SOL INVICTUS 「THE UNCONQUERED SUN」
GENERAL INFORMATION AGE ~4 Billion GENDER Male (Sexless) SPECIES Star / Cosmic Being HEIGHT Variable; 250 cm to 300 cm normally WEIGHT Variable; 205 kg to 530 kg normally SEXUALITY Asexual AFFILIATION None ALIGNMENT True Neutral FACE Pyron (Darkstalkers / Vampire)
PERSONALITY Despite an intimidating and borderline demonic appearance, Sol has a placid temperament. He's always been removed from others' affairs, despite his innate curiosity. He has so little in common with other beings that he finds it hard to truly connect with them beyond an emotional level. It's difficult for him to forge any sort of ties with others, but on the off chance there's someone or something he cares about, he'll defend it, regardless of whether or not it's rational to do so. While he normally has an excellent amount of self-control, pushing him over the edge can cause him to become frenzied.
In conversation, he comes as aloof, and perhaps a bit shy. He likes to be alone for long periods of time and doesn't always enjoy conversation. While he's not entirely quiet, everything around him is unfamiliar and alien, and this can be disorienting and overwhelming. He has a deep-seated sense of paranoia. His past experiences have led him to assume the worst of others' intentions if he can't discern them outright. Getting him to trust anyone takes time and is quite a feat to accomplish. It's not unusual for him to lash out at others from misunderstandings.
Though he was once worshiped in the past, Sol is, for the most part, humble. He doesn't think highly of himself, but he does have a firm understanding of his nature and knows why others have thought of him as a god in the past. It's because of his background that he often feels insecure with respect to his current limitations. Everything about the form he's trapped in feels wrong to him, and he hates being so small, even though he's still a head or two taller than most people. BACKGROUND The precise details of how Sol Invictus came to be are an enigma, even to him. As his sense of time is subjective, it's not clear to him how long ago he achieved sentience, let alone how or even why. All he knows is that his earliest memories are of floating in the cosmic void we call outer space, as planets orbited him and he slowly circled the galactic core.
One day, life began to form on one of the rocky planets caught in his gravity. Though it took billions of years for a sentient species to evolve, he watched and waited, not knowing what to expect. Some of the ones that finally took root formed a sun cult, as many species do -- a behavior he thought was both curious and flattering. They personified their solar deity in their arts, believing that the sun was a person in its way. Unlike many people, they weren't wrong.
A disconnect formed the more elaborate the "sun god" myth became. Eventually, it evolved from simply praising the sun to having an anthropomorphic personification associated with it, and with that personification came traits that didn't represent him. The cult split, divided on what their crafted deity should be, and none of them matched what the entity truly was. Longing only to give his side of the story, Sol learned to telepathically communicate with the people of his world, and a connection formed between the people, their oracles, and their sun god.
The millennia that followed were curious. As more information came to light about Sol, the veil of mysticism slowly lifted. He professed that he had no desire to be worshiped or seen as a god -- he was merely an observer and a sustainer of life. Only the former behavior stopped, for what else could someone perceive him to be? The situation eventually settled into peaceable coexistence, with Sol seeing himself as a guardian and protector to the people on the planet -- on his planet.
He often wished that he could walk among them, to see things from their level, but the thought remained just that. To shrink down to their size would mean abandoning his status as their star, dooming the planet to a winter beyond winters. The opportunity to do so eventually did present itself, but given the circumstances, he wishes it hadn't.
A darkness washed over Sol's planet, spreading from person to person like a virus. Every mind touched by it was subsumed and their wills were lost, replaced by a consciousness that called itself Magog. Sol himself was powerless to assist, lest he leave the planet without a star, and had no choice but to watch and wait.
When it became clear that the planet's inhabitants could not save themselves, Sol took it upon himself to at least put them out of their misery. He shrunk himself down to little larger than a man and "cleansed" the then dark planet with bursts of plasma and a heavy heart. Though many of the corrupt inhabitants fell to him, they had strength in numbers and a mysterious powers granted to them by their corrupter. One of the most powerful of them, and one of the earliest to inflicted by the plague, put a curse on Sol, sapping his strength and preventing him from returning to his natural size and state.
