"perhaps so." Ishiki agreed, "such precious misplaced years" although there was much he knew he could also recall. "say, the light in the city, hides the night, would you accompany me up to the hill." it was a mere suggestion and offer. Ishiki could be understanding of refusal, but Ishiki thought it might be a nice place to go, especially if there were fears that kept one up at night.

Jasper nodded. "Of course," he said. The night was dark, and it would still be many hours until the sun rose. Not to mention it would be lighter up on the hill. It could...help clear the residue of his dream.

Ishiki knew the way well, down this road, turning off on a smaller one. Jasper might be surprised when he saw that Ishiki actually held the keys to a side gate, not one of the primary ones used by the city traffic, but one which lead outside all the same. Until one got used to the absence of the city lights, it would look very dark all around, but a little bit further and a brilliant star filled sky would be revealed.

Jasper followed Ishiki, his pupils instinctively widening, trying to gather more light to create a visual image. They didn't need to do that, though. He could rely on his other senses. He would follow the sound of Ishiki's footfalls until the stars became visible. Then, he'd pause and stare upwards.

Iit was beautiful yes, but if ishiki was pale before he soon became paler, whiter than porcelain, his dark eyes wide. he stood still, but shook slightly. "my stars, something's blotting them out before their time." he spoke in quiet horror, and shock. of course clouds could hide stars, but this was something different, something very different, a bad omen, of something worse to come perhaps. it was hard to see where the stars were missing at a glance, but Ishiki seemed to be focused on a space between too well known Eokian constellations.

Jasper immediately tensed at Ishiki's comment. He tried to see if any of the stars he knew were missing, but to no avail. He could only trust the other's knowledge of astrology. "What could...?" Jasper began, but trailed off. He didn't like the implications of that question.

"A bad omen." the seemingly ageless man said firmly. "something that could threaten our world or beyond. "Ishiki was quick to turn and head back towards the city. He could not abdress the issue from here, but he could find out more about it if he actually looked at the stars from another place.

Intrigued and slightly disturbed, Jasper would follow Ishiki towards the city, eyes wide and worried. A bad omen... Why was he not suprised?

Few would normally ever be invited to the place where ishiki lead, through the city to the richest, non-residential area, into a building, and up a series of many hallways and staircases. The way was lit by flameless lamps which where set into the walls and ceiling at regular intervals. The length of the ascent would be the most grueling part, with many stories and no lift. Occasionally Ishiki had to open a door to keep climbing. Fortunately he had keys to them all.

Jasper trailed behind Ishiki, nervously glancing left and right. He didn't let the climb bother him, only stayed silent, although he was brimming with questions, like who are you, how could you tell that the stars were going out, where are we going, and why do you have every key?

Near the top was a large dark room with only one entrance. There was a large contraption in the room and the space was missing part of the ceiling and so opened into the night air. the night sky offered some illumination to the room. it was rather cluttered with books, and it was clear that the contraption was a sort of large telescope like device. one could call it a telescope except for that it seemed to have a bunch of additional mysterious parts attached to it. Ishiki places some kind of stone in the alcove which normally would act as an eye piece in a standard telescope. Ishiki adjusted some lenses and the room lit up with stars and planets. The points just sat out in the space of the room like fireflies, or sparks, rather than merely showing on the walls like normal points of light might all the stars moved a little in a sort of slow constant motion around a central point. It was breathtaking, as if the galaxies had somehow become tiny and contained in this single room. It was fake, but it accurately portrayed the sky. By waving his hand, Ishik brought certain areas into easy view, and indeed there was a spot, where it seemed like stars belonged but there was none.
