The Ghost
Dark hair framed her face as she walked on unknown streets. Never had she seen something like this before, it was all alien to her. It was a silly use of words considering she was the one that didn't belong here. It was all so primitive and old school. She had been to hundreds of planets before, but they were all more advanced than this place. That said this planet was unlike anything she had ever seen. Not only had her landing been a bit bumpy, but everything just seemed wrong. She had scanned it a before landing and there were so many creatures here. Like nothing, she had ever seen on a planet without proper space travel. She couldn't see any stars do it all the light the city gave off, it was a bit sad. Without stars how could be people here wonder what was out there? Then again, maybe explore the rest of the planet first. She was no expert. Believe it or not but she was young for her species. She had calculated she would be 187 in the years of this planet. She looked more like 18. She patted her jacket where her inner pocket was, she could feel her screwdriver. It was good to know she had it if she were to get in trouble. She was too smart to need it but, it sure did help. She turned away for the street she had bee walking. The new one was dimmer lit and with fewer people on it. It was better that way, she didn't want to get mixed up with too much too fast. She had plans to stay here for a bit after all. She hadn't taken the time to learn too much before she got here, but it seemed there was some sort of shadow war going on. The world was like split in two and she was determined to find a way and perhaps find a way to make it better. Big goal, she knew that very well. She knew her power very well and it was possible, she had heard stories of another one like her. Not on this planet, but everywhere. He was known as the doctor and he saved plants for aliens, but she wanted to save them from them self. It would all be for later. Right now she needed to find a way to integrate her self into this place without getting too much attention. With the shadow war going she didn't want anyone to look at her twice. Sure she looked like a human being, but she did have two hearts. That was only the most noticeable differents about her.

Through the streets of the city there walked a man who bore little difference to the average pedestrian. Not too tall, light brownish, almost Caucasian skin, and a short, scruffy head of mussed-up dark brown hair. He wore a striped tricolored sweater vest that was tucked into dark brown jeans, with a copper wristwatch slipped neatly under the left sleeve of his off-white shirt.
Brown-and-white sneakers made little noise as he stepped fast across the sidewalk, dark brown eyes adrift through the air, his brow creased deeply in an expression of distant distraction. He held an open flip phone tightly in one hand, and about every six minutes or so he would dial a number and hold the phone to his ear; each time the call would not go through, and he would slowly lower it again.
He did not pause the next time he did this, his gaze wandering the street as he listened to the ringing and the dial tone on the other end, the automated voice telling him to leave a message and try again later. Not paying particular attention to the road ahead, one misplaced step and he might collide into an object or a person, yet many times, even when he was split second away from doing so, he seemed to notice at the last moment and casually step out of the way, cuffs brushing lightly against whatever thing he had just been about to crash into.
Perhaps he would manage to do the same as he unknowingly approached the woman ahead, or perhaps she would manage to dodge before he would have the chance himself. Perhaps both might end up too distracted to avoid the accident.

The Ghost She was by the mesmerized by who simple everything looked here. It was a wonder anything worked here. It was not that anything was old or not working like it should. It was just made so badly, so much energy wasted. She could think of about a million ways to make it all better, but she wouldn't share it with anyone. It simply didn't work that way. She didn't have many rules, but that was one of them. The planet had to work it out on it's own. She was lost in her own mind. She was still working out how everything worked and how thing fitted together. It wouldn't take long, but it still took time. Sure anyone could see that the street lamps was there to light up the place. That was not what she meant at all. No, she liked to know all she could. What was needed for the light to work, how it worked and why thing looked like it did. She was also listening to passing conversations. All in the interest of learning as much as possible.
She was highly distracted by everything that was new to her. She didn't even see the stranger walking right towards her. She didn't notice before he was right in front of her, momentets before collision. Seemingly impossible to prevent. That was if she was human, but she wasn't. Her reaction time was 10 times quicker. All it took was a quick step to her left and she passed right by him. She could have just kept walking and ignored it all, but that just wasn't like it. She stopped and looked at the man. "Hey watch it!" She was not about to let him get away with almost walking in to her, even if it was her fault as well. A wild smile was placed on her lips. Her hands was placed on her hips in a playful maner. It was time she learned for the locals. She just had to be careful, so she didn't give away they she didn't belong here.

