Shika kicked a stone into the surface of a glass-smooth lake. the air was still, the water rippled for a moment and then also became still. it was kind of frustrating how quiet everything seemed to have become. Currently in her petite Humanoid form, the Yokai was itching for adventure, excitement, drama, or anything that wasn't so still. too bad it didn't seem right to make more ripples in this tranquil lake, nor to disrupt the heavy silence that kept the land under it's spell with no reason other than wanting to see something happen.

Sol Invictus had been watching the woman for some time. Not terribly long, but longer than most would have the patience for if they simply wished to speak with someone. He was biding his time, waiting for the right moment, as he was unsure how the being would react to him. When she started looking at the lake, though, he knew that was his moment. He walked calmly and almost silently to the water's edge, stopping behind the woman when his reflection was clearly visible in the water above her own, then waited for her to notice him.

With the perfect reflections available by the lake, of course shika noticed that someone was here. She turned to face the odd person, but didn't seem very impressed even though he was so strange. she was more focused on the fact that he had come so close so silently, and she was annoyed that she had not noticed him until he decided to let his sunny reflection show on the water's smooth surface. "my you were quiet, whatever you are. what do you want?" that was assuming he wanted something, which shika was guessing. someone probably would not approach if they didn't have anything they wanted.

"I seek the Tribe of Ancient Stones," the Sol answered. His voice was not a physical sound, but a mental projection. "I've heard tell of the group of vagrants and I wish to speak with them about a... predicament of mine. I was wondering if you could offer me information about their whereabouts." Though the they were known to wander, he'd heard tell and rumors while in this land that they could be found somewhere out in this part of the wilderness. However, his sense of direction was lacking to say the least.

Shika frowned, rather displeased with the mode of communication Sol had to use. "get the hell out of my head creep" even if that was the only way sol could talk shika didn't like the invasive nature of the mental projection. It felt potentially violating to her privacy. still it did contain a fair enough request that she might as well answer even though she had taken offense. "You're close," she huffed, her annoyance at this stranger still lacing her tone of voice. "though I don't see how we'll be any help to you regardless of your problems. You're not one of us so we don't care about you."

Sol felt confident that the being couldn't harm him, and he wanted to be courteous. He took a few steps back and shrunk so that he was closer to the woman's eye level instead of towering over her, though still a bit taller so as not make him feel uncomfortable.
"I apologize, but I have no other way of communicating. I am only projecting my thoughts, if it makes you feel more secure.
"I had heard tell that the group was typically accepting of outsiders like myself. I imagine that either I've heard wrong or that you're a selfish youth who projects her worldview onto others. If all of your Tribe are truly like this, though, then I will seek aid elsewhere."

Shika raised her eyebrows slightly as she saw Sol change shape, she would have liked to push him on that, see how big or how small he could get, but that could be a test for another time if it came to that.
Shika crossed her arms. "it doesn't put me at ease. I'm tempted to just block you out, but that's useless if you aren't lying to me." she didn't think that he was. Shika wouldn't try and harm him with anything other than words for now. she didn't know what could even harm a living ball of flames that was yet somehow not completely searing the world around it.
"We've had enough weirdos come in and try and rake us over that of course we're gonna be suspicious." shika justified. "we're accepting of people after they join. if you're not interested in the tribe for that, then there really is no reason to be nice to you." of course shika was partially projecting exactly as sol had observed, but she wasn't the only one who gave new members to her tribe a hard time at times. Shika personally would be blunt if not outright rude to just about anyone who couldn't earn her respect within the first meeting with them, whether they were members of the tribe or not. Sometimes she'd be grudgingly willing to help, like she might tell sol how to find the tribe if it suited her, but she was prone to treat anyone she was interacting with like trash until she saw a worthy reason to do otherwise.

Sol was keen to pick up on the comment the woman made about blocking him out. He knew that in these lands, it was difficult to tell humans from nonhumans and humans with strange abilities, and it seemed he was correct in his assumption that the woman wasn't "normal".
The plasma swirling inside of him rotated more vigorously in response to her aggression, a sign of irritation, but the rest of his demeanor did not change. "I see then," Sol said. He was still considering the notion that he was at least partially being lied to, but the justification also seemed valid. "Perhaps I would be inclined spend time communing with your transient tribe, were time not of the essence, but I do not have that luxury. I bid you farewell."
Indeed, if it had suited him, he may have tried joining the tribe. Inhuman or otherwise, the group could not possibly last long compared to him. Without so much as a second thought, he turned around and, now that there was no need to make himself seem less intimidating, returned to his prior size.

