Her head thumped as the pair appeared...wherever it was they were supposed to be going. Kenessa had mentioned something about going treasure hunting, and, before she had chance to say much of anything with regards to whether she wanted to go, the poor girl had been dragged into her acquaintance’s adventures once more.
It was only the poor catgirl’s second or third time being through the ordeal of inter-dimensional travel, and the results were like a violent sea-sickness; despite the severe disorientation and nausea, however, Patchy just barely managed to keep from throwing up her lunch. As the rift closed, an odd chime was left in her ear; it was hollow, and held an eerie pitch that she’d never get used to no matter how many times it might linger in her hearing—however, it soon faded and the illusion that she kept in place while in Sanctuary faded almost immediately to reveal the calico’d ears and tail that had given her name.
“Ughnn...” she groaned, “So...where did you say we were going again?”
Her amber eyes glimmered in the dim lighting of the chamber they stood in. What appeared to be roots of some sort of tree grew through massive holes in the wall, making an eerie and picturesque frame around what she presumed to be an entrance deeper; they glowed a pale and mystifying white, providing the only light in the room after the portal had shut.

Kenessa The area surrounding them was a picture of absolute beauty. Alabaster white, framed flawlessly with pristine gold, shimmering in the luminous, plentiful lighting that came from what seemed to be potted plants on the floor, and falls of otherworldly shimmering waters that glowed as if dropping from the heavens.
"You don't listen to me much, do ya?" Kenessa quipped at Patchy. Of course, she hadn't even really briefed the nekomata on what exactly they were supposed to be doing. She found the girl languishing in Sanctuary and just... plopped her up.
An Orvius Tower; the remains of a people who, following their leave from Earth, traveled far into the cosmos in search of conquest and prosperity. And, boy, had they found it. Kenessa had read up on some of the lore they had - a space-worthy race of humans who, in some ways, ascended.
What that meant and how that happened? Still a mystery.
Either way, she had finally made it to the area. Within the timeframe, too. Good.
"This place is an Orvius Tower. It's a big fortress inside one of the uh... intergalactic voids," She tried to explain it as clearly as possible, "Lot's of stuff here; things you would never even believe. The stuff here would make Sanctuary look like stone age Neanderthals."
She almost giggled. "And I finally made it, heheheeee!"
Taking a step forward, the planeswalker drew a blade, then cleared her throat. "Now. Things might get a little hairy in here, yea? Gonna need you to stick by me, real close like." Planeswalking human True Neutral | 31 | Female El Cuervo

Patchy
Patchy nodded idly as the planeswalker explained why they were here—though nauseous, Patchy was quickly too enamored with the new environment to be paying much attention...even though she did catch most of it, sorta. What appeared to be gold lined the edges of the walls and what she assumed was a door; the walls were pristine with subtle ashen motifs contrasting against the white—they held not a blemish on them despite how old they must have been. “Wow...” she murmured, “It’s so pretty...”The nekomata’s ears twitched at the giggle that came from Kenessa’s lips—it was giddy, like a greedy child who had just been let loose in their favorite toy or candy store. For someone who had just admitted that the place was potentially dangerous—and whose builders made Sanctuary look like Neanderthals...whatever those were...it was concerning, even for a cat that was probably too stupid to understand half of what had just come out of the other woman’s mouth. However, it was when Kenessa cleared her throat that the catgirl fully snapped back into reality. She noted the blade in her hand, and swallowed nervously. “Yeah...um...right.”Jay

Kenessa She was satisfied with Patchy's compliance. "Alright, let's break the brick, then," she pointed her sword forward through the hole and marched in that direction.
The walk would lead them on the oversized branch, leading to another room that, while similarly themed as the one before, was quite different in architecture. It was larger, more spacious, and all-around prettier. In the middle of the room was the source of the branch - a gigantic tree that went both toward the ceiling and down into the floor.
The room was tiered, and the two explorers found themselves on the second floor. There were a number of containers around that seemed to just sit idly, one of which the auburn-head approached.
She looked the container over, left to right, to examine it. It was shaped almost like a large bottle, but lacked transparency on its ivory surface. In the middle of each face was a glowing blue slit of energy that sat upon a black surface. On the tip was another tiny nub of energy that seemed to stick out.
"What's this little nipple here?" Kenessa asked out loud. She touched the 'nipple', and it pressed into the container. "Oh, whoa," she backed away, expecting an explosion.
Instead, what she got were a number of small chips falling from it.
Her eyes were alight, and she turned to Patchy with a grin. "Oy! Find more of these crates and punch the nips!" She started to pick up the chips, putting them into her bag. "We're gonna be rich, Patches!" Planeswalking human True Neutral | 31 | Female El Cuervo