The change of circumstances shifted the playing field in the hive mind's favor, and Sol found himself struggling against the brainwashed masses. Rather than throw away his life fighting against impossible odds, he fled, eventually leaving the plane of existence for realms unknown.
Though many millennia have passed since the event, it feels like a relatively minuscule amount of time to him. Knowing that the beings he once protected can't be saved, he wants nothing more complicated than revenge -- and to break the curse inflicted upon him. APPEARANCE Sol's current appearance is a far cry from his natural state. He was originally an orange dwarf, a small, cool type of star. The humanoid form he uses and is stuck in is modeled after depictions of a solar deity worshiped on a planet that used to orbit him. Though once a being of astronomical proportions, the curse placed on him locks him into a much smaller form. The form he usually takes has a humanoid appearance. It looks vaguely like a mannequin made of and often wreathed in fire. Though his face is missing normal assets -- like a nose, mouth, and eyes with any sort of details -- two horns jut out from his head at a near horizontal angle, with points that stick up at the ends. His form can change subconsciously and often serves as a visual representation of his emotional state. As a general rule of thumb, he's smaller when in a depressed, uncomfortable, and otherwise negative mood, while rage and conviction make him larger and bulkier. His body sometimes "stretches" while particularly relaxed. His size and shape can also be controlled consciously, allowing him to shrink himself to the point of deforming into an inhuman shape and become much large. Despite looking like he's "on fire", Sol is not. His body is composed of plasma, mostly hydrogen and helium. While this would normally make him too hot to touch, his body is encased in a specialized aura that prevents him from harming others on contact and allows him to behave as if he's solid. His body feels like warm silk to the touch and he can manipulate this aura to change his appearance. He can't change his actual makeup, and will always appear with the same flaming aesthetic. ABILITIES - Aura: Sol's body is surrounded by a powerful, modified electromagnetic field that allows him to maintain a humanoid size and shape and prevents him from burning whatever he comes into contact with. The aura serves as a sort of malleable exoskeleton -- damaging it injures him, and piercing it in particular causes him to "bleed" plasma, draining his strength. He can temporarily thin it to burn someone making contact with him, but doing so leaves him more vulnerable to injury.
- Conductivity: Because it's made of plasma, Sol's body essentially acts a powerful lightning rod, drawing in electricity in his vicinity and absorbing it to boost his "metabolism".
- Cosmic Awareness: Sol doesn't perceive reality through natural, physical senses -- he has an innate connection to the universe that feeds him information about his surroundings as if there were no obstructions. This awareness operates in a radius around him, diminishing the further away something he senses is.
- Cursed: Sol's power is barely a fraction of what it is naturally due to a curse placed on him by one of Magog's thralls. He can't physically return to his natural size and shape and attempting to do so can cause pain.
- Gravitikinesis: Sol has control over gravity in his immediate surroundings. He can increase, decrease, and even reverse it acutely, allowing it act as both a pressing force and a form of makeshift telekinesis and levitation. The magnitude decreases the further away from a target he is.
- Immunities: Sol's unconventional physiology grants him immunity to diseases and toxins. He also has no need to eat, drink, sleep, or breathe, though his stamina isn't inexhaustible and he has to rest after exerting himself. His nature also renders him highly resistant to temperature extremes, both hot and cold.
- Longevity: Though not truly immortal, Sol has lived for an exceptionally long time and has a lifespan that will last many times his current age.
- Planeswalking: Sol can pass through the invisible boundaries that separate various planes of existence with ease.
- Shapeshifting: Sol can change his physical form into nearly any shape he desires, but with an important stipulation: he can't change his physical makeup, giving him the same "fiery" appearance no matter what shape he takes. He can also change sizes in addition to shape, and can make himself small enough to fit into someone's pocket or large enough to hold a human in hi s hand with little effort, and can even do so subconsciously. However, the curse placed upon him makes it stressful -- and even painful -- to make himself significantly larger, the strain increasing proportionally.