He turned to leave. shika could be happy about that but she wasn't really pleased. Though his words were far more formal than Shika's, he didn't seem very patient right now. It was annoying her in another way too, one which probably seem like shika was annoyed for no reason should she try to explain it. " Mou konai tte kimeta no?" shika asked "Korai no ishi no Zoku e? Konkai watashi ga asoko e tsurete iku yo." She turned a different direction and began following the curve along the lake's edge casually, not at all in any rush, just in case. "Ikitagaranakutte mo ii." and that could be the end of things. she could leave, he could leave, and if he wanted help he could find it elsewhere.
(have you already decided not to come? to the tribe of ancient stones. This time I'll take you there. if you don't want to go, that's fine too.)

"If speaking another language is your way of taunting me, I should let you know that I understand everything you say. The way you say something is not a barrier to me," Sol said. He was still turned around and didn't bother to face the woman, but could sense her movements regardless. He was not in the mood for games. "I am willing to follow you if you are actually offering to guide me. I would prefer to judge your Tribe separately from you."

"Sou omoeba chanto modorinasai." Shika replied in a blunt annoyed tone of voice. "chouba suru tsumori ja naikatta yo." She did intend to taunt him a bit. it was sort of in her nature to taunt anyone who'd not earned her admiration, and even some who had. however the intent to taunt had not been in the changing of languages. She continued walking around the lake for now, no upping her pace, or bothering to look at him for now, either he would take her offer, and come along, or not. She supposed she no longer cared one way or the other.
(if you think that, just go back. it wasn't my intent to taunt you.)

"Very well then," Sol answered. He still didn't trust the strange woman -- and he doubted he ever would, given the way she acted -- but a lead was a lead. As she walked on, Sol's perception of her became less and less clear until he decided to turn around and follow her. Rather than run, he leaned forward and made gravity warp around him to catch up with his guide.

Shika didn't care how he followed as long as it didn't slow down her current pace. fortunately she wasn't moving fast. She veered away from the lake, moving on to drier land. It would be a rather long walk, and shika wasn't in any rush. If she was interested in traveling faster she could, but she was probably going to take sol the longest way.

"Shiiiikkaaaaaa~!" The purple-furred, mammalian dragon came charging through the vicinity, with one of her fluffy tails waving wildly behind her. The other held a giant plush toy, which appeared to be like some sort of floppy tiger with cute, button eyes. She carefully held it above the ground as she ran, refusing to allow the precious plushie to scrape the ground and get all dirty.
In her excitement, Tsubomi failed to notice the other scent, and did not look at the other one nearby as she attempted to tackle her younger yokai friend. Even though she was very large compared to any human while in her dragon form, the leader of the Tribe of Ancient Stones was not worried about hurting her. Shika was durable, and would either be surprised and fall over from the tackle, or manage to dodge it and likely shout at the exuberant dragon. Before she could, however, Tsubomi would begin talking in a happy voice, mid-tackle attempt. "Look at this tiger! It looks JUST like you when you just joined the tribe... sans the antlers. Isn't it cuuuuute~?!" the mythical said, in one of her uncontrolled spazzes of cuteness. Rare for the one who was typically so cold and blunt, despite it becoming ever so slightly more common as of late.
Only then did the violet mythical turn her head to acknowledge the stranger, still with the adrenaline from before keeping her not embarrassed about the craze over the plushie. "Hello, stranger. Can I help you? Er... or did I interrupt something?" she asked, tilting her head and focusing her crimson gaze on the strange person.

Thanks to shika's good hearing, she heard tsubomi's approach. In fact she had plenty of time to react to tsubomi as the older female made her approach so obvious a normal human would have been able to sense her coming. Shika took enough steps back to ensure that tsubomi missed her.
Next the female grew and transformed easily becoming taller than the trees, and covered with apricot hued fur. Her crystalline blue antlers added a little extra even to her height, and her similarly hued claws poked out from her pawed feet. Her face, a cross between tiger and mustelid in shape wore a firmly unimpressed poker face while tsubomi rambled on about how cute the doll was and how well it reminded her of shika's little tiger form.
Shika waited stoically till tsubomi seemed done with her spazzing. Then shika roared, much like a lion's though not as deep, the sound was still loud and commanding. There was no need for words in the roar. If all went right it would capture tsubomi's attention quickly.
Shika attempted to take the doll, then claw it through the middle so the stuffing spilled out. Then she cast a look at their fiery 'guest'.
