She kept her head down for the moment trying to conceal herself the best she could despite being almost a seven-foot monster. Her claws gripped the bottom of his seat. When she looked up, she saw the promising shopping center. If only she could find some baggy clothing, maybe it could conceal her more.
"Hey-uh," She said keeping her voice and head low, "Maybe I could get some baggy clothing to conceal myself more?" There was a pause between her words as the horror of how she was captured played through her mind. They had, in fact, taken her armor, however, thankfully, not her most prized possession. "They-uh-" She stammered, "-Stole my clothes when they captured me."

Malik sighed. He could just imagine the cut to his already strained finances that could come with feeding and clothing this beast. He'd work with what he had. That was really all he could do in this situation, even if it meant it would takw a bit longer for him to pull himself through his own current issues, the ones he'd biked out here to try and escape. He was resigned to make it all work out, even though it meant a few sacrifices on this end of events.
Eventually, he hopped off the bike and guided it into a thicket of trees on the other side of the road. It separated the shopping center from who knew what, but really was the only cover visible in this area. Any closer to the stores and there would only be wide open parking lot, which would offer no protection from the eyes of those who might wish harm. Even worse, the place was heavily surveillanced. If human eyes didn't see, cameras definitely would. As long as the creature did not go out there, she should be safe.
Once in deep enough, Malik waited for her to get off, before resting the bike against a tree. He looked the monster over, trying to guess compared to himself, a correct clothes size and factor in the fact that she had wings and a tail as well. If he had to err, he's try to err on the large side. "You need underwear too?" He asked hoping that would not be the case. He could not guess her size there, and he didn't want to have to try. (For that felt like an invasion of privacy, and some of her was..awkwardly similar to human) He'd do what was necessary of course. After he answer, he intended to go into the store and see what he could find. Peri

The young creature watched as he parked the bike and dismounted it once he stopped. She leaned up against the wall and finally put her ears up with a sigh of relief. "I promise I'll pay you back," She told him and made a motion with her hand, "Times ten, you won't regret this, I promise." Her head nodded as he proceeded to ask questioned, nodding slightly with each one of them.
"I usually have my armor and premade clothes. I've worn 'human' sized clothes before, I usually wear about a 2X in women's and about a 3X in women's pants." She didn't find it a bit embarrassing about the underwear. "Nah, my fur kind of acts like underwear...I guess?? It's been such a long time since I even wore them," She made a waving hand motion and shook her head, "So don't worry about underwear, just if you could please get me a hoodie to cover my ears."

The male nodded, then left quietly, heading out of the thicket of trees, and towards the shopping complex at a brisk pace. He walked with intentionality, glancing only temporarily at the signs naming the stores, so that he could know which one to enter. Not all sold clothing, and some of the ones which did were way too fancy for Malik to afford. Luckily it was easy to spot. The Brand name super-store was essentially a Walmart, by a different name, but the same idea, known to sell relatively affordable food and groceries. This was the store Malik chose to enter, knowing that here he could find anything he needed to buy.
It was busy in the store. This did nothing but suck up time as Malik tried to find larger, casual womens' wear in the right size. The worst was the check out. Lines were long, and people took up more time than they needed to, but eventually Malik was able to pay for the items, and make his way out.
He cut across the lot, and back to the thicket of trees, carrying two bags. He handed her the larger one first, the one with the clothes in it. Peri

While the young creature waited, she backtracked her steps since the capture. Another thing on her mind was getting back home, getting some supplies, and going on a manhunt for the poachers. They had to be around somewhere. She would have to ask the young boy where the nearest big city was that could harbor a black market. Her teeth ground against each other as she thought until she saw him walking across the vacant parking lot.
She took the bag and nodded, "Thank you." Her hands went to quick and short work with the bags and clothing, slipping the pants on leaving her tail wrapped around her leg. Her hands grabbed the hoodie from the bag and slipped it on over her head, putting on the hood covering her ears while her wings folding up. It didn't exactly hurt her however, it didn't exactly feel super comfortable. "I know how hard it must have been to find these," She said sincerely, "It was really hard to find a size that fitted when I first tried to find clothes. I guess I never properly introduced myself," The young creature told him and looked a bit embarrassed, "I'm Peri, might I get your name?"