- Strength: Sol has significantly more physical strength and resilience than normal human beings.
- Telepathy: As he lacks a way to communicate verbally, Sol can project messages into others' minds to "speak", though he can't hear others' thoughts.
- Thermokinesis: Sol both passively generates and controls heat. He needs little more than a thought to heat objects or his surroundings, sometimes to the point of ignition. High temperatures, naturally, have no effect on him and he can absorb heat to fuel himself.
TECHNICAL NOTES Some extraneous, long-winded information for clarification about Sol, partially for my own reference, but also to clarify some things. Click the headers to display the information. {AGING} Sol actually does age, it just happens very, very slowly. He's an orange dwarf, a relatively small, dim type of star that burns through its fuel at a snail's pace, even compared to other stars. If given the absurd length of time required, he'd eventually undergo the same life cycle that all stars do. Changing stellar phases wouldn't kill or injure him and -- provide nothing happens in the meantime to kill him -- he could easily live into his trillions as a white dwarf. {AURA} The aura around Sol's body is his magnetic field, altered to contain him in a particular size and shape and serves as a sort of exoskeleton that's resistant to concussive injury. When touched, it feels like a solid object and touching things with it (or touching things that make it past it) serves as his only real sense outside of his cosmic awareness.
The aura is a bit like a muscle that he can expand and contract at will, so "stretching out" for him means making himself larger. But the more it's stretched, the more it's stressed, and "pushing" it too far outward can cause strain, pain, and can even tear the aura, leaving a large hole in beyond what most most physical injuries can do. While damage to the aura heals over time, leaving his innards exposed to air is potentially lethal because of heat convection cooling him. He's tried doing this before not long after being cursed when trying to return to his normal proportions, but mercifully only in the vacuum of space, where there's no air to transfer heat.
The pain and tearing he can experience only happens because of his curse, one of the effects of which is to keep him small (relatively speaking), and the wouldn't exist at all without it. It's also worth a footnote that the aura is a natural part of him, just altered by the curse. If he weren't cursed, his aura would never thin out and he'd still be able to maintain control his shape at astronomical sizes. {COMMUNICATION} When Sol transmits thoughts telepathically, there's essentially an automatic translation of abstract thought into words the recipient can understand. His cosmic awareness grants him the same level of understanding when it comes to other languages. He can't actually confuse two words that sound similar because of this, only the meaning. On a technical level, he doesn't actually know any language in terms of what sounds mean what other the language his own people spoke. {PERCEPTION} Sol effectively only has three senses -- touch, pain, and cosmic awareness. The aura that surrounds him allows him to perceive things through a sense of touch. When something collides with the aura, it registers the same way as the sense would in anything else. His understanding of pain, though, is disembodied, and is something he can feel without even needing the aura around him. For instance, if an object became embedded in his body, he wouldn't be able to feel it through his sense of touch, but would feel pain or discomfort regardless.
His cosmic awareness is a curious trait that's perhaps best understood as a localized omniscience -- he can sense everything in his immediate surroundings, but that sense becomes "duller" the further away he is from something. It's a feeling as much as it is knowing, and sensations sometimes accompany the information that streams in. It should also be noted that just because he's sensing something doesn't mean he's paying attention to it -- things can be within range of his cosmic awareness, but still escape detection by him if he's not focusing on it. {PHYSIOLOGY} On the inside, Sol has more or less the same anatomy as an actual star, with his core located in the center of his chest. The further a part of him is from that core, the cooler it will be, but even the outermost layers are extremely hot -- he still has the same body temperatures he would at his natural size. Most materials melt or vaporize if they make it past his aura, depending on how far it penetrates.