Patchy
What had once been a main chamber for the celestial fortress was now home to the overgrown tree in the center--its branches were wide enough to walk on and up without fear of falling, and the tree itself seemed to have grown to such a height that it reached the vaulted ceilings of room. It's pale light illuminated the chamber, leaving ghostly shadows to be cast by ornate columns and railings. It was simultaneously entrancing and eerie. That the place was abandoned, however, seemed not to bother Kenessa. Instead, the planeswalker had ordered her to start looking around for more containers. They weren't exactly hard to find--ornate, with cyan glows of energy coming from the center of them. The 'nipples' or buttons--whichever they were--were clearly present on the top, and easy to access. The cat-girl approached one a few meters away and looked at it curiously; like everything else, was white in color with gold trim--whoever had built this fortress really must have been rich. She gave the button on top fearful tap, unsure of what to expect--instead of chips or tokens, however, Patchy instead got a..thing. It looked like some kind of puzzle piece, and glowed the same bright blue as the container in places; a look on the back revealed some kind of circuitry or connectors, while the front was guilded ornately. It reminded her of a badge or pin. "Ooooh..." she purred. Jay

Kenessa Raiding an ancient, extraterrestrial building qualified as a fun time of Kenessa. She was positively gleeful.
That is, until she was interrupted.
She looked up from her picking up the spoils of their search, and found a window that peered into another room. She leaned her head forward, trying to figure out what was behind it.
Then, something walked by, and the auburn head fell back on her ass. "Shite! What in the..." she looked within again, but whatever was there had left her sight.
She called back to Patchy. "Patches, we uh... we should get a move on." Planeswalking human True Neutral | 31 | Female El Cuervo

Patchy
Unfortunately, for Nessie's sake, the calico cat-girl was too busy staring at her new thing to really notice that the planeswalker was startled by something. Despite having a (mostly) human form, she was still just a cat on the inside--shiny objects were the bane of anyone trying to get her attention. Then, there was a disturbing sound that echoed through the chamber. It was kind of like a scream, but more...hollow...it sounded more like an agonized death rattle than a scream. Humorously, the sound made Patchy drop the shiny blue trinket she had been staring at--her tail fluffed out behind her, and her face went pale in fright. "U-umm...uh...what was that!?"Jay

Kenessa "Nothin' good, bet your tail," Nessie responded to the calico girl. She scanned the area for any more signs of movement, and gripped her sword tighter. "Patches, stay near, no wanderin' of like ya do."
The planeswalker looked to the left and right for a moment, trying to listen in. Something was scurrying. Patchy would be more easily able to hear it than her - the latter's senses were far more honed than Nessie's. No matter how much you trained, you couldn't beat basic genetics.
"What eve-" Her question was answered almost immediately as she was tackled to the floor by something.
Snarling, blue, dog-like yet alien, angry, hungry; these all adjectives that registered in her mind as she fought to get the beast off of her. It roared and barked, reaching out with its claws to cleave the girl's flesh from her bone, mouth outstretched to mangle her neck. She kept it at bay by pushing the blade up to its neck, keeping it above her at an arm's length. It would get to her quickly if she didn't move - it was strong - very strong.
One slice from her blade got the monster off of her back, leaving it bleeding in a heap next to her.
"Fuck! Scared the shite outta me, ya fuckin mutt!" Nessie yelled out in frustration, kicking the corpse of the monster. She didn't even hear the rest of the footsteps on their way in her fury. Planeswalking human True Neutral | 31 | Female El Cuervo

Patchy
The sound of blade against flesh caused the cat-girl to wince, leaving her staring at the blue, mangled, and cleaved corpse. It was a hideous, rotted sight—a malicious union of the biological and technological...whatever it was, it was dead now. There was more sound, all around them—screeches and choking rattles echoing throughout the corridor. Whatever this place was, it was full of these creatures, or ones like it. What horrors had they awakened in coming here?
Patchy swallowed nervously—unlike Kenessa, she had no means of defending herself. Not a firearm, nor sword, nor even a knife could be found on the cat-girl’s person; if one of those things got a hold of her, she was almost guaranteed to be a goner unless there was an intervention.
However, something caught her attention...on the other side of the tree, across the balcony, there seemed to be flashes of...was it a blade of some kind? It was hard to make out with the glow of the tree casting shadows everywhere, but it seemed that the pair wasn’t alone—there was not only something else there with them, but someone. The movements disappeared down the corridor on the other side, however, leaving her to wonder what...or who, rather...it was that was in there with them. ”Did...did you see something move over there?” she asked, pointing to where she had seen the movements.

