Having no house to go back to, Malik hopped on his bike, and began to ride. He understood he'd need to go back to the city. He had a job to hold down, and he understood he could not live on the streets. Yet he just felt a pressing need to escape for a while.
The young male rode until there was nothing that he recognized in sight, no land marks, or street names. He was moving away from the city a little bit, as the terrain transformed into a more suburban model. Malik was used to center city, but found the extra space a blessing for fried nerves, and a stressed spirit. He had some breathing room out here, if only for a little while.
Malik spotted something interesting on the side of the road. He almost missed it. Slowing, the male hopped off and began to walk the bike to the curb. It wasn't a person... in the normal sense. (looking for something obviously supernatural in nature, animal, robotic, or alien, or an unusual object)

It was a human sized box that Malik had found nestled in the ditch by the road. Any other person would have passed it off as empty. However, now, in the light of the evening, he could see that this box glowed blue from inside. Inside, unbeknownst to Malik at the time, was a Turbo. This animal had various features such as small wings and a large tail with fanned attachments. It was also separate from its fellow kin, being more sentient.
She had been in the box for a while. Her paws covered her naked body. She cursed the day she let herself be consumed by her conservation efforts. Ever since she had come back to the surface, she had been thwarted and hunted down every step of the way. Now, she had been tagged and was off to trade. Or at least, was or had been. The young creature was glad she was more intelligent than the creatures that were captured with her, deities be with those still on that truck. It was a matter of time, she knew, that someone would come to see what was in this crate that she was in sometime during the night. If nothing else, she knew she would use her magic as a last resort to get her out of this crate. A small smirk came on her face when she thought of tearing the poachers apart, but lost that smirk when she knew they had outsmarted her and put a padlock on her crate that she could not reach or break. It also became a problem when she realized that the crate was too thick for her to break on her own with pure, barehanded strength which had gotten her in this situation of being in this ditch as she had tried to open it and instead threw herself off of the truck. As of that moment, she spent it curled up in the crate those awful people had put her in plotting just how to get out.

The large box looked like it had taken a bit of a beating, but it was definitely a sturdy thing, and had not taken much structural damage as far as Malik could see. He let his bike fall on he grass by the curb, and approached. Through the cracks in wood, a bluish glow could be seen unlike any he had seen before. At the very least, it was suspicious.
He was guessing the glow was mechanical, for many things in this world that he encountered were of that sort, but if so, logic insisted, no need for the glow to be going on while in a crate, and the object in question not in use. He opted to try and peek through one of the gaps in the wooden boards in order to see what was inside.
He saw a creature, definitely not human nor any species that he knew of. It was hard to draw any similarities for him to name it as even like a species he recognized, but then a glimpse through a peak-hole wasn't enough to make much more than a loose assessment.
Frightened for a moment, he backed away from the box, choking back a yell. There was an ingrained, taught fear of the strange that came from living in the city. Even while knowing it existed, it was sometimes hard to ignore. Yet logic slipped in as well. This thing wouldn't stand a chance if it stayed in the box. He better break it out, or at least make an effort.
He came back, examining the heavy padlock. He certainly did not have a key. Could he pry the loop holding the lock in place off? Should he try? He had no crowbar nor tools that would help with this job. He tested it with his hands for now, knowing full well if he needed to, he could find the strength to break it by hand, due to an unfortunate fact that he wasn't as human as he looked, but he didn't want to break that taboo unless it was really necessary. When the creature heard something approach she sank further into the crate and when he approached her ears pricked up and her bright blue eyes shone back at him. She could tell he was frightened, sure, any normal human would be. No human would be accustomed to seeing a monster such as herself except the human that released them from the underground some time ago. Ever since then, monsters had been banished to more rural areas and now, poached for the black market whenever poachers got a whiff of monster kind. All they wanted to was snuff out all monsters once more.
She was trying to round up some fellow young monsters at the time of her capture, they could fend for themselves but were powerless to the tools of slavery. It hurt her so to think that people really bound and sold such creatures for 'fun', show, and money. Then again, when she was human she would think the same way about normal animals. Her thoughts drifted back to when she was still a human and not something even her friends was disgusted at. But were they friends anyway?
She stood up as far as she could in the box as he examined the padlock. The young creature wondered if she should show that she actually talked rather than just acting like an animal. When her head hit the top of the crate she flinched and fell back sending the crate to the other side of the ditch as it was teetering anyway. "Oof!" She grunted with a thud and her back laden against the back side of the square crate feeling the grass touch her fur. Through the boards of the crate, she could see him and felt a hot rush of heat flood past her cheeks. It occurred to her that she had not seen a real human, how long a male about her age since a little after she had escaped the underground. Her perspective of humans had become rather distorted since then, despite still being a human, and she had painted humans as all evil. Seeing another person again after so long brought her back to a certain reality.

