Phanuel When the war came to a close, and destruction and disarray was all that remained, the Heavens were thrown into a panic. The brazen attack by the demonic hordes of Necropolis was surprising, to say the least. Empyrea chocked it up to them being emboldened by the lack of angelic presence on Earth.
That was why Phanuel descended. She was given news of the attack, and watched from afar in her chambers. Her Lord, Rael, had been very clear in the orders given: 'go to the human settlement of Sanctuary and take observations of the calamity'.
Normally, the mission would be done by lesser beings, but she was told that the gravity of the attack in Sanctuary was much greater due to the context of its civilization.
Still, it mattered not to her. No, the humans would simply have to get over it - she was on a mission, after all.
With that ultimatum in mind, she appeared in the skies of a Sanctuarian city, shining brightly like the being of light that she was. Her descent to the streets was rather silent, but ostentatious in its appearance. Behind her were three angels, two with blades and one with a spear. They were not as grand as she, a being who stood at nearly twelve feet in height compared to their nine.
Still, she looked as though she were a woman, sans the glowing skin and eyes.
Without a word, she held out a hand for the group to disperse and collect energy while she would do the same.
This was done in plain view, as Phanuel didn't have the time to shield herself and maintain glamour for the panicking masses. Work had to be done. Empyrean angel True Neutral | Ageless | Genderless

Malik was walking down the street. The damage was nothing he had not seen but in the light of a day where demons were not attacking it had a different sort of shock value. To Malik it was mostly just sad. Buildings were collapsed, places he had known. People were missing, the number confirmed dead rising, as so were the number confirmed to be missing. The shock kept him from mourning. Somehow despite it all he'd managed to survive.
There were shouts from other survivors. Malik's eyes followed the sound to locate the source of the shouts. People were fleeing from... He wasn't all that sure what they were, for though they kind of looked like how he thought angels should look, Malik never expected to see one. It made sense that people were freaking out. On the heels of the dark invasion he could feel that survivors were fearful. He was also was afraid, but he wasn't inclined to run.
When close enough he picked up a small chunk of concrete from the rubble. It wasn't much bigger than a brick in size and weight though its shape was far more jagged. He lobbed it at the Angel who hadn't dispersed to another location, his expression one of anger on low boil. "What are you here for? To finish what those dark freaks started?" Malik demanded as a question. "Leave the human world to us humans, and go back to whatever cloud in the sky you're from." Malik wasn't really thinking of his religion right now. The world really didn't belong to humans. He knew that much, but people had pretty much been left to free will for a while, and the image he had from his readings about end times was nothing like what had happened lately.

Phanuel Phanuel's observations of the city were not hindered in the least by the panic of the masses. Nay, if they wished to cower in fear and run, that was exactly what she would let them do.
That wasn't to say that the Angel didn't detect their presence. No, even Malik's, whose hidden power was not readily apparent, still appeared as a human for her.
It was that awareness that allowed her to catch the stone thrown at her. Without so much as looking at him, she sent the stone back at nearly twice the speed. Whether or not it hit him wasn't the point - it was the disregard she held toward him that was clear.
"Best work on your throwing arm, mortal," she replied, still searching for dark energies. "And never compare us to those puss sores from the Nether."
She found no need to raise alarm to her Messengers - doing so would probably spell the death of this boy, which would go against protocol. Empyrean angel True Neutral | Ageless | Genderless

He barely evaded the scrap of stone. That he managed to evade it at all might be uncommon. He wasn't scared away by it, even though it showed a significant difference in strengths. The difference might be equalizable, should Malik actually tap in to his abilities, but even the thought of such made him cringe. "You're basically all the same the way I see it, Coming down from some other place with no real regard for us. I guess I should be thankful you haven't just gone and hit me with some energy blast or something." He pointed out. He got that the angel didn't care much but that was the worst part of it.
If the angel was looking for dark energy, well it wasn't far off. some had ended up affixed to Malik during the demonic invasion thanks to a certain Abeo person. It was probably showing in his actions and attitude a little bit, but it might not be easy to detect, hidden under Malik's normal energies and perhaps contributing to why he was perceived more like a normal human now along with the fact that for now, due to the conflict he'd used enough of his inhuman energy that was for once not near the point of being ready to overflow.