The man's eyes shot up and to the side when he heard footsteps, casting a glance over his shoulder to notice the woman he'd nearly collided into. A hand was lifted to his brow to give an apologetic salute, his legs still carrying him forwards as he did not intend to stop --until the woman called out to him, giving him pause.
He looked around the street almost as if in an exagerratedly innocent manner, dropping the hand from his brow to point questioningly at himself. "Who, me?" he said, offering a brief, teasing smirk. The jest dropped from his face seconds after, his brow once again furrowing as his expression returned to its previous worried demeanor, and he glanced down at the open phone in his hands.
His eyes skimmed over the woman, dressed in leather jacket and ripped jeans, hands on her hips, with what to him seemed an almost crazed smile upon her lips. It came to his mind that he wasn't in a very well-lit backstreet, and he began to wonder whether she was some sort of street thug.
In belated haste he added, "Sorry, miss," and his shoes began to lead his body on once more, not wanting to stick around to find a knife held to his neck.

The Ghost
She tilted her head and watched as the man turned around. Pale blue eyes did their best to appear kind, but not even she could hide that little spark of crazy inside her. She had to be a bit out of her mind to do what she did. She was young and out for adventure, she had rebelled in the biggest way possible. She hadn't just run away from her home. Oh no, she stole a TARDIS and went on an adventure. Just like the man she had heard about growing up, just like the doctor. She had to be crazy to find her self on a strange and primitive planet without planning or finding out much before.
His voice pulled her back to the present. "Yes" He had answered her in a somewhat playful manner, but it all dropped quickly. She could see he was worried, afraid even. Oh for fuck sake, she had done it again. Why did she always do that? She noticed he had a primitive communication device in his hand. Was he going to call for help? He wasn't doing it yet. He was whoever quick to apologize and start walking again. Oh no you don't She was not about to let the first local she had interacted with just leave her. She crossed her arms and began walking after him. "If I knew this planet was so rude I never would have come here" She spoke lightly. Only to realize seconds after what a mistake she had made. She may be clever, but she didn't think everything over before doing it. She just hoped it would be taken as a joke. Her inner uncertainty didn't show on her outside at all. It was more fun when she made mistakes. It just meant she had to find a way to make everything right again. A normal boring life was never for her anyway.

His skin began to prickle slightly when he heard the woman take off after him, her steps seeming to match his in kind. He started to pick up his pace, only to falter at the sentence spoken behind him.
A rude planet, eh?
His head turned to glance over his shoulder as he walked, squinting in the low light of the night street. On appearances alone the woman did look human, and she had offered him that smile with a hint of insanity...despite the ripped jeans, which he knew was an actual style that could be bought in real stores nowadays, she didn't look particularly unkempt, or move in an especially odd manner, as one might expect a madman to be or do so. She seemed a little too young to be losing her mind anyhow. He was having difficulties reading her expression.
Turning his head back around, trying to hide the slight smirk quirking up one side of his lips, the man offered a return that he hoped could be taken in either of the possible scenarios. "Be careful who you speak to."
She was lucky he wasn't employed by the authorities, or in the habit of calling in suspicious acts to them; such a comment as she had made could have gone quite differently if he was. The reasons he wasn't going to report the possible slip were the same as why he wasn't preparing to ring the cops for fear of his life from what could well turn out to be a nightly robbery.
He glanced down at his phone again, itching to try another call, but not willing to distract himself so while the stranger was following him.
Another glance was given to see how close she was now. All at once his head would swing around in the other direction, his eyes and mouth widening in a gasp of surprise. One eye kept on the woman, hoping her gaze would follow his, that it would distract her just long enough; in those seconds he would dash off across the sidewalk and round a corner into the shadows of an alleyway, hoping she wouldn't figure out where to follow him.

