Lucky would stay awake for a little bit, making sure things were safe one last time before he found somewhere safe to sleep and began to sleep to rest up.

It was quiet for a while.
But early in the morning, in the twilight before the sun rose someone opened a door, shedding light into the yard.
A yell woke Shika, a human voice, female, followed by a thrown boot which the sleepy Shiba inu didn't manage to dodge. She should have slept in the shed, out of sight of people but she hadn't thought that through during the night. She didn't know where lucky was. Perhaps he had been more smart about his sleeping place than she.
Shika was forced to flee out of the yard, but she doubled back around from a more discrete angle just so she would not end up too far from lucky.

Lucky was sleeping in a tree inside the yard, adopting the tactic of out of sight, out of mind. However, he woke up when he heard a human scream and Shika run off. He jumped down from the tree and followed her, but not going the same way she did. He met her at another area.

Shika glared at the household which was now quiet once more. So humans were good at reacting poorly to things they didn't expect. Since Shika and Lucky looked more like normal animals, the least a human could have done was be a little kind.
Guess it was better this way, better than ending up delayed and treated as a pet.
Shika turned to take a shortcut through an alley to get back to their intended path, deeming it a waste to go back to the yard to look for food.

Lucky was right behind Shika as she was headed off in the right direction. He was using his luck powers to make it so they could get out without much further hitches.

No further hitches...in Sanctuary perhaps.
Well coming out of the alley showed a similar cityscape, but it was now a lot different. The road was brick, not asphalt, and the buildings were a lot more irregular in shape, but much closer together. The road ahead was huge and packed with beings on foot, and sometimes riding, of all shapes, sizes and colors. Some had fur or feathers or scales. Some actually looked like regular humans, but the clothing was definitely not sanctuary-esque
Where in the world was this?
The right land, but not the right place. If they found the right way to go they'd be far closer to the tribe they'd left.

Lucky observed his surroundings as they moved, trying to figure out on the fly where they needed to go. However, once they got to this new place, Lucky almost lost track of where they were going. He didn't recognize this place, and only hoped that they were in fact going the right way.

They had passed through a rift. Shika looked back. Even the alleyway from which they had come looked different, as though it in no way lead to that concrete jungle from which they had come. Now there was a new jungle to traverse, one which no matter how one looked at it seemed a lot more like the tribe in terms of individuals' looks. It almost seemed akward to be a normal cat or dog here. It could just be immagined no one seemed to care.
Shika began with caution, since she had never been to a big city quite like this one. It was hard to believe that she could walk calmly without sticking to a humanoid form or needing to hide. They could even ask for help if need be. There were plenty of clearly intelligent beasts along the way.

Lucky hadn't noticed right away that they had gone through a rift. Once he found out that they did, he began to try to find where they could easily find the sun. If he could gague where it was setting and rising, he could use that to try to point them in the right direction. If worse came to worst, he could try asking one of the beings walking around, which a lot didn't look fully human or non-human.

The sun could only help if they could figure out which way they ought to head. The rift could have placed them north, south, east or west or any variation in between in comparison to where home was. How they needed to go compared to that orb could vary greatly. As it was, here it was around mid day. The sun was high in the sky, closer to setting than to rising, so slightly in the westward sky. Easy to see, since buildings didn't mask it from most angles, but probably not very helpful.
On the other hand, there were plenty of possible beings to approach, from seemingly fully human men and women heading both ways along the street, to quadrupeds which were clearly some weird magical species, shika in her normal form would not have been out of place here. There was a harpy headding one way with a basket over wing, a dragon of the classical fantasy sort pushing a cart with fine chinaware, a stubby oversized mouse carrying herbs, and on and on.

Lucky saw the sun, but soon stopped looking at it as it might make them more lost blindly following it. After some time walking, Lucky grew impatient. "Should we ask someone for directions? He asked Shika.

Shika huffed. "you know I don't want to." she pointed out firmly. She might have been through a humbling experience, but that didn't mean she wanted to bow her head and admit her lack of competence in knowing where to go. "I'd rather fly and gets a birds eye view on this." she'd seen many places by air so she might recognize something she might not be able to see from land. This was a bad place to change forms and try to fly though.

"Well, in this case we might have to ask for help." Lucky stated firmly. If she wasn't going to ask for help, then Lucky would when the time was right.

With the thought of flying in her mind, Shika was getting restless. The Eokian coty was far more crowded than the swath of Sanctuary they had seen, an the yokai hated being small when she didn't have to be. It would be so much easier to go where she wished if she were bigger. People would usually give the necessary space. Instead here she was small and canine. Shika lowered her head, and picked up her pace, hoping to find a clearing or leave this city behind quickly so she could check things out in her own way

Lucky followed after Shika, not wanting to have to possibly rescue her again. Along the way, he continued to keep his eyes open for anyone he could ask about where they were and help on where to go next.