The crate tilted away from him as the creature moved, hit her head, and threw the weight of it back towards the ditch. "Oi!" the male exclaimed, able to do little to stop the crate from falling to the ditch. At least it wasn't a long fall. The dark skinned male came down after the crate, careful with his footing to see if he could continue trying to open it from this angle.
The lock was now hard to reach so he examined the boards closest to him. he could fit his fingers through some of the gaps, and one seemed to have loosened. He wiggled the board, and pulled on it to see if he could work it loose further. Eventually it pulled off sending him staggering back due to the sudden release of resistance against him. Well, that was a small opening, but it might not be enough for the creature to get through. Now at least he could possibly see it better. Peri

With the sudden 'pop' of the board off. She shrunk back from the sunlight that glittered down. A flood of hormones mixed with fear was something that came too quickly with the sunlight as it flooded her body. Her head reared back as her fangs and glistening glowing blue salvia spit out of her mouth along with a hissing sound that Malik could only compare to one to that of a cougar's. The creature's magical claws also came out in quick defense. Thin, transparent, glass-like wolverine claws out of the knuckles of her paws.
She knew that this would probably scare him. From his actions, he showed his wariness for whatever was in the box already. Her claws magically disappeared as soon as they came and she took a peak to the outdoors from where she was in the crate. She definitely was far from her town. So far that she figured they had traveled her several days worth of miles to where she was. She reached her brown muzzle out sniffing the ear leaving her bright glowing blue eyes and tail in the dark of the crate.

Malik did not re-approach, but raised both hands in a gesture humanly recognizable as one of surrender or harmlessness, dropping the detached board in the process. "Easy...easy." He urged cautiously keeping his voice as soft and steady as possible, his back to the vivid daylight. "I don't want to be harmed any more than you do." He insisted, guessing that as a living physical creature, it would have an aversion to any harm to itself like all others he had encountered. He definitely didn't want to have to deflect some sort of attack. Chances were, he'd have terrible luck and someone who really meant harm to the both of them would show up just when he chose to defend himself. Luckily that was merely a possible future and not happening yet
It was hard to not look at the creature. It was too weird like a beast come from some sci-fi novel more than fantasy, an Alien or mutant of some kind if he had to guess. His intense aquamarine-blue gaze (an unusual color for a human, especially one of darker skin like himself) might not be good for calming the creature, but he was making an effort to be sincere and let that show through in his expression. He didn't even know if she could understand his words. If it was truly a beast of some sort, he didn't think so. He could hope the emotion would be understood at least. "I'll get you out okay?" But he wouldn't approach again while he thought he would likely get bitten or scratched.

The young creature stayed still for a moment while he talked and sniffed the air. She could tell that wherever he lived, there was a lot of smog and asphalt stench. He was probably from the city. She backed away some and sat on her haunches to make room for him, debating whether or not to keep up this whole 'animal' act or not. With a twitch of her long ear, it was decided, yeah, she would play with him a while longer. She didn't know the next time she would get this sort of opportunity.
She figured he would have some trouble if she couldn't get it herself to this point, neither could he without tools. Reaching out with tan fingers, she placed them on either side of the board and pushed out. The board gave away a small bit. She took her nails and scratched at them, making dents but not exactly something she could work with.

Malik approached again carefully, seeing what she was trying to accomplish from inside the box. "Don't scratch me alright?" he encouraged, carefully bringing his hands where he could pull at the board too.
It certainly took more effort than the first one to pull off. Part way through, Malik decided that he was making this far more difficult than it needed to be. If he let himself, he could be strong enough to pull off these boards with ease, so why wasn't he? It wasn't like anyone was watching... Except the creature in the box. If she couldn't speak, like she had shown so far, the only one he was putting on the 'normality' show for was really himself.
Fuck it. It wasn't practical to Keep playing this game when if the wrong person drove by, they both would be in trouble, him for helping a creature, and the creature, for being something it couldn't change. So resigned, he let a little of the inhuman energy which he strove to keep hidden flow through his limbs.
As expected, even a little made a huge difference in finally removing the stubborn board. Hopefully two removed would create a large enough gap for it to get through.Peri

The creature's head emerged from the crate along with its shoulders. It was a very furry creature of tan and brown. As she came into the sunlight, her eyes dimmed to not be as bright. Her muzzle was very large and when she opened her mouth even slightly blue ooze dripped down and landed on the grass making a sort of searing sound as if it was burnt.
"Thanks for helping," She blurted out not really meaning to, "You wouldn't ever believe what I have been through in the last few days." Her tan and brown hand covered her mouth as her long, rabbit-like ears went up. He could hear a swishing sound behind her in the crate. A small blue glowing object showed itself behind her as it moved and he assumed it was her tail. "Sorry I never talked before-" She started and put her paw in a fist in front of her muzzle.

