❖ JESSIE VANNER
The port district was an unpleasant place to be. Litter filled the streets, and the murky ocean water below the concrete boardwalk couldn't be clean.
The boats that loomed from their docking places were large and ominous armored vessels, painted in earthy grey and green tones, though each bore the insignia of the land proudly as a badge. There were other boats, fishing vessels and cruise ones, as well as some privately owned yachts, and even a schooner. Yet it seemed like the military dominated the harbor today in a clear demonstration of might.
The sea breeze was the only thing that felt remotely clean right now, as the red-head teen watched the ships. It was vaguely nostalgic, in the sad sort of way. Jessie remembered the day when she'd watched 'that man' disappear on the horizon for the last time. Yet These ships were still and silent. There was not a military representative in sight. Why were they here? it wasn't like Sanctuary had any enemies usually. The politicians, and leaders of this country often spoke of there being a New Era of Peace after all.
Jessie felt bristled fur brush under her hand. Her hand closed around it, gripping it tightly. Jessie drew stability from the contact. It had to be her partner, The great wolf-dog who'd been by her side for many years already, and who had been missing since the mysterious event which had devastated a large swath of the city. He had finally found her, as she'd known he would.
"Why'd you take so long you big oaf?" the boyishly dressed female asked looking down at the massive canine who now stood beside her.
The black furred canine just looked up at her, wagging his tail like a normal dog. This kind of behavior was quite unusual for a hybrid canine of Cloak's type, but cloak had many unusual behaviors which .
Jessie smiled. "Is that so? you'll have to tell me more later."
She began walking down the concrete boardwalk, the massive dog keeping pace by her side. The sky might be stormy and grim looking, and the harbor boats, hinting at some sort of doomsday, but things were looking up for Jessie now that she was reunited with her man's best friend.