Although he did not know all the creature's plans, Malik had thought ahead a little bit. From the other bag, the one he had kept he took out a steaming plastic box of fried chicken, which he had bought hot inside the store. He opened the container, and carefully removed the top, creating a makeshift plate, and one deeper dish filled with the crispy meat,so the food could be split between them more easily. There were two similar smaller boxes with side dishes as well. One had mashed potatoes. The other held hot a vegetable medley. He brought out rolls, and bottled drinks as well, and a pair of fat, individually-sold apples.
He talked while he set out the food on a clear space on the ground, making sure that none of it spilled. "It's easier when you don't stand out" Malik pointed out the obvious difficulty with a monster acquiring clothes. Otherwise, its find someone sympathetic or go thief." He added, in a way which while blunt, was not judgmental if that was what she'd needed to do. "I'm Malik." He decided to stick with first name only. "You're hungry right?" If he remembered right, there was no reason why she wouldn't be after spending hours if not days cooped up in a box.
Finally he brought out Plastic forks. Although he had a plastic lid to act as a plate for his own use, he'd let Peri have first dibs on everything. Peri

"Yeah," She sighed and began separating the chicken into two halves. She knew since she was starved she was definitely eating all of the meat that she could get her hands on. "But I guess it helps when monsters you know are a bit more humanoid than you." Her lips creased into a frown as she began eating, trying her best not to eat wolfishly. "If you're wondering what I am, I'm a Turbo; a breed of monster that was once locked underground by humans. If you have any questions, like most people would, go ahead. It's the least I can do to provide answers for saving me."
As she continued eating, she swallowed and spoke again. "How much would you like to be paid?" There was a moment of silence as she finished all of her chicken, "Thirty coins? Gold coins of course-" Peri nodded her head as he looked a bit wide-eyed at her, "Probably worth several thousand dollars in USD money.-" Peri stopped for a moment as her ears shifted in her hoodie and her blue eyes shone some light. "-If I can get home that is."

Malik saw how she went for the chicken first, so he scooped up a bit of each of the hot non-meat options for himself first. Still, he hoped the creature was an omnivore. He'd bought most of this for her sake after all. "I make it a policy to not ask many questions." Malik answered as he served himself. "I figure it's better not to know things sometimes." There was a slight sadness in his tone. Of course there were things he wished to ask, but he didn't want to potentially draw out a painful memory or find out something the athorities could use against her. Although getting better at playing dumb in public, he'd never been victim to the government's mind-probing techniques. Of course that stuff was mere rumor. If the government tampered with anyone, well those people didn't say so.
"There's been a shortage of gold." Malik noted grimly. "You might have been underground when it happened, but all hell broke loose in the city, and some human-looking monster fought with it, then took a ton away." He explained, crudely summarizing what was a far more complex story. There was a tension in Malik's tone which came from the emotional baggage from that event. He was coming close to topics he didn't want to think about if he could avoid them. "Short as I am on funds, exchanging that's gonna be a pain." He ought not refuse such an offer. He sorely neeed funds. Maybe he was just being more pessimistic than he needed to be.
"I might be able to help you get home...some." He ventured slowly. "But all I know is capital city, and I've got to work tomorrow." He wished he didn't. He wished he could disappear off towards the countryside, or find a place where he didn't have to worry about the athorities. He'd dropped everything once in the past, but he was sure his position was too perilous to try that again. Peri

As he talked she grabbed the apple and pawed within her hand as her other hand grabbed a roll and lead it up to her muzzle, taking a large bite out of it. "I appreciate you doing anything for me in the first place," She began after he trailed off, "I could never thank you enough," Peri nodded her head and took another bite and swallow of her roll, finishing it, "I don't believe I was anywhere near the area at the time. Or here-" She motioned with her free hand around herself.
"I'm very lost in this area, even where you found me. When they captured me, they must have tranquilized me because I had and still don't have an idea where I am." She looked down a bit sad as her ears shifted under the hood then she looked up sighing, "So, I apologize for any misconceptions I may have about money prices or location."
"Really though," She looked out the side of her eyes and down the alley, "Don't worry about sending me home if it's going to give you problems-" Peri's fluorescent orbs looked back at him with a concerned stare, "Really just getting me out of that box and this is enough. I know what it is to work a minimum wage 9-5 job. I really do. I was once a human. I was a college student. I know it's hard for people to work a 'starter' job and do just about anything else. Though, I still promise to pay you like I said I would."

Malik grimaced slightly. "should of bought a map." he noted regretfully. luckily the store was close, unluckily technology usually replaced paper maps, and sometimes they were hard to find since many people had some kind smart phone or handheld device that could offer gps compatibility. Malik was one of the people who didn't along the lines of sticking with the cheapest options. This sadly meant he couldn't even pull out a phone to show Peri where she was now or what was around. Malik was not worried about himself becoming lost, since he knew the way he had come, and could retrace his steps, but he could not guide Peri to specific places around the outskirts of the capital either, so he was only a bit more knowledgeable than she on the matter.
He continued listening till she said something rather shocking "How do you even go from human to..." Malik blurted out before cutting himself off. His last word would have been something a bit on the insulting side, but the fact that he'd ended up asking the question at all meant the damage may have been done. People usually just didn't turn into something so anatomically different than human. People usually didn't turn into different kinds of beings at all, especially without either a trigger or an already present capacity to do so. elite