Malik should have been shocked, but given this was the thrid or fourth time by now that he'd encountered a creature speaking human language, there was a limit to how shocked he could become. His raised eyebrows were more in the 'oh, you're one of those' mixed with resignation expressions where he just couldn't be continuingly critical of it by now. He's sort of done this drill before. Glancing around with his eyes and less with his head, he checked to make sure no one else was around. Ugh, this was not a good place to be. It was definitely too exposed. He took a breath to calm himself. "Don't pull that. A being talking for the first time wouldn't have perfect language." Malik pointed out. Unless there was a way to magically and very quickly master a language, he highly doubted it was the creature's first time speaking. "You can be certain I can believe your story... but cover first. Next person down this road will probably throw a fit." If they saw her at least. He'd run across creatures before, and knew the city people he'd grown up among. There were some unpleasant predictable outcomes.

As he spoke she pulled herself out of the box standing about 5 '9 without the height of her ears added on making her about 6 '8. She put her ears down realizing just how naked she was without her clothes. She subconsciously put an arm over where her breasts were and her groin area. "Yeah," She nodded and motioned over towards the motorcycle laying in the grass. "We better get going. I know how humans freak out when they see my kind or for that case, me."
Her tan feet nimbly climbed the hill that lead up to his motorcycle. Just then her stomach contracted and told her that she was hungry. The young creature looked down near her feet and her arms reflexively covered her stomach as she bit her lip. "Come to think of it," She thought to herself, "Why didn't he freak out when he saw me? Oh well, it doesn't matter now. I just need to get out of the open." Her head pulled up as she saw him walking back over to her. "Hey-uh-" She said rather shyly still keeping her long ears pressed against her head. "When we get to a town or whatever, could you do me a huge favor? I'll make it worth your while."

Malik walked over to his bicycle. He pulled up the slender thing by the handlebars, and pushed the pedal closest to him backwards with his foot so it would not be in the way. Staying on the side opposite the chain and gears, he walked the simple vehicle away from the roadside ditch. He couldn't own a motorcycle. In the shady part of the city where he had been living, such a thing would have gotten stolen very quickly.
"Trust me, town's the last place you ought to be." He warned. "You'd be safer trying to pretend you're a human in a costume in center city, where people waste their time with that sort of stuff." He'd once advised a different bipedal beast to pull that act after being seen by a crowd, and she'd had no idea about sanctuary policies whatsoever. That had not worked out very well if he remembered properly. The memory was cringeworthy.
"But I'll help you out where able." He knew and remembered too well how he'd wished for help on occasions where he'd needed to forge his own solutions into unfamiliar territory. He wasn't keen on just leaving now. Conscience wouldn't let him.
Malik looked out at the street, judging where they ought to go. Too bad he didn't have a map. He didn't know this area. It wasn't really bare, though Houses were broadly spaced and there was lots of open land. He'd come this way with the intention of in part letting everything be unfamiliar. Now it was working against him as he could not think of a place guaranteed to be safe out this way.
Except for the woods. There certainly was unkept tree cover visible from here.

"Right...." She looked down as she mounted the back of his bike and held on to the bottom of his bike seat. She did not like how he assumed she knew nothing of human culture. Then again, he didn't know much about her at all. Her ears went up as a car went past. The fur on her neck stood on end however, the car went straight past them. "I've done the whole 'person in a suit' thing before. I wish it was closer to Halloween because that's when people believe it most." She explained thinking.
"Is there any place that isn't super populated but does have a store or two?" She leaned forward looking at him. Her mind was drawing a blank when it came to her surroundings. "I know how most humans react when they see me-" She swallowed hard trying to push the idea of poachers out of her head, "But we need to think of somewhere quick before anyone grows suspicious."

"We're in it." Malik said grimly, guiding the bicycle down the road the same way he had come, but not mounting to ride it. He maintained a position where at least from some angles, some of the creature would be blocked from sight as he walked.
Eventually he mounted the bike, and began to pedal, pushing the pace as fast as the bike would allow. He was going off memory, of things he'd barely paid attention to on the ride up this way but He thought he remembered a decent place. Out here shopping centers kind of lumped together without easy access to residential districts for one who didn't have a car. When he found a promising side road he turned onto it, thankful to be off from a more traveled route while following the road signs that pointed towards such an isolated shopping center. By keeping to the back roads, closer to the residential areas it was possible to avoid more of the heavy traffic that dominated shopping areas, and hone in on a location which might offer potential hiding places.