While his aura is a modified magnetic field, there's nothing truly analogous to it in nature. It's a force rather than an object, but a force so strong that it effectively behaves as one. The aura prevents most heat from escaping his body and compresses him so that he doesn't have a corona. The aura is invisible to the eye and unevenly distributed on a microscopic level. While resistant to concussive force, it's vulnerable to piercing. {POISON} An object that manages to get lodged inside of Sol's aura -- for instance, part of a weapon that pierced him, melted off, and stayed inside after the wound healed -- acts like a poison to him. His body normally tries to fuse whatever material is inside of him, and fusion becomes more difficult the heavier the element is (and therefore, heavier elements that get stuck in him are more effective poisons), effectively slowing down his metabolism and making him lethargic, even potentially incapacitating him. He can simply reach inside himself and rip out solid objects, but anything that melts, vaporizes, or ionizes can't be grabbed in the first place. His body naturally purges itself of foreign materials over time, but he can be killed if too much of something else gets stuck inside of him. While recovering, he usually makes himself as large as comfortably possible to increase the amount of easily-fusible material compared to the poison and dampen its effects. {POWERS} Sol doesn't think about his powers much. From his point of view, they don't feel "special" and come as naturally as moving and breathing, so he doesn't bother to question them or how they "work". While not "scientific" in nature, they also aren't exactly magical, straddling the line between the two. {SHAPE} The shape Sol is usually in is humanoid, with a pair of long horns, meant to mimic artistic anthropomorphization of him. His people had a similar body plan and part of the reason he remains in the shape is an odd tribute to them. It's important to note that his body parts just look like human anatomy -- what seems like the outline of muscle is really just a "mold" his plasma fills, and his limbs tend to curve and stretch rather than bend at the angles at they're supposed to. {SIZE} Sol changes size and shape in a subconscious, reflexive manner. His body is fluid, and the expansion and contraction are just aspects of the way he moves, like how humans tend to swing their arms from side to side when walking even though it's not necessary. He doesn't have a "static" typical height because of this, but usually ranges anywhere from 250 cm to 300 cm (8' 2" to 9' 10"). For reference, at the biggest he can comfortably be, large houses hardly reach up to his waist, and he can make himself a pinch taller than a skyscraper at the risk of his aura tearing.
It's also worth a small note that, despite mostly being made of hydrogen and helium, it's just as densely packed as it would be in an actual sun. He doesn't weigh next to nothing -- he's actually heavier than a human with the same dimensions would be, though not by a wide margin. His size and power don't scale outside of adding more weight, and thus force, to physical blows -- the way it "stretches" his aura actually makes him slightly more vulnerable to attacks because the "wall" around him is spread thinner. {TIME} Sol's perception of time is skewed because of his age and nature. It's not accurate to say that everything scales to his age either. A year is still a year to him mentally, not less than a second -- it just doesn't seem long to him and he could wait a year as easily as someone could twiddle their thumbs for a minute. Since being cursed, things have started to feel like they take more time because he's forced to operate on the timescale most other beings have when interacting with them. {TOUCH} Sol likes touching things. Because he's been a celestial body for almost his entire existence, he's never actually felt things until recently, relatively speaking that is, so just the simple act of coming into physical contact with things is a miraculous novelty to him, like a blind man suddenly being able to see. Because of this, he has a particular fondness for water and rain, because they make him feel like he's being touched all over the place. Though he seems like the type to hate it in most other respects, he'd actually be very happy with someone touching him without the intent of harming him.

FUKAMI TSUKIKAGE 「WHITE DEATH」
GENERAL INFORMATION AGE Thirty-Two SEX Female SPECIES Human (Cyborg) HEIGHT 180 cm, 192 cm in Exomachina WEIGHT 378 kg (68 kg Naturally) SEXUALITY Heterosexual AFFILIATION HanatennoALIGNMENT Chaotic Neutral FACES Baiken ( Guilty Gear) & Hakumen ( BlazBlue) PERSONALITY Fukami might not be literally born to fight, but as long as anyone can remember, she's been aggressive. Though age has somewhat mellowed her and improved her focus and concentration, she's still the type of person who feels a need to be in motion as much and as often as possible. She lives for thrill and excitement, and finds most of what she wants in her occupation. She's much more reckless and thrill-seeking than one would expect one of the stereotypically calm and collected Tenno to be, but sticks with them on familiarity and perks more than a desire to uphold their way. Other Tenno can find her hard to work with because of that, and she does most of her work alone as a result.