Phanuel What Malik said certainly registered with Phanuel, but he was absolutely correct in his observation that she didn't care. In fact, the griping he was doing only served to deepen the sense of frivolity she was getting from this interaction.
"Indeed, you should consider yourself lucky, considering your attempt to attack me just now," she said with a very easily detectable tone of disinterest. She looked across the broken buildings and roads, only to find nothing of interest. Of course.
Then, she raised an eyebrow, turning to Malik. Something was different about him; something she couldn't quite put her hands on.
In an instant, she was in front of the human, bending down to stare at him directly in the face. "You, mortal. I was told that this place was unwelcoming toward those who delve into the supernatural. And yet, you aren't exactly human, are you?"
That was curious to her, but it wasn't what she was getting at. Malik could prove useful in this mission if he wasn't acting difficult with her. Empyrean angel True Neutral | Ageless | Genderless

Malik took a step back , but at the same time there was an unflinching quality about his facial expression. He wasn't afraid to meet the angel's eyes with his own intense gaze. "we aren't welcoming." he confirmed, still speaking as one among the humans rather than as something other. "It's only a matter of time before some alarm goes out, and peeps with tools to actually fight start showing up."
Malik based this off past trends. He'd tried hard to hide that he knew about supernatural beings so that he wouldn't be one of those forced to forget. since he remembered he'd actually seen some of the trends.
Malik was avoiding the not actually human part of the question. It was something he didn't want to breach even though merely being asked that made him hyper aware of it, and agitated his inhuman energies. It was like being told to not think about oranges. As soon as told that, oranges are all that will come to mind. It made it hard for Malik to hide from those who suspected him, especially those more aware of the supernatural.

Phanuel Phanuel's gaze didn't drop from Malik's own, either. "People with tools to fight?"
She lowered her posture, getting directly in his face. The celestial energy she emanated would be almost tangible - a sign of challenge from an angelic being. "And what do you think mortal tools can do against an Angel of The Maker?"
Then, she tilted her head. Something was very, very strange about Malik. Strange and eerily familiar.
She continued to stare down at him. By this point, it was becoming uncomfortable. Empyrean angel True Neutral | Ageless | Genderless

Malik didn't break the eye contact. The angel's eyes might be hard for some people to look at, but for the moment he could endure that much. It was tempting to resist or counter the angel's energy somehow, but malik focused on keeping any attempts internal. The angel probably suspected him as being something other. He had no desire to give her more reasons to think so. If he was not careful he'd end up glowing as brightly. It already was showing where it always showed first, in his intensely blue eyes.
"Have you even seen the stuff they've made?" he asked the angel "They keep the worst of it secret so I don't even know what all they've created." He closed his hand into a fist front of him as if grabbing at the light energy which the angel was radiating. "but its stuff to counter this and every other inhuman thing." Malik had seen human made weapons frying demons the other day. He had no reason to doubt that there wasn't something man made that could fry a being who used light too.

Phanuel She let out a sound of amusement, despite her features not changing. "You shouldn't pretend to understand what I am," she said. "You think me simply a being of light, I presume? I am so much more than that."
Then, Phanuel lifted her hand, reaching for Malik's face. Her hand began to glow, but nothing seemed to come of it.
In truth, she began exerting celestial background energy upon Malik. Beings of light and radiation, even only a sizable amount of it, would find themselves reacting to it either consciously or unconsciously. Otherwise, it wouldn't cause any reaction whatsoever.

