The Synthetic had flown to.. Somewhere..
Where am I?
It had never ventured out this far. But then again, it had never been out at all before. It opened it's mouth and let out a series of clicks. It's antennae whirred around as the creature sensed everything around it.
What is this place?
It landed with a clunk, and hopped up. What was this.. The creature scanned it. ...Grass? It eased itself down onto the grass, before rolling over, and then getting back up. This stuff wasn't half bad.. It was... Soft. What was soft? It scanned it's database. Soft was... Comfortable. That meant.. Pleasant. That meant good. So, soft was good? That seemed reasonable..
Then it pricked it's metal ears. It needed to keep watch for any humans. Human = Bad.

The outdoors was nice and the weather too pleasant to resist.
The new member of eden still had much to do before he felt at home in this place. Right now it was a matter of learning as much as he could about the way eden operated, and its relationship to sanctuary, and his role here now.
A tablet he'd been lent was the tool of study, though he certainly preferred a nice hardcover book.
He'd found a nice place to read on a bench by the grass.
But something came and interrupted.
The 'human' stood up immediately, recognizing what sort of thing it was was quickly from his time in sanctuary.
He could remember times when he'd come a hair's breath from being caught by artificial beings such as these, different types than this one of course, but similar enough that he could connect the dots.
Were there more? Was it an invasion? Had the enforcers of sanctuary somehow discovered this shelter for supernaturals within their midst?
The dark skinned young man was braced to fight it off. It might be acting kind of like an ordinary dog at the moment, but this kind of technology was the sort which was meant to bring down people like him.
People who might not be as human as they looked, or who might not look human at all.
He did look human though, odd genetics aside. Out if habit from living in sanctuary proper for so long, he had yet to relax enough to manifest as anything other, especially while in a public place such as this.
Yet these sorts of artificial beings often had some kind of sensor, some way to tell if someone was human or not, even if by all outside appearances a person seemed normal.
They could detect "magic" or "unusual energy" or "auras" or something, or even just tell when a person was not quite right at the cellular level.
He decided.
If it was a threat, if it attacked he would fight it first and ask questions later.
Unless some other eden person who'd been here longer had a better idea of what to do when encountering such things, and was close by enough to tell him.
Or unless the creature did something that didn't make sense based on the 'programmed' behavior he had seen before.

The Synthetic's ears picked up a faint noise.
What was that?
It sensed magic. Coming from.. There! It was.. human..? The Synthetic shrunk down, it's metal ears clicking to it's head. Were they here to take it back? No.. Impossible! It - no, he - was magical. None of the humans were magical. The Synthetic cautiously took steps forward.
Don't take the bait.
The 'human' was a trick. They were trying to trick it.
They think I'm stupid. Fools.
The Synthetic was in a crouching position, eyes narrowed and watching for any sudden moves. The 'human' didn't seem to have anything suitable to capture a Synthetic with.. His clothes looked easy enough for a flailing Synthetic's claws to rip.
Maybe he wasn't going to capture it?

This wasn't an enforcer.
He wasn't dressed like one. He wasn't geared up like one. He wasn't trained like one.
Before many things happened Malik had just been a normal kid trying to get by in the big city.
Part of him missed those days.
If not for the deep well of not magic, but still supernatural energy she'd picked up on, He wouldn't even have been here now.
It was going to pounce on him wasn't it? That's what it looked like.
He stepped forward swiftly, attempting to pin the artificial creature by the neck to the ground, in an attempt to stay a perceived attack before it came.
The speed and force of the action was definitely faster than any normal human would have been capable of, though maybe a professional athlete could have come close.

The Synthetic was suddenly pinned down by the neck. It made a metallic noise in surprise. It's tail beat the ground as it's limbs flailed and it tried to get up. Eventually it gave up, the limbs that were previously flailing still now. It looked up at the 'human' with a frightened and surprised look in it's eyes. How would it communicate this...
Oh! Don't all humans speak that one language? Uh, what was it called.. 'Eenish,' right?
I need to speak that.
It was a moment before it opened it's jaws and said, "I caught, guess. Take back me."
That was.. Terrible.