With his comment, she first looked a bit shocked then looked down in shame. Her blue fluorescent eyes still shone from within her hood. "I didn't have much of a choice." Her tone seemed harsh and a bit stretched out as if it was tired from an emotional standpoint. "If you're given the choice to die with no one ever knowing and the last vision they see of you is falling ten thousand feet down a snow mountain or live if you save the life of a person you don't know who is also dying and the only consequence is giving up only your physical body, give me a call alright?" She switched positions so her feet were under her and she raised up getting up. Her tone seemed very sarcastic and short with him. Rather than spitting out a sentence to reveal the major changing point in her life, she wanted him to maybe prompt her a bit better than being short with her.
Despite having nearly no boundaries about the subject, Peri had to draw the line somewhere. She couldn't control that fateful day. Her forked tongue slid out of her muzzle and she bit down on it. "You can have the rest-" She waved her hand and turned her back to him, "I appreciate all you did today," And she really did appreciate what he did, though, she figured that this was the last time she would be saying it, "I'll find you someday and pay you, alright? It may be in the next month or maybe even the next year. But I promise it won't be more than a year." Her head turned slightly so she could see him out of the corner of her eye, "Also, if you ever do remember me; remember me by Riley, my 'real' name, Peri was her name." Then, the young creature turned her head back straight and began walking out of the alleyway.

He'd really touched a nerve hadn't he? Stupid boy, you should know better. He thought to himself, but the damage done probably wouldn't be easy to mend. He stood quickly, and called out to her. "Riley, I'm sorry. Asking was insensitive of me." He admitted, appologizing for the mistake. That really was his fault. Words might not do much, but he was sincere. He felt a bit angry as well. His hands were in fists before he realized he was clenching them. Good thing he was not angry at her. How dare someone throw that kind of choice on anyone? Unfortunatly people had to make choices between undesireable consequences quite often, and sometimes didn't even know there was any choice involved. "Life shouldn't pull things like that." He noted, frustrated by her story. elite

Peri turned around and was more torn than anything, not upset by him but she had often put off the thought of that fateful day because of the painful memories associated it. Tears streaked down her furry, tan cheeks as her fingers pulled down her hoodie and her ears bounced up. The glow of her eyes dissipated as it came into the sunlight. "No-" She sniffled, "I should be sorry. I understand how you feel. I should be more empathetic." The two tips of her forked tongue came out as if she was biting it.
Her hands slinked up against her body until she was pretty much hugging herself. Slowly but surely, her ears slumped down to be against her head again. For the first time since she was turned a monster, she wished she was human again. It would have been much easier on her parents, friends, and other loved one when she came back. She could go back to her college degree instead of having to live in the monster city, where the only smartest person is the Royal Scientist. For a few moments, she wished she could have just had a normal life. This, in turn, made her cry a bit harder, heaving her chest for breath. "I-I just-" She blurted out, "-Wish I could have been normal my whole life and not-" Peri trailed off again looking down at her body, which made a hard lump in her throat to swallow. "-This."Loner。

Malik looked to his right towards the ground. He understood the feeling Riley was describing far better than he wanted to admit. He was different too, and even if he didn't look like a monster, that didn't make a difference. True, he'd usually be in less danger from the anti-magic society as long as he didn't make some mistake that gave himself away. Riley couldn't even do that. After standing still for a moment, thinking to himself, he closed the distance between them in a few long strides. Reaching out, he made an attempt to touch her shoulder, but if she cringed or shied away from the contact, he'd let his hand fall to his side. Hesitantly, he brought his blue eyes up to potentially make eye contact. Her wish put into words one he'd felt many times when he'd gotten involved in situations that orbited the supernatural. "I Know." He spoke simply, but in a tone which he hoped really did show that he understood how she felt. "I'm different too." He hated admitting that, especially at a time where it was (thankfully) not self evident. He didn't want to have to show her how different. elite

When his eyes met hers, hers seemed to burn with a bright blue intensity that could almost match fire. The lump in her throat grew larger as she tried to swallow it. Then when he put his hand on her shoulder, she did the same with her opposite arm. The pain and empathy seemed to flow between their touch. For once, she felt like she had a pure connection with another 'human' since she had changed. In a rush of emotion, she quickly placed her other hand on his shoulder and pulled him in for a hug, she tried to not squeeze him in her grip.
Her next words were hard to make out between her hoarse breathing from crying, "Why-" The strain in her voice almost made her heart hurt. That one word seemed to just make both her and his heart wrench with pain. "Usss." She seemed to hiss with the end of the word as her tongue was forked. For now, she was beyond the control of hiding her scrapped emotion. He had plucked a thread that just sent her over the edge, so for now, until she had let almost everything pent up out, there was no stopping this emotional outpour.