Kenessa I wasn't sure what in the world Patchy was pointing towards, but I knew it couldn't have been good. I turned to the girl, gesturing for her to stick close to me.
Kicking the carcass of the mangled beast aside - something that hurt a little more than it should've, and I let out a sound that confirmed it - I took out my pistol.
Patchy was defenseless; a delicate little thing. She wouldn't last three seconds in a fight... and I was the one who got her into this mess.
But, was I really willing to leave? Just yet? It took too long to get here...
Fuck.
I looked down the corridor, then turned back to the door behind us. Fucking hell, man.
"We're goin' in the opposite direction, yeah?" I said to the girl, grabbing her shoulder and turning her around. "Extraction point's gotta still be operational here..."
So, that was my new mission - find extraction for the little one, let her take her treasure, and get her back to my house safely. I'd leave after her. Planeswalking human True Neutral | 31 | Female El Cuervo

Patchy
Not word of protest came from the catgirl’s mouth as she nodded, ears flattened and tail twitching with nervous energy. The entire chamber reeked of death and decay; how hadn’t she noticed it before? Thankfully, the door through which they had came was close by and (hopefully) still operational. At the mention that it was time to leave, she found herself stuffing the glowing blue trinket into her jacket pocket—though not a greedy creature, it was pretty and shiny...two things that cats simply couldn’t ignore, after all.
“Right...” she murmured—anything louder than that, at least in her head, was bound to attract more of those...things, whatever they were. Jay

Kenessa I led Patches out of the place as quickly as humanly possible.
And quickly realized that we were lost.
Hallway upon hallway, room upon room, we stalked cautiously. The eerie sounds of the, now apparently not-so-empty, place very much told me everything I needed to know; this was a tomb.
A haunted tomb of ancient beings.
And we were trespassing. Suddenly, that obvious fact carried so much more weight.
"Patches... you-" I stopped in my tracks for a moment.
I hadn't looked up before since we got here. The ceiling was... so high. So very high up.
"-you uh... you doin' alright, hun? Hear anything?" I asked the shapeshifter.

Patchy
Despite the horrid sounds of choking death rattles and haunted screams filling their ears, even the lightest of foot steps seemed to echo throughout the vaulted architecture—even the cat’s quietest movements seemed to be bumbling and awkward with the horrific tension in the air. They were lost, and it seemed increasingly likely that this tomb would become their own.
“No, nothi—”
Her ears and tail twitched. Something was stirring—the faint sound of a blade slicing through the metallic carapace of the bio-mechanical horrors. It came from the next chamber, though more prominent were the gurgles and hollow noises of the beasts dying en-mass.
The door in front of them opened automatically as one of the beasts came charging out; this one, however, was different; it was tall, bipedal and hideous—Lovecraftian in appearance, almost. It seemed to be running right towards them, but then its left leg was sliced cleanly—then it was cut at the waist, and finally what remained of its torso was cut in half again—Nessie hadn’t even had a chance to raise her sword, let alone…
The beast’s slayer seemed to appear out of nowhere—a slight, blueish white glow surrounded them momentarily, remaining only in their grey, puzzled eyes. The suddenness of their appearance left little time to process what they looked like; however, what was abundantly clear was that the blade of their pole-arm stood perfectly still and no more than an inch in front of Kenessa’s nose. Kenessa I wasn't particularly surprised to find a monster here, even as gross as it looked. In fact, when its hollow bellowing resounded, I was ready to rip squid-face a new one.
Then, we were intercepted by some warrior. Some extremely graceful warrior, wielding a polearm.
Before I could even react to it, the monster was blended into meaty chunks. You could serve the thing on a platter if you had the mind and stomach to.
Then, before I could say anything, that same weapon was at my face. It took only a moment to register how fucking terrifying that was.
"O-oi... no need to get testy, now," I said to the... uh... individual. They looked like something straight out of a sci-fi flick, but I could read the stance. They were well-trained; extremely so.
A straight fight would not go well for me, not in the least.
Bad time for my teleportation to be on the fritz. "We, uh, we're just tourists..."
Oh Gods, we might have just met a guardian of this place. Planeswalking human True Neutral | 31 | Female

ka'athla nurmiin Not a muscle moved in the warrior's body; the blade on the end of her weapon wavered not an inch--well trained, indeed. Their appearance most definitely fit that of a science-fantasy trope: clothes made from synthetic materials, odd colored hair, and a weapon that cut hardened alloys like warm butter. A cloak or robe of a society long lost covered their shoulders, white in color and with an emblem of a lotus on the back--much like the effigies that were engraved into the doors.
More importantly, however, was the expression on her face--confused, bewildered at the pair standing in front of her. One was human, the other not quite--both women. The one in front had ruddy hair--neither brown nor red--while the one behind her had a black mop on her head, with ginger streaks...not to mention the feline ears and matching tail. A tense moment of silence followed the cocky one's comments. Tourists didn't come into infested derelicts--the blade in the woman's hand was indication enough that at least one of them had come prepared for trouble.
After what felt like an eternity, she lowered her weapon. "'Tourists' don't come wielding a blade," she commented--not an ounce of humor was in her voice. As much as she wanted to ask questions, though, now wasn't the time or place--the place was crawling with the remnants of the Infestation in other chambers.