Malik's expression became flat and unimpressed. "yeah, you're chock full of pride." he noted sarcastically.
She was doing something around him. He didn't notice it at first, but it reminded him of when he had gone to... He tried to push her hand away with the back of his own. "what the hell are you doing." He asked in a slightly angered tone.
When placed in a area where the dominate energy was unlike what he was used to his energy tended to react and adjust to it. This wasn't something he'd tested. He'd only been to another plane once, the day when he'd found out he was different. The difference in energy had forced him to try and shield himself, almost acting as a catalyst that had revealed him as something other. This the angel was using was nearly opposite that, but it still triggered a spike in his energies in order to reach a better balance to the surroundings.

Phanuel "Pride, perhaps. But the power of the Heavens and the Almighty Herself, yes," Phanuel stated, having finished her attempts at scanning Malik.
The results told her everything she needed to know. "So, tell me 'mortal' - what is stopping me from simply taking a human shape and alerting the authorities to your predicament?"
She raised an eyebrow, considering that option. "Yes, you haven't exactly been very hospitable; barely gave me time to even state my intentions. If I were a sufficiently petty being, I would have you persecuted by both humans and angels alike." Empyrean angel True Neutral | Ageless | Genderless

It didn't really scare him, whatever power the angel had. He was more worried about how it might be used. He took a step backwards. "you want to do something that demonic and spiteful go ahead." He dared her, knowing that she'd made it clear that she did not want to be compared to the demons who had come down earlier. "you'll be found out eventually, its only a matter of time."
This was true for him as well. He knew that one day, especially if he didn't learn to control his powers, he'd end up caught. He was too afraid of his powers to try experimenting or use then when not in a pinch, and that was part if why he was sure he'd end up caught one day.
"Don't push me like that." Malik growled with frustration "If you wanted hospitality you should have come elsewhere. or taken a human form before anyone saw you." someone skilled at it would have an easier time hiding than someone like himself. Someone who knew what they were doing could walk around and know that there were no loose ends that would give them away. Malik couldn't do that.
Malik didn't want to be persecuted either, not because he feared the possibility of persecution, but because he feared what he might become if he was pushed the wrong way. This conversation was already putting pressure on him that he didn't like. Not all pressure was bad. he'd need an extra push if he was going to admit to himself that he wasn't human for example, but how and when that occurred could be good or bad depending on the course of action he found himself on after. His fear probably showed.

Phanuel "Don't push me either, boy," Phanuel stood back to her full height, sensing Malik's fear. No need to push further - her point was made. He couldn't even harm her, so he posed even less of a threat now that her stance was clear.
Malik's words didn't really inspire fear in her. Why would it? She was an angel. She turned to continue scanning the area while speaking. "Child, why should I worry about your ephemeral societal laws?" She picked up a stone, absorbing more dark energy residue from it. "In the last week, you found yourself completely swamped by demonic hordes. Your land is merely a crime scene for us, not a place of importance."

Malik crossed his arms, and turned his back on the angel however he was still very aware of her presence. "The laws exist for a reason. I don't care if you think that you're above them, you stick out if you just blow them off. I'm not gonna bother, but someone's gonna report you if you don't at least try to blend in. Even if you can just walk all over the law and do what you want doesn't mean you should when there is a way to avoid inciting people to attack or flee. Whatever you're after, it doesn't help you either unless you want people to be terrified."
Malik picked up a piece of something black and glass like from the ground and tossed it towards the angel in a more casual less aggressive throw. Even though he handled the thing for a short while, he'd shuddered and hissed through clenched teeth when he touched it. He shook his arm out as though his hand had been stung. His breathing was heavier than it was moments before as he put his hands in his pockets. He shouldn't have touched that, though it probably wouldn't have much effect on the angel.
Self preservation said he ought to get out of here. If someone reported him with the angel they'd probably try and take him in for questioning at the very least. It was in Malik's best interest to try and avoid that. The fact that he knew that that black glass shard, which was easily one of the dark energy traces the Angel was looking for, probably meant that he had seen other things happen as well. Of course there had been other witnesses too.

Phanuel Phanuel paid his words no heed. Instead, she simply pointed her finger at the glass in his hand while still scanning the area.
"Give me that. It is evidence," she said to him. Empyrean angel True Neutral | Ageless | Genderless Loner。
