❖ MALIK YOUNG
"You... Didn't get hurt...at least." Malik's words were strained, punctuated with stiff pauses which reflected the effort he needed to keep his energy under wraps. Talking caused his concentration to slip just enough that it was a struggle again. A real angel would have had an easier time at this, wouldn't have a problem containing their own abilities.
He didn't blame Kellan for not acting back there. Things might have gone inhumanly fast. "I... Faltered too..." Malik admitted. Between shuddered breaths "shoulda stopped it...don't know how."
Now that it was over for the moment, Malik saw paths he should have taken, things he should have done with might have changed the outcome. How could he have let that happen? He felt a little guilty. Now that idiot boy who was probably just an ordinary human had been absconded by a dangerous shadow being.
Glowing blue eyes followed Kellan's gaze. There was writing, dark against dark, and barely legible. "Damn... It's baiting us." The dreadlocked male shuddered. He was getting frustrated, which did nothing for his attempts to keep his abilities stable.
This was very bad. It meant that Doppler probably wouldn't be killed immediately, which was good, but it also meant that if they wanted to try and rescue the stupid ghost hunter, they'd have to go right where it wanted them, possibly giving up any advantage they had in terms of terrain.
Given Malik's inexperience and Kellan, (Malik didn't know how he'd fare in such a fight.) The half human knew he'd need to get help. Out of the supernaturals he'd met, could he ask anyone? He didn't know how to contact the real angels he'd come across, and everyone else who he'd met, more non-spiritual beings, hadn't shown off many powers for obvious reasons. Malik had no clue if they were even well equipped for such a foe.
Maybe he should just report it. He could try and fein confusion, let the very people didn't want supernatural beings in sanctuary find out about the shadow woman's act of abduction. Right now that was seeming like the best option. "Maybe...Maybe we should let sanctuary deal with this..." He suggested as soon as he had calmed his thoughts down enough to speak again. This had it's problems too. Unfortunately Doppler had seen the whole thing and if the authorities dealt with it, they'd probably believe the boy's report even without photos.