Indeed, she lives much of her life alone, rarely given time to develop close, interpersonal relationships because of her tendency to bounce from place to place. There's a part of her that longs to just settle down in one spot, but for now, the call to adventure is much stronger. She fears age more than almost anything else, and already feels that it may be too late for her to live out a quiet life.
BACKGROUND Fukami is a woman born into high expectations. Her lineage has been a part of the Hatenno as far back as anyone can trace their history, and they take their allegiance to the group very seriously. Their fervor has led to many with the name "Tsukikage" to be known as Tenno, including Fukami's mother and father, Sozue and Kaguya respectively. They've long lived comfortable lives when not carrying out their their wealth amassing from the contracts of rich employers.
Fukami has always been her father's daughter, rarely getting along with her much more docile mother. Sozue took the fire inside of his girl and tamed it, tempering it with an outlet for her aggression and energy: combat. She took well to fighting, less for her skill and more for her spirit, though determination gradually turned into fluency. The vast majority of her formal training comes from her father, as well as some of the finest instructors Sanctuary has to offer.
Despite looking up to him, Fukami has always lived in her father's shadow. Her reckless disposition and inattentiveness have always limited her talents, and though she grew into a powerful warrior in her own right, her younger brother, Rinji, has always outmatched her skill, despite being born five years later.
When Fukami was nineteen, her mother was fatally wounded while on a mission with her father. Sozue saw fit that Fukami have Kaguya's armor, Exomachina: Amaterasu, after her death, and have it built into her own recently-installed Exospine after it could be properly repaired. Rinji resented his father's decision, believing that he was only giving her the heirloom because of favoritism, which was at least partially true.
Not long after, Fukami left her family behind, old and experienced enough to live on her own and wishing to carve out her own path. With separation came near poverty, as she hadn't yet made a name for herself outside of the one that already came with her family, but over time, she earned her own reputation in the shadows. For more than a decade, she's been doing mercenary work, usually for private contractors, but occasionally for Sanctuary's government and supplemented with odd bounty hunting.
Her line of business sometimes leads to her being called in to quickly dispatch supernatural threats. One encounter with such a beast nearly cost her her life, ambushing her before she could find it, ripping off one of her arms and gouging out one of her eyes. The injuries have done little to deter Fukami, though, and she's made modifications to her Exoarmor to more than compensate for the lack of a limb.
Though modestly wealthy, Fukami never stays in one place too long, typically bouncing from area to area, city to city to avoid detection.
APPEARANCE Fukami is a tall woman, standing at 180 cm (5' 11"), with a buxom physique. Her facial features are smooth, but her red red eye has a tempered ferocity in it. The other is glazed over and non-functional, usually shut. The wound that rendered it useless left a large scar on the eyelid and surrounding area, but she makes no attempt to hide it. Though not lacking in fat, she's noticeably muscular, though has otherwise average proportions. Her right arm is missing from the same encounter that rendered one of her eyes useless. She has long, pink hair, which is almost always drawn back into a ponytail. Though almost always hidden by her clothes, attached to her back is an Exospine, a mechanical extension of her natural spine that shows above her skin. She dresses for the occasion, usually wearing a black dress suit when she doesn't want to draw more attention to herself than necessary, but more often wears a loose kimono with a set of flat zōri on her feet, as she finds it more comfortable. In serious combat, her appearance changes drastically, as she dons a suit of armor that folds out from her Exospine called Exomachina: Amaterasu. Portions of it are electroplated with Aurichalcum, a rare, expensive, and magic-defying material, and what can't be made of it is made instead of a thick, black, carbon-based mesh that provides both flexibility and durability. Her hair sticks out the back of a visor that covers all or part of her face, depending on the need, and the armor distorts the color of her hair, changing it from pink to silver to disguise her. While wearing the armor, she can control a cybernetic right limb that unfolds into a powerful particle beam cannon called Murakumo. Both in and out of her armor, she usually carries around a large katana called Omamori, a Cursebreaker that's electroplated with the same material as Amaterasu. ABILITIES - Anti-Magic Barrier: Even without her Exomachina, Fukami is protected from magical assault by an anti-magic system built into her Exospine that effectively negates magic that targets her directly. Ironically, the barrier that surrounds her skin is much stronger than the one produced by her armor, but Amaterasu isn't protected by it.
