Sanctuary Authorities and Officials
Sanctuary Authorities and Officials
Sanctuary is in need of officials! The continent is the leading authority on all things anti-supernatural, and serves as the most technologically-advanced society in the setting. With that, it needs characters to operate within that system!
Universal Criteria
Any character is allowed to be a Sanctuary Official so long as they meet the following criteria:- No magical power or potential, whatsoever. They must be completely normal.
- They must be, for all intents and purposes, human. No abhorrent, distinctly inhuman mutations. Cybernetics are fine.
- They must be rigidly against any and all supernatural elements. Whether this is to the point of genocidal mania is up to the player, but they must be extremely intolerant of it.
Director
The Director of Sanctuary is the absolute leader of the ruling faction, the Authorities. As such, they possess near limitless power and, of course, authority over the processes of Sanctuary. Think of them as the dictator, whose word is as absolute as their hold over the military. The Director of Sanctuary has the following powers and influences:
- In-Character: Full autocratic power over Sanctuary - can appoint whomever they wish, enact any law, control all forms of government and the officials within, etc.
- Out of Character: Changes to any Sanctuary positions for other characters/NPCs; can create Sanctuary-wide plots and quests.
deputy
The Deputy of Sanctuary is a vice-president. They are there just in case anything happens to the Director, and will assume the position of Director when their superior is incapable of performing their duties. They work not only as a chief adviser, but as the second-highest authority in the land. The Deputy of Sanctuary has the following powers and influences, all of which are under the power of the Director:
- In-Character: Same powers as the Director of Sanctuary, but all decisions must go through the Director. Director is able to veto any and all decisions by the Deputy.
- Out of Character: Same as the Director of Sanctuary, but all decisions must go through the Director. Director is able to veto any and all decisions by the Deputy.
chief enforcer
The Chief Enforcer is the head of the military. They are the General, who commands all other directly affiliated regiments of Enforcers in Sanctuary. They are the primary military adviser of the entire executive heads of government, has control over the policing of the state, and all military operations are ultimately reported to and judged by them. They answer to the Director and Deputy.
The Chief Enforcer has the following powers and influences:
- In-Character: Able to fully control police and military; able change the roster of Enforcers; near total power over anti-supernatural and general peacekeeping procedures.
- Out of Character: Can change the positions of characters in Enforcer positions; able to create Enforcer-related quests and plots; can intervene in Sanctuary threads and send Enforcers there when capable.
NOTE: The ability to intervene in a thread is only allowed in the following contexts.
- The thread must be in the Sanctuary sub-board.
- If [Private] and no conspicuous events are occurring, the Chief must be invited.
- If the [Private] thread has a lot of very conspicuous events going on, it's free game.
- If [Public], the thread is free game to be intervened in by the Enforcers.
head scientist
The head of all research and development of Sanctuary technologies, primarily things made to deal with the supernatural and maintain order within the populace. The Head Scientist is the final authority on all things technological, as a result. They answer only to the Director.
The Head Scientist has the following powers and influences:
- In-Character: Can standardize any technology/advancement in the sciences; oversees and commands all scientific research branches; can create laws pertaining to the sciences, all engineering, and its use.
- Out of Character: Can change the positions of any Sanctuary science officials; can create science/technology-related quests or plots; can intervene in threads that relate to their field.
