step further in despite how the rain battered her hind quarters.
The strange creature, which appeared to be a serpent, spoke in an oddly smooth voice, returning her 'hello' before going on about building a fire. Auru knew not how to do so, her ears pulling back in embarrassment as if she should be ashamed for not learning such a skill. However, when she went to open her maw to tell the serpent the unfortunate news, she found it instead slacken in disbelief. "You... You have two heads..." She stated, pointing out the obvious. She wasn't intending to be rude herself, but she had up to this point not seen such a creature. The addition of what appeared to be wings connected to the long-bodied reptile only served to stun the she-wolf further, although she seemed to forget just how odd she looked herself.
Her own pair pressed tightly against her soaked sides now, a startled growl rising in her throat as a new, dry scent touched her nose followed by the soft 'thunk' of something dropping to the floor. This third being took the shape of a feline, and he quickly struck up a conversation with the snake regarding the need for a fire. Auru suddenly felt rather out of place among these smaller animals. Seeing as she was not perceived as a threat nor in any danger herself from what was inside the room, she stepped fully into it and stood awkwardly shifting from paw to paw.
Suddenly, she remembered the other creature that had run when she entered, wondering if it was a companion of the snake of feline or if they all just happened to be here by chance. "Um... Excuse me. You... two," She shyly interrupted, clearing her throat to get their attention. "Did you happen to see where the other one that was in here went? Did I scare them?"

Two heads, indeed."A rare but natural mutation." The twins were quite used to being a bit odd compared to other creatures around. It didn't bother them.
as for the subject of fire, the snake knew how to make it work. "wood, paper, fabric, any of those will do." Once the flammables were found it would be easy to get the flames started. Again the snake was intent on the Lamp table. "Miss wolf, would you mind helping break the legs off of this?" The snake requested. They would burn well, and far longer than anything paper might.
"The child is hiding under that chair." The snake pointed their tail to indicate the large plush shape in the shadows. "We can try to coax her out after the fire's started." The snake wasn't strong enough to move some of the pieces, but they found an old book, from which they began taking pages for use in starting the flames. They also located the old fireplace. By the time larger burnable bits were found, they would be ready to start a fire this way.

Taige had run off to where he found some wood and paper to use for this. He collected what he could into a sheet that he could drag along with him. It was pretty full of wood, paper, and books they could use. He did struggle to bring it back, but he was able to. "Here's what I found." He said. Taige then saw the new face. "Hello. Who are you?" He asked.

This was sufficient to start with. With a practiced grip, where both of the two heads on the snake acted together to simulate the functionality of hands, they struck stones together in the darkness, initiating a spark. This they fed first with paper, and later with scrap wood.
Gradually the soft red glow of flames illuminated the room, making the three visible figures easier to see. The small child was still hiding, but finally the snake could be clearly seen. They were an earthy green brown, with darker 'x's' lined with white upon their back. The heads were nearly identifal with the biggest difference being simply facial expression. They wore a very odd necklace above the shoulders which signified the beginning of their wings. It had beads on it, and a small metal plate with foreign writing etched into the metal, and a small stained pouch, which held a few supplied including the flint they had used to strike up the flames. Their wings, which were an unnatural mutation were the same color as their scales, but the membranes were greenish in hue.
The twins shifted to curl near the fire, in part keeping tabs on its condition, but mostly to gain much needed warmth. "Now, I think we can answer the question of whos." The same purring voice spoke, and it was finally clear which of the nearly identical heads had been conducting the conversation. "The child, who's eyes you can see reflecting the fire light from under the chair is called Shiren. I'm called Sevaan, and my sister Ahwi." The snake gave their given names. "We've been traveling together for a while."

Taige didn't butt in when it came to making the fire because his paws weren't the best with fire. That and the snake seemed to be fine with this. When the fire did light up, he was able to see about the same as before, but now things had a bit more color to them. "I see. Well, it's nice to meet you two. As for me, my name is Taige. I've sort of been just wandering around this land my myself for a while." He said.

Auru snapped out of her shocked stupor, tilting her head instead as the snake briefly addressed her before turning its attention to creating a fire. How it knew how to do so was beyond Auru, but she followed the snake’s directions still, nodding to confirm she head, and walking up to the small piece of furniture. Rearing up on her back legs, she sat on them rather uncomfortably, pausing her action to attempt to break apart the table and looking over at the tall feline who was much quicker than she with gathering materials for the snake’s fire summoning. “Uh… My name is Auru. What’s your name?” She responded politely, although her ears tilted off to the side in slight discomfort, unfamiliar with this causal conversation between such a varied group of strangers.
She was aware of the presence in the room not too far from her, the feeling of eyes boring through her fur causing her ears to pull back further. She did not wish to scare the being that lurked in the shadows further, but she couldn’t help the loud cracking as the rotting, unstable furniture broke beneath her weight as she threw herself at it.
Shoulder and bit sore from the impact but otherwise unharmed, she pushed the smaller pieces of the broken table towards the snake. However, the sharp ‘clack’ of stones striking each other caused her to yelp sharply and leap back a couple steps, her fur instinctively rising on her neck and her wings spreading as if in anticipation of taking off. She only settled when she noticed the snake was creating flames from the sparks created by stones, her wings pulling back closely against her sides.
Nosing the pile she created towards the now steadily glowing fire, Auru shook herself out to release the tension in her muscles and sat down, smiling softly as the twins and the cat introduced themselves. “It is a pleasure to meet you, as well. I apologize for scaring Shiren earlier… Is there perhaps a way to coax them out now?” The little creature, whatever it was, didn’t seem to be dangerous, and neither did its company… She would like to make amends for unintentionally upsetting the poor thing by barging in.

The snake shifted sightly beside the fire, sensing that the canine was a bit uncomfortable by various means. The twins had been trained to observe the world around them intently. Even when they might seem to be paying no attention to the things around them, very little was missed.
"we apologize for frightening you as well Auru." the snake purred in a soothing tone of voice, which might come off as creepy instead Same on us to forget the sound of flint as frightening." They should take care. The whole culture from which the snake came was often frightening and potentially enigmatic to outsiders such as Taige and Auru. This might even hold true for Shiren's background, as different as it was for the twins' own.
"Come dry your fur?" The snake offered to both of the mammals. The fire was odd for those who may have come from the more feral backgrounds, but it was safe under the twins' care, and not an object to fear. The twins would make an effort to make the stay in this shelter comfortable until the storm might let up and all could go their own ways. Who knew how long that would be.
"The child, is often coaxed by food, particularly fruit, though strangely blood can sometimes do." That statement too might be on the creepy side. Naturally shiren's species were frugivores, favoring fruit over other kinds of foods. Shiren had been an odd one since the day the twins had found her.
Unknown to the others, once the fire had been lit, the twins, particularly Sevaan, had reached towards the child mentally, trying to convince her to come out by the communication link they had established with the child. It wasn't working very well. That said food was a good idea. The question was, was there anything edible here? perhaps there were bugs, or mice, or bats, or other things that came into abandoned homes for shelter which were less fortunate beasts. finding something good for Shiren would, of course be hard unless the long gone humans had left anything that had not ended up rotting away.

Taige observed as the fire got started and looked up when he heard a name. He looked to the other mammal. "So, your name's Auru? Might as well say my name now: It's Taige. I don't remember if I said that earlier, but a refresher never hurt." He said. He then got interested when they talked about a child and food. "You need to find food? I heard some skittering below the floorboards here earlier. Maybe whatever's down there can be used to lure the child out?" He asked. He hadn't been paying attention to the conversation until now, but he felt like he could help out.