- Cloaking: Like all Tenno, Fukami's exospine comes equipped with a cloaking device that jolts her body to increase her speed when activated. The same device is also built into Amaterasu, where it can be used to distort light beyond simply mimicking the background. While wearing Amaterasu, her hair appears white because of this.
- Enhancement: Fukami is significantly stronger and faster than a normal human being because of the augments provided by her Exospine, though no more durable than any other human being. While wearing Amaterasu, her strength increases significantly beyond even the Exospine augments.
- Shielding Barrier: An invisible barrier of energy surrounds Fukami's body, allowing it to take punishment beyond human limitations and preventing her from suffering damage from the forces she's put under while using Amaterasu. The barrier can be broken if struck hard enough, leaving her vulnerable.
- Sunburst: Amaterasu's visor can produce a powerful burst of light on command. While the attack doesn't directly harm people, it's bright enough to temporarily render someone's eyes useless.
EQUIPMENT - Exomachina: Amaterasu: Hypercompressed into Fukami's Exospine is a suit of cybernetic armor called Exomachina: Amaterasu. The armor is controlled entirely with mental commands -- nerve signals from Fukami's natural spine direct it. In addition to protecting her, it also increases her physical abilities far more than her Exospine alone would allow, giving her strength that would tear human muscle to shreds. The armored parts of it are electroplated with Aurichalcum, which reduce the effectiveness of magic on her while wearing it.
- Exospine: A cybernetic "second spine" that's been surgically attached to her natural one to enhance her physical abilities and grant her a few technological enhancements beyond that. Though the augment is standard among the Hatenno, Fukami has a specialized one that her Exomachina armor "unfolds" from when she activates it.
- Murakumo: Exomachina: Amaterasu's right arm has been altered into a fully cybernetic limb ever since Fukami lost her natural one. The arm itself conceals a weapon that it can transform into called Murakumo, a particle beam weapon fired like a cannon, with the end of the arm forming the barrel.
- Omamori: Fukami's sword, a Cursebreaker. The weapon is forged of powerful type of steel that's difficult to make, but has an edge that slices most materials as easily as a knife through butter. It's electroplated with Aurichalcum to give it anti-magic properties -- one swipe of Omamori can disable most physical manifestations of magic, and the weapon itself is more effective against supernatural creatures. It can even affect incorporeal ones.
TECHNICAL NOTES {HYPERCOMPRESSION} The Exospine that Fukami wears is larger than most because it attaches to more parts of her back, branching out almost like a second set of ribs. The "ribs" are actually where her armor, Exomachina: Amaterasu, is stored. While inactive, the molecules of the material are squeezed together to create an extremely dense substance that's still just as heavy as it would be at full size. This technology, called "hypercompression", is aided by the force that exerts the barrier shield that the Exospine creates passively, though compressing something in this way doesn't require constant energy output -- it's one and done. Because of this, Fukami weighs much more than she naturally should -- about 300 kg (661 lbs) -- and weighs more at the back than the front. Though the weight is distributed fairly evenly across most of her back's surface area, and she moves normally because of the strength provided by her Exospine, it still puts a lot of stress on her and she lacks the agility that one would expect from a Tenno until she actually uses her armor.