The Ghost
Did he fear her? He was certainly trying to run away without running. Walking faster was not going to help. She was not here to hurt him, she just wanted to talk. It was only after her little slip he slowed down a bit. Sure it had been a mistake, but if it helped get his interest then she could surely use it. She had no idea why, but she had taken a liking to the man. Not something she believed would last, it was just for this moment.
Her smile never faded from her lips as she brushed some dark strands away from her face. As he turned his head to look at her she gave him a little wink as if to tell him he had heard right, Yet it was far from any form of proof. When he turned back around he offered her a warning of sorts. It just made her chuckle to her self. He was afraid of her, yet he was willing to warn her. She knew at that moment he was a good man. It didn't matter if anyone told her otherwise.
You fear me. She spoke quietly. To be honest she was not paying any attention to where she was going. If he wanted to he could lead her right into a trap, it just didn't seem likely. He glanced behind him again. She didn't mean to make him afraid, it just happened.
Then it seemed like he had seen something surprising. Quickly she followed his gaze, but she found nothing worthy of a reaction of that kind. He was much smarter than he looked, that was for sure. Quickly she looked back at him, only to find he wasn't there. She looked around but found no trace of the man. It was time to put that big brain of hers to good use. She looked around for good hiding places. Where would she go if she was trying to get away from someone? First, she would get out of view, but she would want a place she could keep moving from. A place to be hidden, but not trapped.
She found the closest alleyway and ran over to it. Tilting her head as she looked into darkness as she looked for him."I know you are afraid, but you don't have to be. I'm not here to hurt you. I'm a runaway, not a criminal. You are a good man and I just need your help. You clearly know more about this city than me. She spoke in soft tones. All her senses were looking for him but so far she found nothing. Perhaps she got the wrong alley?

He heard the footsteps outside the alley and, without even thinking about, he dove behind a dumpster, nose wrinkling as the smell crept up his sinuses, and crouched just low enough so that his head wouldn't poke out above the can's lid. His legs were tense for another run, but his breathing was already heavy. He'd been walking all night, and he couldn't stop his legs shaking from the sudden exertion.
He immediately regretted his decision, but before he could continue moving he heard the footsteps pull just short of the alleyway, and cast his gaze on the opposite end, which thankfully wasn't too far from where he crouched now, about the same distance as he'd crossed to get to the dumpster. Closing the phone and pushing it back into a pocket, those same fingers pulled out another object -- a small metal bar, which he flipped open to reveal the sharpened blade of a pocket knife.
The woman began to talk, though his ears strained more to hear her footsteps than her soft-spoken words. She didn't seem to be walking now, perhaps just peering into the darkness. He had no reason to believe her, and the fact that he was being chased at all only put him more on edge. For all he knew she had a gun in her hand now, trying to goad him out so that she could shoot him then strip his corpse bare.
His muscles tensed as he tried to remain as still as possible, fingers clenching tight around the knife's handle.
Then his phone rang and shattered all his hopes and dreams.
The man's curse might not be heard above the disco tune that sung out from the old device, but the dumpster scraping across the ground could. With his shoulder he quickly shoved the dumpster across the alley, turning it askew in the hopes that it might block the woman's path enough to slow her down.
He wouldn't be able to move it much before he'd get up and make a mad dash for the other end of the alley, aiming to round the corner the second he reached it.

The Ghost
She got no answer, but she hadn't really expected one. In fact, it would be a stupid idea for him to answer. Not because she was dangerous, but because she could be. He had no way to tell if she was telling the truth. A sigh escaped her lips. "You want me to just turn and walk away. I get that, I really do. But I can't. You already know more about me then most. I don't mind. Just tell me one thing about your self or this city. Do that and i promise you will never..." She was cut of by the sound of the communication device. She got spooked and grabbed her screwdriver out of her pocket only to but it back again. It was just so strange for of music.
A dumpster fell and she could see the shape of a man making another run for it. She really wished she could just leave him alone, but she was just not interesting in losing. For her it was all a game. To she dashed after him. Sure he was a man and she just a young woman, but she had biology on her side. Dobbel the heart and better lungs. It simply took longer for her to get tired. She would attempt to catch up with him before he could get to the corner. She spotted the knife in his hand but didn't let it stop her. It wasn't like he could actually kill her permanently with it. If she got close enough she would try and grab his shoulder.

Pulse pounding in his ears, he was definitely caught off-guard with how quickly the woman caught up with him. The man squeezed back a surprised yelp when he felt a hand on his shoulder; he immediately began to whirl his body around, trying to slap the arm away with his free hand (not the one holding the knife). Hopefully he was quick and strong enough to get away before she could get a firm hold on him, but even if he was, he would only end up colliding with the alley wall, his back against the bricks with his head steaming and his heart racing.
Despite this, his expression would appear noticeably calm, perhaps only so because of the exhaustion catching up with him.
He'd brandish the knife in front of him, holding it close to his chest with a shaky hand, the grip and position he was utilizing a clear mark that he had no idea how to properly defend himself. The phone continued to sing for a few more moments before silencing itself.
"Well, if we're being truthful here," the man said between his heavy breathing, "I don't actually have my wallet on me." He offered a disconcerted laugh, still unsure on how to classify the stranger -- crazy, scheming, or simply the tourist that she claimed to be.

