The trees stood tall in long straight rows, grown up to a medium size due to careful tending and care. This Late in the season they were lushly laden with natures gems, the prize of whoever owned, the trees; A bounty of fruit.
What a must have for one little thief. Finding this was like winning the lottery or finding a chest full of pure gold coins. For the tiny animal child this was even better than any of those things.
Here there was fruit, More than the colorful fluffball could use in a lifetime.
Of course she entered, slipping under the fence and netting which was meant to keep little creatures such as herself out. She hopped between rows, Looking up into the trees for colors she was fond of. Yellow, nah. Orange, Nah.
Ahah. There was a pretty color.
She climbed up with care, and curled herself amongst the branches, picking one of the treasures off of the tree to munch.

Pekas dozed in the branches, large ears sleepily flicking away the gnats that gathered around her scruffy fur. The bright sun shone through the foliage, at a time when the bat preferred to be soaring in the warm rays, but the long days of summer brought with them old habits, and the Acerodon jubatus now found herself returning to her species' nocturnal ways.
On occasion the bat's nose would wrinkle or her wings would twitch, but otherwise she was still. Birds sung from trees beyond the one she slept in, which left her relatively undisturbed, and she took no notice when a little animal came climbing into the leaves of the same tree where she rested.
At first.
Ears rotated towards the sound of branches creaking, fruit being plucked, remaining partially asleep until.... One noisy crunch and the bat's eyelids snapped open, pupils retracting in the sunlight that slid between the branches. The bat's nose followed her ears, wings slowly unfolding at the sight of something small munching on one of the bulbous ornaments.
Thumbs reached forward, their claws hooking around the nearest branch to carefully, quietly pull the enormous bat forward, a dark blob behind a curtain of flickering leaves. A split nose, wrinkled, twitching, poking out through the foliage, followed by a pair of golden honey eyes.
A loud snuff was exhaled, blowing across the critter. Lips curled up in a toothy grin, jaws parting wide-- "HI!" the bat chirped noisily, snapping her muzzle shut to stare bug-eyed at the stranger.

A sudden squeak of greeting.
A startled shiren lost her grip.
Fruit and creature both ended up falling down out of the tree.
Though she had wings she didn't think to use them before she hit the ground.
Ouch.

Flip!
The bat blinked, hastily pulling herself further forward as the little critter lost its grip, stumbling. She swung out with a wing but it was too late--out from the tree the beast did fall, fruit included! She swung herself around until she was hanging upside-down from one of the tree's lowest branches, stretching her neck as she searched the grasses for a flash of color and fur.
"Sorry!" she said, her voice still something of a shout, now laced with mild worry. "Are you all right?"
The bat bit her lip nervously, guilt rising in her gullet.

Her back hurt the most. She'd hit it pretty hard, but still the child managed to roll back on her feet.
She was alright.
The fruit in the ground forgotten, the child hooked her little claws into the bark of he tree and began to climb once more, far more Slowly than the first time she'd scaled it.

She let a breath rush out as the critter rolled over and began to climb the tree, apparently forgetting the fruit.
The bat eyed the stranger for a moment, a colorful creature with four legs but also a set of wings--rather batlike wings, even! Leathery membrane, maybe a hint of fur along the wingarms...how curious. Obviously the tiny toddy must have stolen them!
The bat continued to hang from the low branch, nose following the movements of the small beast, one wing folding around her body, and the other half-extended as it lazily hooked and unhooked itself around the branch from which she was hanging. A casual smile turned up the corners of her lips, and she snorted once when the stranger drew close to the first set of branches.

A sound from the bat.
The small mammal cocked her head to stare its way.
She didn't really know what she was looking at, upside down with really big wings and a very odd face. Was it a bird maybe?
Weird.
The child pulled herself up the remaining length of the tree, and higher into the branches. She wrapped her tail allong a stem and snatched another cluster of the fruits. She held them close, watching the bat from above with her large pale eyes.

The bat's nose turned almost rightside up as the creature disappeared into the leaves, ears twitching at the sound of more fruit being plucked. Her other wing unfolded, and she swung herself back around so that she could see it better, hanging herself now from an equally sky-hidden branch.
She eyed the fruit it was holding, a mischievous glint in her gaze, and stretched forward with a thumb, trying to tap at it. "That's mine."

"Minenn" the child growls pulling the fruit under her chest and wrapping her wings in front of it. The bat can have other fruit from the tree but this fruit is hers. Should the bat try and touch her she is more than ready to try and bite those wings. It better not try and take the fruit.

The bat snuffed, pulling her thumb back as the small beast curled itself over the fruit, its expression clear enough to let her know that it intended to defend its bounty.
After a brief second of staring, she used her thumbs to peel back the lips of her long jaws, revealing a set of big teeth that included some hefty-looking canines. It was intended as intimidation, but with the smirking, rolling-eyed face that the bat was making, it wouldn't be hard to mistake as just some goofy stunt.

The expression on the bat's face made no sense whatsoever.
Back to the fruit.
The child began eating quickly, while keeping an eye on the bat, paranoid that the strange 'bird' would try something. p

The bat let her thumbs fall, lips falling with them. She grinned, ears forward, as the critter chomped hurriedly down on the fruit.

A small squeak squeezed out from between the bat's jaws.
She pulled herself up onto a slightly higher branch, crawling on its underside until she could hang upside-down, right above the small beast. There were more fruit around here, and one was on a twig sprouting from that same branch.
She pulled it off with a thumb and bit into it with a loud, juice-spraying CRUNCH.

The bat was too close, and too annoying.
The child swallowed the last bits of the fruit she had been eating, picked up her stash and found herself a different branch.
She hoped the bat would let her be.

The bat would not let the stranger be.
The sun that dripped between the leaves felt nice on her face, warming her up, and the bat continued to move in a bumbling, nimbly manner after the critter as she began to crawl away.
The fruit that the bat had bit into was clenched tight in her teeth as she swung, swayed, and then dropped heavily onto whatever branch the critter had slipped onto next, wings giving a brief, constrained flap as she tried to angle herself in order to block its intended path. It was thinner than the other ones she'd been hanging from, and the sudden weight caused the branch to bounce.
Then there was a sharp snapping sound.

The child hissed like a cat, a sharp warning sound that should make her intent quite clear.
Continue to be a nuisance and she would bite. She'd been unusually tolerant of the stranger, but she had a line to draw.
Then the brach began to crack.
Back down again it was. And the child still didn't fly.
This was gonna hurt.
