The man seemed a little more talkative once Nifa aimed a question from another perspective. She was far from an emotional being, preferring logic and the thinking process over feelings.
What he said did resonate with her, however. To be something he did not believe existed; that was an interesting thought. Nifa had always been aware of her capabilities, but for someone who only unlocked them upon reaching adulthood? She could understand that it must be tough. She knew that the entire continent hunted the supernaturals, not from her parents telling her-- they still believed she was safely ignorant-- but from her own scrying within the mirrors and shiny surfaces. He was one of the ones her parents likely were targeting. How funny it would be if they knew she was consorting with their likes. It was an amusing thought for the young girl.
"Do you stay here in Sanctuary? It's not really the best place for your kind," Nifa commented, stating the obvious and reaffirming what he had said. What she really wanted to know was what was beyond the veil of her own country; that shadowy place that was so hard to see, no matter the surface she peered into. Did he know anything about it?

"You know of a better place?" Malik asked sarcastically. Sanctuary people usually didn't know a thing about the rest of the world. He certainly hadn't known anything beyond it for a long while. "Its not exactly easy to leave and there isn't anywhere safe to go. I don't get the luxury of staying anywhere long."

"I do, actually~" Nifa said, uncrossing her arms as she responded to his sarcastic tone. He had a point, which explained why she had not seen him before. However, his response was not enough to satiate her curiosity. She knew that there was more out there, and she was going to ensure he either knew something or absolutely nothing before moving on. "A land beyond here... one that is a bit more magical."
The high and majestic mountains, the beaches of myths, the grasslands of fantasy, they all did exist elsewhere, with dragons flying the skies and magic an open part of everyday life. However, she really only saw glimpses and shadows; nothing solid enough yet, even though the images were becoming clearer. She wanted answers, and hopefully, this astral man could give her just that.

He couldn't fully hide the frown of recognition on his astral features, though if they could actually be read by the girl was another question. He'd been in a magical land long enough to know of it.
Still he crossed his own arms, and huffed. "Whatever's out there, trying to get to it's gonna be hell" he bemoaned, treating it the same way he viewed getting back to sanctuary as a physical being right now, pretty much trouble at every turn. Still out there was a safe space. He didn't want to tell anyone about it even if they didn't mind seeing things like whatever he was.

The answer still was not quite satisfactory for the young girl, who wanted to know more than what the man was letting on. His words hinted that there was more than just ocean beyond the shores of Sanctuary, however. Frowning, Nifa decided to continue to pry, with hints being nowhere near enough for her. "So, there is a place out there," she murmured in hopeful confirmation of his statement. "It's not that I want to get to it; I simply want to know more about it."
She chimed in an innocent voice, hoping to learn more about that place she could barely see, and likely never physically reach. If she could only understand it more, then maybe that would be enough.

The glowing being glanced at the girl. "You just said there was." He pointed out. Well she'd definitely implied that she knew of some magical land beyond sanctuary, and he hadn't outright denied it.
"Sadly I can't help you. I've never been there." He faked ignorance of that land, and was determined to continue doing so seeing as she'd openly said that her parents were enforcers. He didn't want to compromise the safety that Eokia was for him and perhaps many other supernatural beings.

"Lucky guess for me, actually. I can see the far-off land, just barely," Nifa corrected with a sincere giggle. Her scrying did not let her see too far away. It was as if the land was protected and concealed; blocked off from the rest of the world. Why did such a place need to be hidden away? It only made her more curious. "You've never been there, but you implied you know about it. How did you come by the information?"
Her question was innocent and curious, as she tried to briefly catch his gaze. She wanted answers faster, but did not want to do something too dramatic that would leave her in pain or even passed out. All she wanted to see was the mysterious land, and that was what she would search for if their eyes even briefly met. If they did not, she would continue trying.

He rolled his eyes. "yeah, hypothetically. if it exists you know more than me. I'm going off what you told me to begin with" Malik pointed out with an attitude slightly annoyed that the nuance he had been trying to keep had failed to be fully read. She'd mentioned the other land first. Going off that he'd been trying, and perhaps failed, to not add any more information about that land to what she already knew. He refused to be convinced that the lie had failed yet. He was also tired of her pressing about some other land.
"I'm more worried about the fact that you walked up to me so boldly. You've got to learn to hide stuff like that so no one figures out you can see weird stuff others can't." It had been 'safer' today, but what if there'd been other people around. He didn't want her to commit some of the same mistakes he'd made. He glanced at her then, trying to impress on her the seriousness of that issue. That should be far more pressing, and more of why he'd consented to humor her to begin with.
Meeting her eyes was a mistake. His gaze was strong enough to cower most humans he'd met. It had been that way even before he'd come to recognize himself as not human. Yet there was something about her's too. A form of telepathy? bringing some images of Eokia to mind before he could shield himself. There wasn't much to see. A wild forested land, and part of a wood and stone ocean side city, with a few human-ish inhabitants who were a little off, odd of build or grey of skin tone instead of natural shades.
After that Malik stopped it. As soon as he figured out what was going on he put up a mental, and somewhat spiritual blockade, preventing further transfer of information from occurring. She was not welcome in his mind. He glared at her. "what the fuck?"

His concern was appreciated, however, the child had little to nothing of a sense of healthy fear. Her mind allowed to to believe she floated above the rules and consequences, especially after so many escapes before, from questioning, suspicion, or really anything she wanted to avoid. Such an ability aided her in her beloved hobby of being an information broker. As she took in the images, Nita's grin slightly widened in satisfaction. The land she saw was definitely nowhere in Sanctuary, else she would have seen it earlier, in a book or picture or former scry. The city next to the ocean, and the inhabitants that she could sense were not one's average human fascinated the lavender haired girl, who was instantly eager to know more about the place.
"'Hypothetically', hm? You liar~" she snickered in response to his coarse language, questioning what had happened. He had somehow interrupted her scrying into his eyes, but she had seen enough to consider herself content. She was one step closer to learning about the new fascinating, magical land.

Rather than respond to her jibe directly, Malik simply answered in a tone firm with carefully controlled anger. "Goodbye." This conversation was over to him, and he was going to have nothing more to do with the girl.
He stalked through one of the walls and so left the room.

Her scrying had struck anger somehow in the ghost. She could have expected it; most people did not appreciate their mind and privacy being read if they figured out what she was doing. Nevertheless, information mattered more to her than the feelings of others. And besides, if he had not lied in the first place, she would not have had to take such dramatic measures.
"Quite the reaction for a seemingly holy being who was caught lying," she muttered in an amused manner. He was an astral projection, so there was a possible chance that he could hear her through the wall, or not. Regardless, the situation tickled the girl's funny bone-- the fact that she, a mortal, had ticked off a spirit greatly humored her. It was well worth the price she paid for scrying in one's mind.