The Ghost
She was a tad surprised when she managed to catch the man before he got to the corner. For some reason, she had expected him to be faster. Not that it was easy, it was just not as hard as she had believed it would be. The second she laid her hand on him he whirled around and she let go. He couldn't run away from her now. She quickly came to a halt as the man ended up standing between her and a wall. The knife was held in a shaky hand.
No one would be able to convince her that he did not fear for his life in this very moment. She was breathing heavily, but she still smiled. That man had the heart of a lion. For he didn't panic nor did he beg. The strange communication thing finally shut up. The comment he had for her brightened her smile and she chuckled. "It's a good thing I don't want it then. I told you I just want some information and you are free to go." She had promised and she wasn't a liar. Well she was, but not about that. she only lied when it was to protect her life. Like if someone came up and asked where she was from, she would say Gallifrey.

The man offered a slanted grin, though he didn't let the knife fall from his hands. Guess she hadn't been entirely bluffing, as she continued to insist that all she wanted was information. Hopefully nothing too sensitive.
"Well then, spit it out," he said, thinking only after the fact that he had better be a bit careful with what he revealed, or how he said it. If she was crazy, then she could fly off the handle at even the most innocuous of provocations...which, with all she'd said so far, implying that she was some foreign runaway from off-planet--well, how could he not think that she was at least a little bit delusional?
"What do you want to know?"

The Ghost
It looked like he had finally come around, for he was now grinning at her. The question he had for her was confusing, she was the one asking for information. So what the heck did he want her to say? Sure she was more than willing to tell him something in return, but it was his turn. She made no effort to hide her puzzled look. Lucky for her she got an answer before she had time to ask anything.
"Well something useful. So in other words, not something like the name of a city. There must be something you know that can't be found on the internet in five minutes. You did tell me to be careful, why is that? She spoke softly as she placed her right hand on her hip. She was testing to see if he knew anything about the shadow war or the world across the waters. The one with all the strange creatures. More then anything she wanted to knew things that would help her stay alive. She might not be very careful in nature, but it helped to know what she was up against.

Something useful -- moreover, something that couldn't be found on the...Internet. What was that thing again? The little newspaper in a TV tray, right?
He wasn't sure what to give her in that regard, and for a moment the only thing that crossed his mind was "look both ways before you cross the street" and "don't shout in a library". Luckily she prompted him with something further, a more direct question that he didn't have to think very hard on to produce an answer.
"Hardly a secret or rather useful," he told her.
He was finally catching his breath again, and his eyes flickered to either side of him, still trying to think up a way to get out of this situation; he didn't much like being pinned against the wall as he was now. He couldn't outrun her, but there was always the chance of ducking somewhere else to hide, or perhaps another stranger stumbling upon them.
He continued, "Sanctuary law dictates that anything dangerous or suspicious be reported immediately, preferably with evidence." Honestly, it was no different from any other town. "What you've been telling me falls under 'suspicious'." And potentially dangerous, he added silently.
His free hand had dropped into the pocket where his phone sat, the fingers rolling it around out of view. He wanted to check to see who had called him, whether a message had been left in his voice mail, but he was unwilling to let his gaze waver for too long from the woman in front of him.

The Ghost
She waited patiently for him to say something, anything. She felt a little sorry for the poor man, but she didn't regret what she had done. The first thing he said seemed more like a joke to her. Perhaps something he said to get time to think of something else. Regardless she took it as fun. She gave him a warm smile and chuckled as she took one step backward. It was not what she had asked, but it was a step in the right direction. "I should visit library one day, books are lovely.
What he said next confirmed some fears she had been having. She was lucky to find it out from him and not from someone working for the government. Her adventure her could have been short lived if that had happened. Ones he was done talking she took another step back and gave him a grateful smile. She used one of her of her arms to point to where he had been running to and gave him a little bow."You are free to go" She said as she slowly backed away.
Then something else hit her. Would he tell them about her? Would he go running to the police screaming alien?"But before you go. Anything you would like to know about me?" She wouldn't mind if he ran, but she wanted him to stay. If he could learn that she wasn't just some crazy lady perhaps he would keep her secret.