For a creature made to hunt the likes of him, the reaction was surprisingly slow. Malik had partially expected that he'd miss and get clawed or bitten in the process.
Instead he was pleased to find he'd caught it quickly, and that holding it down didn't require much in the way of 'extra' supernatural strength to hold.
A slight expression of surprise passed over the boy's face as it spoke, broken English but still recognizable words, yet he didn't lessen his guard enough to lessen his grip.
It took a moment of thought to guess what it was trying to say.
"Back where?" The demi-human asked roughly. He generally knew the answer, sanctuary, probably some lab or research facility, or maybe the enforcers had kennels for these things. "To where You'd call reenforcement and ambush me, if you haven't called some here already?" No way he was letting something like this get back to sanctuary unless there was a way to wipe it's memory. He was more tempted to crush it. Based on the feel of the metal, he'd probably be able to if he let his supernatural energy effect his strength more than it currently was.
But there was something about the artificial being that made him hesitate to take such a step.

The attacker seemed to be slightly surprised at the Synthetic's words.
I wonder why.
"No." The pinned down Synthetic said. "I alone. I escape evil humans."
It then made a small, cautious effort to escape, partly to test the 'human'. Though, now it was obvious that the 'human' wasn't even human.
Well, Synthetics were made of lightweight metals, so it wouldn't be that hard to pin one down.. But to prevent one from escaping your hold? That took some real strength and skill.
"You not human, yes?"

Evil humans it said.
Malik increased the pressure he had holding it down. It spoke this way about the race he'd associated himself with for most of his life.
Whether it meant the humans that were evil, or the humans were all evil, he didn't care.
his grip tightened, both with it's squirming, and his frustration at its words. the metal might actually give a little bit, further confirming that he wasn't human, since no human could cause such effect with his bare hands.
Yet he saw himself as human in enough ways that a blanket insult like the way it's words had come off as certainly felt like a verbal attack towards himself, or if not him the nonmagical people he'd been forced to leave behind.
"I am human. Don't talk about us that way." He warned firmly.
It didn't matter if there were actually evil humans out there or not. She'd definitely hit a nerve.

The Synthetic let out a, "Cck!" in surprise, as it's attacker, the 'human', increased the pressure on it's neck.
"Help! Stop!"
It flailed again, now. It need to escape before- There was the sound of metal breaking, and the Synthetic's stare went to the 'human'.
"Can't be human! Human can't break metal! Not lone!"
I need to escape!
The Synthetic then got a thought. It attempted to wrap it's tail around the attacker's arm. The sharp edges of the tail should cut him.

The distress sounded more human than Malik would have expected. That threw him slightly off guard.
Despite the impressive strength, the flesh cut as easily as any other non-magical being.
Because of the pain, of what for many others would have been a severe wound, he was forced to release the artificial being completely.
He held his arm for a moment. The cut on his arm looked nasty, but it was already mending, light dancing in the wound, healing the damage at a pace fast enough to be seen by the naked eye.
She was right. A human shouldn't be able to bend metal like that with bare hands. A human shouldn't be able to heal from wounds this quickly.
But that didn't mean he wasn't human. "I'm both." He admitted, tempted but not yet taking action to give pursuit.
That answer made the most sense.

The Synthetic was released, and it felt it's broken neck-plate with a metal paw. ..At least he didn't break all the way through it's neck.
After a moment, Delta looked up.
"Both?"
Hmm.
Dull confusion flooded the Synthetic's glowing blue eyes for a second. That was odd. It also seemed impossible. But maybe some magical creatures, supernaturals, for example, were human-like? Now that made more sense.

It didn't run far, and it didn't seem to be pressing an attack. That was odd.
It was also odd that he was talking with a 'robot' made by a group which made itself the enemy of all supernaturals, and that he'd let it fly so far.
Sanctuary doctrine and programming taught that all supernatural beings were the same, things to be rid of, no matter how human they might actually be.
No surprise if something artificial couldn't understand how someone could be both.
Surprising that she seemed to be treating him as an individual in some sense, even though he was one of those intended targets.
Identity, wasn't fully tied to physical features, nor abilities, nor even way of thought was it.
Maybe there was a parallel somewhere.
"you were made to be My enemy. What do you think?" he pointed out, Mild sarcasm in his tone, though he didn't really mean it that way. It was more there because he was still on edge about this robot. A 'disposable'(from sanctuary's view probably) robot attacker with the 'wrong' programming, might actually get it if it thought about it's own state of being. Sword-Lily
